Small budgets, loss of shipbuilding capacity, and some terrible procurement decisions have forced the Navy to eat its seed corn, and now we must pay the price.

He writes:
As Jeff Schogol relates, the United States has very few areas in which it could repair the Bonhomme Richard, and no room on the construction schedule to replace it. This has sparked broader concerns about the ability of the U.S. Navy to repair battle damage on existing ships, as well as to replace any wartime losses.
So we probably don’t have the resources to repair Bonhomme Richard, and even if the Navy could scrape everything together, we couldn’t repair her without delaying scheduled maintenance, repairs, and upgrades to other ships in the fleet.

We are fortunate indeed to have real world results that we can look at for how well or how poorly governing philosophies and agendas work. America’s major cities have been dominated by the Democratic Party for decades, and the results are in.
All but 3 of America’s largest cities are run by Democratic mayors. The 3 largest cities – New York, Los Angeles and Chicago, are losing population every year.
Several of the most violent cities in America, including Albuquerque, Memphis, Detroit, Chicago and Washington, DC are run by Democrats.
States that are bleeding population every year due to high taxation, over-regulation, decaying cities and failing public services including New York, Connecticut, California and others are all run by Democrats.
States that have low to no income taxes, are right-to-work and favor energy development do better economically than high tax, forced union and energy unfriendly states. According to the annual economic outlook rankings published by the American Legislative Exchange Council Center for State Fiscal Reform, in 2019 the bottom ten states were all run by Democrats and the top 10 states except two were run by Republicans.

China’s ruling Communist Party has expelled an outspoken and prominent property tycoon who denounced the country’s authoritarian leader, Xi Jinping, paving the way for his criminal prosecution and escalating its efforts to quash dissent among the elite.
The party announced the expulsion of the tycoon, Ren Zhiqiang, late Thursday, and said that it had seized his assets for “serious violations of discipline and law” that included the possession of golf club memberships. Officials also took aim at Mr. Ren’s family, accusing him of “colluding with his children to accumulate wealth without restraint.”
The moves against Mr. Ren, 69, appeared designed to send a chill over the country’s entrepreneurs and other business leaders and demonstrate the party’s resolve to use him as an example to show that no one was above its demands of unflinching political loyalty.

ANOTHER ZERO WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER: San Fran Pays Whistleblower $400K After Retaliation From Progressive Prosecutor.
The city of San Francisco was forced to pay a whistleblower $400,000 after former district attorney and prominent progressive prosecutor George Gascón repeatedly targeted him in a “pattern of retaliation and harassment.”
Henry McKenzie served as a senior investigator under Gascón when the latter was the San Francisco district attorney, but was fired in October 2017 after, McKenzie claimed, he reported Gascón to the TSA for bringing a firearm on flights. Gascón also placed McKenzie on a so-called Brady list, meaning McKenzie’s credibility would always be in question at trial—a decision McKenzie called an effort to destroy his career.
The settlement may be ammo for moderate Los Angeles district attorney Jackie Lacey, who is running a tight race against the ultra-progressive Gascón. Their race is widely perceived as a bellwether for efforts to install progressives in district attorneys’ offices across the country, a project of the criminal justice reform movement funded by liberal billionaire George Soros.
It’s a Soros-sponsored DA in St. Louis going after the McCloskeys for defending their own property.
