CHARLES LIPSON: The Georgia Runoffs and Our Embattled Constitution. “It’s understandable that the national debate should focus on which party will control the Senate and just how radical the Democrats’ program will be if they do. But just beneath the surface lurk potential constitutional issues, which have received almost no attention. The basic problem is this: although America’s Founders were deeply concerned about tyranny, centralized power, and the suppression of individual rights and constructed institutional barriers to prevent those abuses, they never envisioned the mechanisms that pose serious threats today.”

ONE LAST COLUMN FROM THE LATE, GREAT WALTER WILLIAMS: The Tragedy of Black Education Is New.
Several years ago, Project Baltimore began an investigation of Baltimore’s school system. What it found was an utter disgrace.
In 19 of Baltimore’s 39 high schools, out of 3,804 students, only 14 of them, or less than 1%, were proficient in math.
In 13 of Baltimore’s high schools, not a single student scored proficient in math.
In five Baltimore City high schools, not a single student scored proficient in math or reading.
Despite these academic deficiencies, about 70% of the students graduate and are conferred a high school diploma—a fraudulent high school diploma.
The Detroit Public Schools Community District scored the lowest in the nation compared to 26 other urban districts for reading and mathematics at the fourth- and eighth-grade levels.
A recent video captures some of this miseducation in Milwaukee high schools: In two city high schools, only one student tested proficient in math and none are proficient in English.
Yet, the schools spent a full week learning about “systemic racism” and “Black Lives Matter activism.”
I know I don’t have to remind you to read the whole thing.

“You have continued to stand as an individual that seems to turn a blind eye to the stuff that’s going on, as a black woman that is in the [college] administration,” said the first-year Haverford College student. “I came to this institution”—and here she pauses for a moment, apparently fighting back tears—“I expected you, of any of us, to stand up and be the icon for black women on this campus… So, I’m not trying to hear anything that you have to say regarding that, due to the fact that you haven’t stood up for us—you never have, and I doubt that you ever will.”
The school-wide November 5th Zoom call, a recording of which has been preserved, was hosted by Wendy Raymond, Haverford’s president. At the time, the elite Pennsylvania liberal arts college was a week into a student strike being staged, according to organizers, to protest “anti-blackness” and the “erasure of marginalized voices.” During the two-hour-and-nine-minute discussion, viewed in real time by many of the school’s 1,350 students, Raymond presented herself as solemnly apologetic for a litany of offenses. She also effusively praised and thanked the striking students for educating her about their pain, while “recognizing that I will never understand what it means to be a person of color or be black or indigenous in the United States. I am a white woman with considerable unearned privilege.”
Not only did Raymond announce that she would be acceding to many of the students’ previously listed demands, she also reacted positively to the new requests that students put forward during the call. “All of the recommendations you’ve made here sound spot on and are excellent,” she said. “We can do those—and go beyond them.”
The ignorant and intolerant are effectively in charge.

PRICE CONTROLS NEVER WORK, EXHIBIT #1,000,006: DoorDash is now charging Denver customers an extra $2 fee to make up for their lost commissions.
Denver city council voted in October to cap delivery fees from third-party sites like GrubHub and DoorDash at 15%. But if you’ve ordered from DoorDash recently in Denver, you may have come across a new fee, an additional “Denver Fee.”
After indoor dining was no longer an option in Denver, the Denver Biscuit Company has been fighting to stay afloat.
“Right now we are living on to-go [orders] and there’s no such thing as living on to-go, but limping on to-go. It works to keep us going, but we laid off more than 200 people in the last 10 days and that’s going into the holidays,” said Director of Operations Nate Lotz.
But now, DoorDash is charging customers in Denver a $2 “Denver Fee”. They say it addresses the capped fees that they’re experiencing. In order to continue offering convenient delivery, you’ll now see an extra charge.
“To know that it’s just been pushed on to our guests, it seems to have subverted the whole intention of the law,” said Lotz.
Prices, to paraphrase Dr. Ian Malcolm, find a way.

IRANIAN FOREIGN MINISTER: Nuclear Scientist’s Killing Planned During Netanyahu’s Visit To Saudi Arabia.
Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif has formally leveled the charge that Israel and Saudi Arabia conspired to assassinate top Iranian nuclear scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, who was killed in a carefully planned assassination when his vehicle was stopped outside Tehran last Friday.
Zarif, who is active on social media in presenting the Islamic Republic’s messages to the world, posted the allegation to his Instagram page, saying that “supporters of the maximum American pressure are seeking in the last days of the Trump administration to create unrest in the region and destroy the atmosphere that may lead to the lifting of sanctions,” according to a translation of his words.

LARRY O’CONNOR: If You Wanted to Rig An Election, You’d Do Exactly What Dems Did in 2020.
First, they’d make sure that the voter rolls were full of ineligible voters. Deceased people, non-citizens, and people who have moved out of state would not be purged from the rolls, and there would be no mechanism in place to purge those ineligible voters.
Further, they wouldn’t have any preemptive check to ensure that only eligible voters registered in the first place. For instance, you can’t get a job in this country without showing a passport, birth certificate, or green card for a standard I-9 form. This ensures that only people eligible to legally work here get a job. There is no such citizen check when you register to vote. It’s on the “honor system” that you are a legal citizen when you fill out your registration form. And, let’s face it, why would someone who breaks our immigration laws by entering, staying, and working in our country illegally ever break our election laws, too? That’s a solid policy there.
Next, they’d modify existing election laws so that voters could mail-in ballots on a whim and not for a specific “absentee voting” reason. This way, in-person voting (the most secure kind of voting) would diminish, and mail-in voting (the least secure) would increase.
Next, they’d send a ballot to every voter on the voter rolls regardless of whether they asked for an absentee ballot or not. This way, millions of live ballots are floating in the system and are outside the tight custodian controls of the election apparatus in your state.
Now that they’ve hypothetically flooded the zone with millions of ballots that have been sent out to everyone, regardless of their eligibility to vote, they would need the policy to count every vote that came in, even votes that shouldn’t be counted.
Bingo.
