WILL CORY GARDINER HAND SENATE CONTROL TO SCHUMER AND DURBIN? That’s a question heard with increasing frequency among D.C.’s campaign obsessives. Not a good sign, according to LifeZette’s Jim Stinson.

AND THAT’S THE END OF THE TRUMP-RUSSIA COLLUSION NONSENSE: So says former U.S. Attorney Joseph diGenova, speaking to LifeZette.

THIS WHITE HOUSE REPORTER WON’T MISS OMAROSA ONE BIT: As Clint Eastwood once said, a man [or quasi-celebrity Apprentice grad) should know his limits. More from LifeZette’s White House correspondent.

BERNIE SANDERS, MEET BERNIE SANDERS: One thing about the Internet, senator, is once you say it, it’s out there forever. LifeZette’s Jim Stinson has the details.

WHATEVER ELSE THE ROB PORTER SCANDAL MIGHT CAUSE: It’s prompted new attention to a huge problem that has been around for decades. Every federal civil servant must clear a comprehensive background check before being allowed to work for the taxpayers. Most of these checks are done by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management’s (OPM) National Background Investigations Bureau.

LifeZette’s Jim Stinson reports that Director of National Intelligence (DNI) Dan Coats told the Senate yesterday that an estimated 700,000 background checks have yet to be completed. On checks for jobs that require access to classified information, the wait can be a year or more before its completed. These realities may or may not shed light on why former White House staff secretary Rob Porter was able to remain on the job for so long.

When I served at OPM as a Reagan political appointee from November 1982 to June 1985, the backlog was in the thousands and growing despite heroic efforts by political and career employees alike. Things have only gotten worse, much worse. But at least the public now knows of yet another illustration of Big Government getting so big it can’t competently do even the most basic tasks competently and efficiently.

YOU ARE WHITE, HAVE YOU APOLOGIZED YET? Seattle University President Stephen Sundborg calls on all caucasians to admit their “privilege” and begin making up for it by adhering to his “10 Commitments for White America.”

Here’s one them: “All whites must ask themselves, how many black friends do I have? How many times have I been in their homes, enjoyed and relaxed with their families and lives, included them in my life? Friendship is the most essential fulcrum for prying loose white privilege.” Nothing wrong with that, millions of Americans do it routinely. But there’s more. Whites also must support and demonstrate with Black Lives Matter against the police.

Didn’t there use to be something about judging people solely on “the content of their character”? Elizabeth Economou has more at LifeZette.

THERE’S GOING TO BE A SHOWDOWN IN DALLAS IN JUNE: Pitting the aging liberal leaders of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship and its younger legions of radically pro-gay and transgender activists, according to Al Mohler. The former still believe the Bible is relevant, if only as a collection of interesting historical myths and moral suggestions. The latter don’t give two hoots in Hell what the Bible says, they demand an end to Baptists being judgmental, unless wealthy white conservatives are under examination.

NANCY PELOSI, MEET NANCY PELOSI: To be honest, shooting fish in a barrel is far more difficult than this.

COMEY IS WRITING A BOOK ON ‘GOOD, ETHICAL LEADERSHIP:’ No, I am not making this up. In fact, the publisher of the former FBI Director’s forthcoming tome is moving up the publication date to take advantage of what the Associated Press calls the “intense scrutiny” Comey is now getting. Here are just two of the many reasons critics and others wonder what this guy could possibly have to say on anything having to do with ethical leadership.

IT NEEDS CONSTANT UPDATES BUT HERE’S PELOSI’S LATEST TOP 10 DUMBEST QUOTES: There are so many to choose from, but somebody has to do it, so LifeZette’s Jim Stinson steps up to the plate.

SEN. JOE MANCHIN, MEET SEN. JOE MANCHIN: Rarely has a major flip-flop happened within such a comparatively short period of time and with such photographic evidence.

YOU WANT A REAL-LIFE GAME OF THRONES? WATCH TRUMP’S DRAINING THE SWAMP: When the final verdict is delivered on the Clintons, their foundation, Hillary’s email scandal and the Russia Collusion fantasy, one name is certain to be near the top of those who forced the truth out into the open – Charles Ortel.

IT’S ANOTHER BAD MESSAGING WEEK FOR TRUMP: Well, that’s how it appears from the White House, according to LifeZette’s Jim Stinson.

ADAM SCHIFF, MEET ADAM SCHIFF: Hypocrisy is traditionally understood to be the compliment vice pays to virtue. With the ranking Democrat on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, however, it’s hard not to see mendacity, pure and simple. LifeZette’s Jim Stinson looks into Schiff’s shifting.

