I’m putting that fact in a headline because somebody needs to.
For the past 15 months, most “news” outlets have been skirting around one simple fact: Kyle Rittenhouse has never shot a black person. Joseph Rosenbaum and Anthony Huber, the men who were killed while attacking Rittenhouse, were both white. Gaige Grosskreutz, the man who was shot while pointing a gun at Rittenhouse, is white.
A lot of people still don’t know that fact, because the media they trust to give them the news has hidden it from them. It doesn’t fit the preferred narrative. It doesn’t help promote “social justice.”

A lot of libs are preparing themselves for the emotional shock of not getting what they want, just because the evidence is completely against them. If they don’t get the result they want, they have to blame anybody but themselves.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Kyle Rittenhouse is neither a hero nor a terrorist. He got in over his head that night and defended his life against people who were attacking him. Self-defense is not murder, even when the press wants it to be because they’re so obsessed with race that they brand someone a white supremacist for shooting three white people.
I just hope it’s too cold in Kenosha right now for anybody to riot. That’s what these ghouls want. More rioting. More destruction. More blood for the blood god.

When she is not hosting her own show on MSNBC, Stephanie Ruhle doubles as the network’s senior business correspondent and it was in that role that she lamented to MTD Daily host Chuck Todd that the Biden Administration is not telling their supposedly “great economic story.”
On Wednesday it was reported that inflation has reached a 31 year high, which led Todd to declare: “So, bottom line is, this is something that it, this has got to just work itself out, and, you know, the Democrats are the ones in charge so they’re going to pay the price of this sort of short term economic frustration.”
Ruhle agreed with the political logic of Todd’s claim, but added “it’s unfortunate” because “the Democrats don’t do a great job of telling their economic story.”

CAPITALISM: THE UNKNOWN IDEAL. Joe Biden Invoked ‘I, Pencil’ To Explain Supply Chains, but He Seems To Have Missed the Point:
“Products like smartphones often bring together parts from France, Italy, chips from the Netherlands, touchscreens from New York state, camera components from Japan,” the president continued, before acknowledging that “global supply chains have helped dramatically bring down the price we pay for the things we buy.”
Yes, yes, yes, exactly right.
But—and you knew there had to be a “but” coming—it took Biden less than five minutes to toss all that aside and begin promoting his “Buy American” agenda. That “won’t just be a promise but an ironclad reality,” he promised.
What happened to the wood from Brazil and the graphite from India being used to make pencils here, one might wonder.
The simplicity of the pencil-making metaphor destroys the performative politics of Biden’s “Buy American” rules, which will accomplish little besides forcing taxpayers to pay higher prices for just about everything the government purchases. Those rules also mean that Biden’s just-passed $1 trillion infrastructure spending plan—Wednesday’s speech was a victory lap moment for the president—will be less significant than it otherwise would be.
And it means that Biden didn’t really digest the meaning of “I, Pencil.”
The lesson Read offers in the essay’s final paragraph is thus: “Leave all creative energies uninhibited…let society’s legal apparatus remove all obstacles the best it can. Permit these creative know-hows to freely flow.”
Notice that there is nothing in there about how you should stop the free-flowing of creative energy if less than 50 percent of it was manufactured in the United States. There’s also nothing about import quotas or tariffs. Maybe next time Biden’s speechwriters will read all the way to the end.

JOE BIDEN AND THE REALITIES OF THE N-WORD:
“If you didn’t vote for Biden, you ain’t black,” tweeted 2020 Florida Republican congressional candidate Lavern Spicer on Thursday, “I guess you’re a negro.” Spicer, who is black, was referring to President Joe Biden’s latest gaffe.
Delivering his first Veterans Day address at Arlington National Cemetery to a nation reeling from the baleful effects of his failed presidency, and amid historically low approval ratings, Biden referred to the 1940s black baseball player Satchel Paige as “the great negro,” apparently because Paige could still competitively play at age 47.
Biden’s history with race is, at the risk of using a woke euphemism, troubled. He is old enough to have a checkered record on segregation, having called racially integrated schools a “jungle” and a place where he would not care to send his own children. As a senator, he at least purportedly wrote and then sponsored the 1994 crime bill, which the progressive left identifies as the core federal legislation responsible for what it believes to be “systemic racism” inherent in America’s criminal justice system. More recent gaffes include the one Spicer mocked on Twitter, in which presidential candidate Biden condescended to a black interviewer, who, upon remarking to a departing Biden that he had more questions for him, was told that all black voters would vote for the future president because of the color of their skin (nearly one in five black males voted for Donald Trump in 2020). Earlier in the campaign, Biden told a town hall meeting hosted by the Asian and Latino Coalition that “poor kids are just as bright and just as talented as white kids.”

