KRUISER’S MORNING BRIEF: Lies, Damned Lies, and Polling. “I doubt that 62 percent of Joe Biden thinks that Joe Biden is doing a good job. This is no more believable than the idea that I can become an outside linebacker in the NFL.”

Tyler O’Neil: Obama Reveals What He Really Thinks About the TEA Party. “Obama gave a long, reasoned answer. ‘As for the Tea Party,’ Obama said, ‘well, they were ‘racist motherf—ers.’”

Stacey Lennox: Biden Is Threatening to Take a Sledgehammer to Intellectual Property Rights for Vaccine Makers. “It should also make you wonder what Biden will be willing to take from you under the guise of the next manufactured crisis, climate change.”

Yours Truly: You Don’t Want to Get Between LeBron and His Tequila. “LeBron’s punishment for breaking the league’s Wuhan Flu restrictions was to make him the star of yet another winning game.”

BUBBLE: ‘Charlie Bit My Finger’ Will Disappear From YouTube After Someone Paid $760K for an NFT. “As for now, the video is still live on YouTube (albeit unlisted). The auction site that was created by the Davies-Carr Family behind the clip noted that it’s ‘soon-to-be-deleted.’ Right now, anyone can still download the video and meme it to their heart’s content. As a reminder that NFTs aren’t necessarily the same as the item that they represent, the auction site explicitly says, ‘The top bidder will be the sole NFT holder of the Charlie Bit My Finger NFT.’ The future owner of the video’s copyright is unclear.”

ANTISOCIAL MEDIA: Facebook Reduced Political Content and Replaced It With Something Even More Diabolical. “Now, instead of political fights, everywhere you look on Facebook, conversations about everything from cooking to kayaking are blowing up into major battles as the scolds and Karens who once went head-to-head on political posts are now visiting their hostilities on the most benign groups and conversations.”

HMM: Pedestrian Deaths Ballooned Against Miles Driven Last Year. “While the data is preliminary, the association estimated there were 6,721 pedestrian deaths in 2020. It’s a 4.8 percent increase over 2019 and not all that impressive until you realize most people basically gave up their normal driving routine during lockdowns. According to the GHSA, adjusting for miles driven actually results in an annual increase of 21 percent.”

RICHARD FERNANDEZ: Unconscious Reprogramming: The Deepest Form of War. “After the Second World War, the fight for the unconscious continued unabated for the Germans, at least in the Soviet Zone, through de-Nazification ironically carried out by the NKVD. To a surprising extent, the secret history of the 20th century is one of the struggles for the subconscious minds of populations. Far from being a paranoid fantasy, unconscious reprogramming constitutes the deepest form of war. ”

FIGHT THE POWER: Ron DeSantis Signs Bill Cracking Down On Big Tech: ‘These Platforms Have Become Our Public Square.’ “Big Tech is prohibited from de-platforming Floridian political candidates. The Florida Election Commission will impose fines of $250,000 per day on any social media company that de-platforms any candidate for statewide office, and $25,000 per day for de-platforming candidates for non-statewide offices. Any Floridian can block any candidate they don’t want to hear from, and that is a right that belongs to each citizen — it’s not for Big Tech companies to decide.”

OREGON UPDATE: Vaccine passports are white supremacist. “According to Black Lives Matter and other civil-rights groups, it does not matter that this gap in immunization is not intended. It does not matter that the men and women managing the vaccine program and distribution, or administering it to the public, do not discriminate at the vaccine sites by the race of persons who come for the shots.”

VODKAPUNDIT PRESENTS YOUR DAILY INSANITY WRAP: Biden’s Radical Agenda Might Just Be DOA.

Insanity Wrap needs to know: What’s better than reading a CNN progressive tacitly admit that Biden can’t get much of anything through the Senate?

Answer: Reading it with your feet up and a cocktail.

Before we get to the sordid details, a quick preview of today’s Wrap.

  • “Death to Jews” is Twitter policy, apparently
  • Masks are the new awareness ribbons
  • Mostly peaceful protesting expanded to include coolers full of poop

TIM MURTAUGH: All Biden Needed To Not Screw Up The Presidency Was Stay In His Basement, And He Failed.

The biggest issue facing the nation for the past year obviously has been the coronavirus, which has killed more than 600,000 Americans, infected nearly 34 million, and forced the economy into a near standstill last year.

As he entered office, however, the good news for Biden was that multiple vaccines already had been developed and with doses ramping up, thanks to former President Trump’s Operation Warp Speed. The economy was rebounding, and millions of jobs had returned. What was required of the new president was to not screw things up.

But at the four-month mark of his administration, Biden has badly mismanaged things, contributing to a cluster of problems that are increasingly spiraling out of control. Punchbowl News, an inside-the-Beltway email newsletter, downplayed Biden’s predicaments as mere “brushfires,” as though they were minor headaches to be addressed without much concern. But the nation is facing serious problems either immediately or lurking around the corner.

It feels like it’s been a long four years already.

WELL, YES: America’s Foreign Policy ‘Experts’ Are Projecting Their Own Failures Onto Jared Kushner.

Kushner-era policies—on Jerusalem, UNRWA, and regional diplomacy—were promised again and again to lead to an “explosion,” but didn’t. The return of the experts was supposed to improve lives and prospects for Israelis and Palestinians alike, but hasn’t. In fact, it was the foreign policy intelligentsia’s values and vision that have led to disaster.

Back in March, mere weeks into the new Biden administration, a leaked internal State Department memo outlined the contours of a new direction on American policy toward the Palestinian issue. The document called for renewed diplomatic ties with the Palestinian Authority, restoring aid that had been cut, renewing American contributions to UNRWA, putting pressure on Israel for moves in Jerusalem that would make a new Palestinian Authority election possible, and pursuing a two-state arrangement based roughly on the pre-1967 lines.

These were all priorities of the smart set miffed by a previous administration that was too close to Israel for their tastes. But they were also terrible ideas. Take the renewal of UNRWA funding. UNRWA is the U.N. agency dedicated to perpetuating, rather than solving, the Palestinian refugee problem. By cultivating the myth of a non-existent “right of return” rather than rehabilitating displaced persons and their descendants, UNRWA ensures that a negotiated two-state deal cannot be reached.

What possible U.S. interest is served by rescuing an institution that actively works against U.S. policies and interests?

Leftism is inherently hostile to America’s interests and institutions abroad and at home.

SPACE (OR VERY NEARLY): Virgin Galactic spaceplane makes it to boundary of space on third test flight.

The VSS Unity, one of Virgin Galactic’s SpaceShipTwo models, launched from Spaceport American in New Mexico on Saturday, May 22. VSS Unity is carried to altitude by a mothership, VMS Eve, from which it was released and hit a speed of Mach 3. Piloted by CJ Sturckow and Dave Mackay, Unity reached an altitude of 55.45 miles, then glided down back to Earth and landed on a runaway at Spaceport America.

Virgin Galactic shared a video, showing the Unity being released from the mothership and gaining altitude, and you can see it gliding along at the very edge of space.

Great video, and not only because there’s something inherently cool about spaceplanes.
