KRUISER’S MORNING BRIEF: RNC Night 1 Is A Stark Contrast to DNC’s Low-T Zoom Meeting. “That is no doubt due to the very real — and never talked about by the MSM — enthusiasm gap between the two parties. As we saw over and over last week, the Democrats aren’t really voting for Joe Biden, they’re voting against Donald Trump. People get more excited about the stomach flu than most Dems are about Grandpa Gropes right now.”

OOPS: Bridgefy, the messenger promoted for mass protests, is a privacy disaster. “Though it is advertised as ‘safe’ and ‘private’ and its creators claimed it was secured by end-to-end encryption, none of aforementioned use cases can be considered as taking place in adversarial environments such as situations of civil unrest where attempts to subvert the application’s security are not merely possible, but to be expected, and where such attacks can have harsh consequences for its users. Despite this, the Bridgefy developers advertise the app for such scenarios and media reports suggest the application is indeed relied upon.”

ANALYSIS: TRUE. Wolves and lots of people don’t mix.

Wolves and the rapid urbanization and exploding population of Colorado could test all of us to our limits. Ranchers already deal with a more crowded world on a daily basis, moving cattle on public roads and sharing trails with bikers and hikers. Nothing will hold back the tide of people moving to the Western Slope or the recreationalists escaping the Front Range.

Adding wolves to this crowded landscape could harm elk and deer populations. Mule deer have been declining since the 1970s. There have been serious declines in the elk cow/calf ratio in Southwestern Colorado, concerning Colorado Parks and Wildlife. Wolves prey on elk. As such, wolf reintroduction should not take place until studies, specific to western Colorado, can assess if deer and elk can survive the combined threats of wolves and humans, prior to a vote on reintroduction.

We have learned to coexist with bears, mountain lions, and coyotes, but even with coexistence strategies, wolves will be more challenging. Over time, wolves may colonize the entire state affecting many ranchers. Wolves could push us to the breaking point. As ranchers sell out, songbirds, raptors, and small mammals lose their homes. There is less local agriculture and important wildlife corridors are lost, further stressing elk and deer.

Wolf reintroduction is about driving out conservative ranchers.

WHO? BidenWatch for August 24, 2020. “Biden flogs the Fine People Hoax yet again, wants to lock down the nation yet again, more DNC fallout, and a look at Biden’s foreign policy team in waiting (and how some got paid by China).”

AMELIA HAMILTON: Are we doomed? “750 million mosquitos & 2 hurricanes are coming, but otherwise no.”

VODKAPUNDIT PRESENTS YOUR DAILY INSANITY WRAP: Antifa/BLM Spread Riots to Denver, Kenosha — America Going Full Weimar? “The only reason, as in Weimar Germany, to use violence against a decent-if-imperfect government that has democratic processes in place is when an unpopular political minority seeks to overthrow the decent-if-imperfect government.”

COLORADO: ‘This Was A Riot’: Denver City Leaders Vow To Hold Suspects Accountable.

Denver city leaders hosted a news conference on Sunday to discuss arrests and destruction from violent protests on Saturday night. A group of about 50-75 people protested outside the Denver Police Department headquarters.

“They brought weapons to the table. They had guns. They brought explosives, axes, machetes, and had one intent purpose and that was to harm our officers,” said Murphy Robinson, Denver’s Public Safety Director. “I want these anarchists to hear me clearly and loudly that this will not be tolerated in our city. You are not welcome here.”

Robinson went on to say the city plans to do everything in its power to stop these violent acts.

KRUISER’S MORNING BRIEF: Joe Biden Never Met a Speech He Couldn’t Plagiarize. “If our political mainstream media had any integrity or intellectual curiosity Biden would be getting raked over the coals for this. As we are all painfully aware, however, the MSM exists solely to carry this rotting carcass of a candidate across the finish line.”

SEND IN THE DRONES: After Thursday’s Dogfight, It’s Clear: DARPA Gets AI Right.

AI prevailed against a human in DARPA ’s recent AlphaDogfight trials. Given that DeepMind’s AI achieved the level of grandmaster in the StarCraft II video game, AI beating a human in a simulated closed world contest is not impressive. What is impressive is AlphaDogfight’s role in DARPA’s overall plan for the development of AI in the military.

By posing relevant questions, DARPA’s overall AI strategy accurately embraces both the capabilities and limitations of AI. How can AI enhance the performance of the pilot by lessening cognitive load? How can companion unmanned aircraft accompanying the fighter pilot’s fighter jet be effectively used? What are the limitations and dangers of autonomous drones?

Remotely controlled unmanned drones are not always feasible. Their tethering to a remote-control pilot can be severed by enemy jamming. Totally autonomous drones cannot yet be trusted to make complex life-and-death decisions. So oversight by a human pilot is the sober solution in the near future. DARPA is addressing these and other important questions.

Call me paranoid, but I still want a human in the loop for all kill orders.
