THREAD:

Shameless hypocrisy, you’re doing it right.

UPDATE (FROM GLENN): You know that this is right.

In the replies, Fleischer is getting dragged by such hacks as Molly Jong-Fast and Norm Ornstein — but they don’t dare say he’s wrong, because everyone knows he’s not.

Anyway Fauci’s Monday-morning quarterbacking . . . himself.

KRUISER’S MORNING BRIEF: Coronavirus Quarantine Easter Monday Reflections. “There was something beautiful in the way people of Christian faith rallied to make sure that Easter Sunday services would still be celebrated in some fashion. Viewing it all through a television or computer could be seen as detached and clinical, but I found it to be a wonderful testament to the spirit of true believers. We couldn’t have what we wanted, but we made sure that we celebrated the most sacred of days was still celebrated in the best way that we could fashion a community to do so.”

UNDOUBTEDLY: If Biden Were President Our Coronavirus Economic Problems Would Be Worse.

We don’t have to speculate as to what Biden would have done differently in response to the pandemic — the former vice president has already told us.

First and foremost, Biden would not have implemented life-saving travel restrictions on China in the early days of the outbreak, as President Trump has been praised for doing by the nation’s top public health experts. At the time, Biden argued that the White House was overreacting to the novel coronavirus threat, even calling the President’s response “xenophobic,” but he now acts as though he supported travel restrictions all along.

The rest of Biden’s comments over the course of this crisis have been equally disjointed and nonsensical, making it painfully clear that he’s completely out of his depth on this issue. The country is fortunate that Biden isn’t responsible for safeguarding our prosperity at this critical juncture.

Even after the economy fully reopens, though, a Biden administration would be more than our recovering economy could bear. His plans to “get rid of fossil fuels,” for instance, would needlessly sacrifice hundreds of thousands of American jobs while raising the cost of living for working families all over the country. Meanwhile, his plan to raise taxes by over $4 trillion would undo the long-term benefits of the recent coronavirus relief measures, saddling families with an unnecessary financial burden at a time when many of them can least afford it.

Also, I’m pretty sure the stress of the job might kill him.

ANSWERING THE CALL… AGAIN: More Than 25,000 Former Soldiers Have Now Volunteered to Return to Duty. “The service first sent out an appeal in late March to retired officers and enlisted soldiers from a targeted set of specialties, asking for volunteers to re-don the uniform and reinforce Army communities thinned by emergency field hospital and personnel deployments to regions hit hardest by the virus. It would ultimately expand the call for volunteers to recently separated soldiers in the Individual Ready Reserve and to ‘gray-area’ soldiers — Guardsmen and reservists who have completed 20 years but haven’t yet met requirements for retirement.”

KRUISER’S MORNING BRIEF: Progress! WuFlu Gets Dogs an Upgrade From Menu to Pet in China. “The Week Four WuFlu Wind-Down finds us all heading into an online Easter weekend that is going to require a little adjustment. And when I say ‘adjustment,’ I mean’“alcohol.’ Well, that’s what I’ve been using for adjustment, anyway.”

It works for non-Easter weekends, too.

CONSTRUCTION IN THE TIME OF CORONAVIRUS: Coronavirus could soon topple one of NYC’s most luxurious new supertowers.

One of the tallest residential buildings in the nation, 111 W. 57th St., is just weeks away from missing its construction deadline, known as an “outside date,” thanks to years of delays and the construction moratorium caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

If that happens, in-contract buyers could — and likely would thanks to coronavirus fears and an abysmal stock market — walk away with their deposits, leaving the $1.45 billion development empty.

Plus: “Just about any luxury condo in New York — whether it’s complete, almost complete or partly complete — is in the same boat right now: It’s frozen.”

WOW: Facebook Wanted NSO Spyware to Monitor Users, NSO CEO Claims.

At the time, Facebook was in the early stages of deploying a VPN product called Onavo Protect, which, unbeknownst to some users, analyzed the web traffic of users who downloaded it to see what other apps they were using. According to the court documents, it seems the Facebook representatives were not interested in buying parts of Pegasus as a hacking tool to remotely break into phones, but more as a way to more effectively monitor phones of users who had already installed Onavo.

“The Facebook representatives stated that Facebook was concerned that its method for gathering user data through Onavo Protect was less effective on Apple devices than on Android devices,” the court filing reads. “The Facebook representatives also stated that Facebook wanted to use purported capabilities of Pegasus to monitor users on Apple devices and were willing to pay for the ability to monitor Onavo Protect users.”

Pegasus is weapons-grade stuff.