HILLARY SAYS CLIMATE CHANGE WILL FORCE WOMEN ‘FIND THE FOOD … GATHER THE WOOD:” No, I am not making this one up, she really did say this. LifeZette’s Kathryn Blackhurst has the details.

THESE 5 FBI SCANDAL PLAYERS MAY NEVER GET OUT OF THE FISA WOODS: When former FBI Director James Comey and four Department of Justice/FBI colleagues signed off on FISA surveillance warrant applications based on the infamous Steele dossier, they may have violated a procedural rule for the secret judicial panel known as the Woods Rule. Here’s my H/T to former CBS News investigative reporter Sharyl Attkinsson, who appears to be the first journalist to point this out.

Texas Republican Rep. Louis Gohmert has an solution for clearing up all the major questions surrounding the FISA applications – release the transcripts of each application’s handling in the court. With those in hand, Gohmert told LifeZette, “we can determine, among other things, if there was a fraud perpetrated upon the court, whether the court failed to properly elicit sufficient information to justify the secret surveillance of an American citizen, and why the FISA court appears to have taken no action against any attorney if such attorney misled the court.”

IS THIS THE MOST PIVOTAL FEDERAL JUDGE YOU’VE NEVER HEARD OF? FISA Court Judge James Boasberg is why Osama bin Laden’s death photos have never been seen outside the Pentagon. He’s also the reason 14,000 of Hillary Clinton’s emails were made public.

But those decisions may pale by comparison with Boasberg’s decision Friday to keep you from reading any of the seven memos former FBI Director James Comey wrote to himself (and partially leaked to a buddy at Columbia Law School) on his conversations with President Trump.

OBAMA’S COVERUP FOR CLINTON WAS WORSE THAN COLLUSION: Among the least discussed facets of the Clinton email scandal has been former President Barack Obama’s obvious approval of what his Secretary of State was doing. Nobody has produced a shred of credible evidence that President Donald Trump “colluded” with Russia, yet Obama knew Clinton was using a private server and how that jeopardized national security. Charles Ortel probes deeper in LifeZette this morning.

CLINTONS HAVE USED FBI AGAINST ENEMIES FOR YEARS: Nunes memo made clear the Clinton campaign and the DNC it controlled on behalf of Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton paid for the Steele dossier. But don’t think this was Hillary’s first foray into using and abusing federal law enforcement against political opponents. Remember Filegate? I do.

SHOULDN’T THE DYING HAVE THE “RIGHT TO TRY” UNAPPROVED TREATMENTS HERE? President Donald Trump’s shout-out to the “Right-to-Try” movement during his State of the Union Address should give a boost to a movement that has received little attention in recent years. LifeZette’s Brendan Kirby talks to a key leader in the movement, and a critic who says the FDA already has a provision for the terminally ill to try experimental treatments here in the states, rather than having to travel to Mexico, Europe or elsewhere.

HOW INVITING A TARGET FOR TERRORISTS IS 200 CONGRESSMEN ON ONE TRAIN? That’s a question a few folks are starting to ask in the wake of Wednesday’s Amtrak train collision with a garbage truck at a rural Virginia crossing. The train carried an estimated 200 Members of Congress, aides and family members. One strategically placed Improvised Explosive Device (IED) could have killed how many, 50, 100, more lawmakers? LifeZette’s Jim Stinson talks to Sebastian Gorka and others saying wait a minute.

DID OBAMA FOLLOW CLINTONS’ EXAMPLE ON TRASHING RECORDS? Good question and one that ought to get the attention of multiple officials in federal law enforcement and document retention. Charles Ortel lays it out on LifeZette. Are you listening, National Archivist David Ferriero?

DIANNE FEINSTEIN, MEET DIANNE FEINSTEIN: LifeZette’s Jim Stinson dug into the senior California senator’s past statements on immigration issues and found some real gems. She probably doesn’t find them all that shiny, however.

MEDIA PRAISED THE PRESIDENT THEY LOATH, AT LEAST FOR ONE NIGHT: You know Trump hit the mark when CBS finds 75-25 approval for his State of the Union address and CNN’s Jake Tapper heard “beautiful prose.”

WAS DONALD TRUMP CHANNELING BILL CLINTON’S 1995 SOTU? Brendan Kirby at LifeZette checked the clips and found some uncanny similarities between Trump’s statements on immigration issues and those made by Slick Willie to the first Republican Congress in 40 years.
