EVERYTHING IS GOING SWIMMINGLY: Hospital Struggles To Treat 18 Waukesha Parade Victims Because Of Vaccine Mandate. “The largest children’s hospital in Wisconsin has been struggling to care for patients in injured in the Waukesha Christmas parade attack on Nov. 21 in large part because of staffing shortages stemming from its COVID-19 vaccine mandate, multiple sources say.”

KRUISER’S MORNING BRIEF: New York’s New Governor Is Andrew Cuomo Without the Groping. “Guv Kathy wants to delay elective surgeries to deal with the problem that isn’t a problem. FYI, one of the main reasons that hospitals have been so busy in recent months is that they’re filled with people who had to delay surgeries last year, not because of ZOMG DELTA, as the MSM would have you believe.”

IT FAILS A LOT OF TESTS: Biden’s Build Back Better bill fails Manchin’s three-part test.

Manchin asks three questions about any proposed spending program: 1) Are proposed programs paid for? 2) Do they have bipartisan support? 3) And do they solve a specific problem facing his constituents?

Build Back Better clearly fails the first two parts of the test and probably fails the third as well.

As the Congressional Budget Office has confirmed, Build Back Better is in no way paid for, adding $791 billion to federal deficits in just five years. Over 10 years, the legislation only adds $367 billion to deficits, and the deficit reduction stems from the fact that the bill authorizes only a few years of new spending and then “pays” for it with 10 years of taxes. If the spending were extended to last as long as the taxes that “pay” for it, then the bill would add trillions to deficits.

Moving to the second test, Biden’s Build Back Better agenda didn’t receive a single bipartisan vote in the House, and no Republican senator has said they support the bill either. This legislation has zero bipartisan support.

On the last test, it is not exactly clear what problem the Build Back Better bill actually solves for West Virginians. Manchin has said the bill’s child tax credit expansion is anti-work and he wants the child care portion of the bill means-tested. He also clearly doesn’t believe the climate portions of the bill are good for his state’s economy.

Stand fast, Senator.

FREE FALL: Joe Biden’s Approval Now Underwater in 48 States. “To spend the holiday in a state where his approval is above water, Biden would need to head north. Vermont is one of only two states where Biden’s approval remains above 50%– at 55%, according to Civiqs survey for Biden’s job approval. The other is a much longer trip to the islands of Hawaii, where he is barely hanging on with 51% approval. Poll Project USA summarized the state-level findings in a chart.”

KRUISER’S MORNING BRIEF: America Is Awesome, Let’s Have Some Black Friday Fun. “Returning now from a rather brisk walk of my sister’s dogs in 26-degree Michigan morning weather. I don’t know how you cold weather people do this. I think you may all have mental problems.”

KRUISER’S MORNING BRIEF: Happy Thanksgiving…No, Really. “Thank you, dear readers, for checking in on this great holiday morning. Yes, the United States of America is in a bit of a pickle, but we still have much to be thankful for. I would like to spend a few words dwelling upon that.”

BIG, STUPID GOVERNMENT: ‘Strained’ hospitals? Blame government.

We keep hearing about “strain on our hospitals” sounding “alarm bells” because they are “nearing capacity” — because COVID-19. By instituting “temporary” indoor mask orders, we will “ease the burden” on hospitals.

Yes, COVID-19 hospitalizations are a contributing factor. However, things like the “elective procedures” backlog — singlehandedly created by government — are by far the biggest drivers.

Early Monday morning, my dad had a long-anticipated double-knee replacement surgery. While his recovery will be a long haul, the surgery itself went well and he will expertly tackle the physical therapy. My father is one of a growing number of Coloradans who are getting important medical treatment before the end of the year — often previously delayed by government edict.

As with numerous states last year, Colorado put the kibosh on most “elective procedures” to limit hospital visits. These weren’t just cosmetic surgeries; they included cancer screenings, cardiovascular procedures, orthopedic surgeries, and many more that help with pain, prevent long-term medical issues and improve quality of life.

Let’s be real: Unelected public health bureaucrats and Gov. Polis forced countless Coloradans to delay critical medical procedures. Now, in recent months, patients have been going in. The hospital backlog is finally being exposed.

The Law of Unintended Consequences always gets the last, bitter laugh.

RETIREMENT HOME?

Don’t even ask about its carbon footprint or proximity to the rising ocean.

LINCOLN BROWN: The Left’s Vigilantes. “The ‘right-thinking’ people of the Left would never sully their hands in dealing with their enemies directly. Even if they do not explicitly encourage burning car dealerships, looting stores, attacking police stations or beating up unsuspecting people on the street, they know that their rhetoric inspires and encourages it. They know that they have an army of angry, under-educated or willfully uneducated group of people, highly vulnerable to the power of suggestion — people who will burn down a city while Leftist leaders and media mavens gather at the Kennedy Center or the Met Gala to sip champagne as their colleagues and errand-runners try to convince us that a building engulfed in flames is a sign of a peaceful protest.”

THE WAR ON WOMEN: New Olympic Committee Rules Essentially End Women’s Sports. “The new rules are couched in ideas of anti-discrimination, but they are only about not discriminating against gender-nonconforming biological males who identify as transgender and use female pronouns, and in so doing, they directly discriminate against women.”
