UGH: 18-Year-Old SUV Driver Deliberately Runs Over Four Teens On Sidewalk.

Four teenagers were injured when an 18-year-old driver intentionally ran them over as they were walking on the sidewalk in Burlingame, California. Two of the victims suffered serious injuries and were taken to Stanford Hospital, while the other two teens were taken to a different hospital with less severe injuries.

The SUV driver, identified as Omeed Adibi, struck a fire hydrant after he mowed them down.

Video at the link, motive a safe assumption.

ANALYSIS: TRUE. A Fracking Ban Would Hurt Farmers, Families, And Western States. “According to the new analysis by economic modeling firm OnLocation, which relied on a model originally developed by the Entergy Information Administration, a fracking ban would slash household incomes by $5,400 annually. The cumulative economic loss would be $7.1 trillion by 2030.”

UGH: Iranians burn clinic that may be quarantine for coronavirus patients.

A clinic in the city of Bandar Abbas in southern Iran was torched on Friday due to suspicions that coronavirus patients from another city were quarantined in it, Al Arabiya reported Saturday.

Rumors claimed that 10 infected people were transported from Qom, a religious city that has been the epicenter of the virus outbreak in Iran, to the Towhid Clinic, according to Iranian social media posts.

The Iranian Fars news agency dismissed the claims of infected patients from Qom were being treated in the clinic as “unfounded rumors,” saying that the rumors “angered” some residents, who torched the clinic. The clinic does have a special ward for coronavirus, but the director of public relations at the University of Hormozgan Medical Sciences, Fatima Norouzian, told Fars that rumors about patients being in the clinic are “just a lie,” according to Al Arabiya.

Tragic, but not uncommon in low-trust societies.

KRUISER’S MORNING BRIEF: Coronavirus Is the New Y2K. “Does anyone remember the ZOMGWEAREALLGOINGTODIE coverage in the media during the run-up to Y2k? Remember how all the talking heads spun that “crisis” up to be the end of the world as we knew it? There was a run on generators and other survival gear, and a whole cottage industry grew up around fears of an apocalypse. We were told that not only would all our computers be rendered obsolete, but banks would collapse, the power grid would fail, the supply chain would be paralyzed, and armed citizens would be forced to roam the countryside in search of food for their families.”

Paula Bolyard is filling in for Kruiser this morning, who is still recovering from too little sleep and too much drink at CPAC. And believe me, I feel his pain.

IT’S ALWAYS PROJECTION FROM THE LEFT: Michael Bloomberg Tries To Control Others Because He Can’t Control Himself.

Mayor Busybody simply can’t stop telling others what to do. It seems to be an obsession with him—or maybe, a compulsion too.

I gained insight into this when I returned to a New York Times article from 2009 that described Bloomberg’s eating habits.

“He dumps salt on almost everything, even saltine crackers. He devours burnt bacon and peanut butter sandwiches. He has a weakness for hot dogs, cheeseburgers, and fried chicken, washing them down with a glass of merlot. And his snack of choice? Cheez-Its.”

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is about control. Controlling one’s out-of-control thoughts, feelings, and behavior by attempting to control his external environment.

Consciously or unconsciously, those afflicted do this in vain, to the point where they feel unable to control the compulsion as well (as in excessive hand-washing).

Most sufferers aren’t dangerous unless they have 65 billion dollars and a God-complex.

The Times went on to report this delicious insight:

“…he (Bloomberg) is known to grab food off the plates of aides and, occasionally, even strangers. (“Delicious,” he declared recently, after swiping a piece of fried calamari from an unsuspecting diner in Staten Island.)”

Behavior like this exhibits a staggering and extreme lack of boundaries. The Times seems to only snicker at this, but it’s painfully clear that Bloomberg has great difficulty respecting the basic boundaries of civil society. No wonder it’s so easy for him to help himself to your freedoms and your choices when he can’t stop helping himself to your calamari.

You can’t trust a guy like that with a fork, much less the reins of power.