JOSEPH CAMPBELL: After a misfire in New Jersey, pollster offers a remarkable apology for error.
Two days after the election, Patrick Murray, director of the Monmouth poll, publicly embraced his survey’s error, resorting to none of the grudging defensiveness that’s common when pollsters address their failings. That made Murray’s acknowledgement of responsibility as remarkable as it was candid. “I blew it,” he declared in a commentary posted at NJ.com. “The final Monmouth University Poll margin did not provide an accurate picture of the state of the governor’s race.”
Murray apologized in the next paragraph to the Murphy and Ciattarelli campaigns, noting that “inaccurate public polling can have an impact on fundraising and voter mobilization efforts. But most of all,” he added, “I owe an apology to the voters of New Jersey for information that was at the very least misleading.”
It was a statement of regret of a kind the polling industry seldom sees. In a way, Murray’s comments evoked the admonition of Warren Mitofsky, the innovative director of surveys for CBS News who died in 2006. “There’s a lot of room for humility in polling,” Mitofsky said in 1998, at the 50th anniversary of election polling’s greatest debacle, President Harry Truman’s stunning victory over Republican Thomas E. Dewey.
“Every time you get cocky, you lose,” Mitofsky added.
Don’t get cocky, to coin an Insta-phrase.
WILLIAM A. JACOBSON: The media framed Kyle Rittenhouse — and won’t come clean even after the prosecution’s case falls apart.
Media malpractice has come full circle in Kenosha, Wis.
Kyle Rittenhouse’s trial for the shooting deaths of two people and the wounding of another is nearing its end, with the jury expected to get the case soon. The shootings took place as riots, arson and looting shook Kenosha after police shot Jacob Blake on August 23, 2020. The violence fed off the nationwide riots and looting that followed the May death of George Floyd in Minneapolis police custody.
From the start, the media misrepresented the Blake case and ensuing riots. They portrayed Blake as an unarmed man who just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, subjected to police brutality due to racism.
The truth was far different.
After an intensive investigation, prosecutors declared Blake’s shooting a justifiable use of force. The federal Justice Department reached the same conclusion. Contrary to media portraits, Blake was armed with a knife and was shot when he turned in a slashing motion at a policeman within arm’s reach.
While it wouldn’t be fair to say the media coverage caused the Kenosha riots, the press downplayed the mayhem and ramped up the hysteria. As with the Black Lives Matter riots in Minneapolis and beyond, the mainstream media incessantly focused away from the violence, despite almost 20 related deaths and more than $1 billion in damage.
Perhaps the most notorious example is CNN reporter Omar Jimenez standing in front of burning buildings in Kenosha with the on-air chyron reading, “Fiery but mostly peaceful protests after police shooting.” The phrase “mostly peaceful” is now a popular internet meme used to mock distorted mainstream media coverage.
It’s happening again with the Rittenhouse case, which was born in the Kenosha riots. From the media coverage leading up to the trial, one would think Rittenhouse was a white supremacist militia member who traveled to Kenosha to shoot up peaceful protesters.
But as has been widely documented, the case is going poorly for the prosecution. While I’m not predicting an outcome, having followed the case carefully, I can say that Rittenhouse has a strong case for self-defense.

JON GRUDEN SUES NFL, ROGER GOODELL: “‘The complaint alleges that the defendants selectively leaked Gruden’s private correspondence to the Wall Street Journal and New York Times in order to harm Gruden’s reputation and force him out of his job,’ Gruden’s attorney Adam Hosmer-Henner said. ‘There is no explanation or justification for why Gruden’s emails were the only ones made public out of the 650,000 emails collected in the NFL’s investigation of the Washington Football Team or for why the emails were held for months before being released in the middle of the Raiders’ season.’”
QUESTION ASKED AND ANSWERED: What Does It Say That This Administration Was Surprised by Bad Inflation Numbers?
The first ten months of the Biden administration have brought more than their fair share of unnerving revelations, reports, and rumors, but this line in a Washington Post story from Wednesday is a giant flashing neon sign that this White House is every bit as out of touch as you fear: “Senior White House officials were greatly disappointed by Wednesday’s report and surprised at how serious the inflationary problems are throughout the economy, according to people familiar with the matter. The report also fueled mounting concerns about supply chain bottlenecks.”
Surprised? We’ve been seeing building and worsening signs of increasing inflation since at least early summer, if not earlier. It’s bad enough if the president runs around insisting no serious economist believes there is unchecked inflation; it’s worse if the president and his staff actually believe what they’re saying.

ROGER SIMON: Why ‘The Party of Science’ Disdains ‘Natural Immunity.’
As it happens, Wednesday morning I had the pleasure of talking for 20 minutes or so with an especially sane voice and a newfound hero of mine—Rep. Diana Harshbarger, who is the congresswoman from Tennessee’s 1st District (East Tennessee).
A newcomer to Congress, Ms. Harshbarger spent decades as a pharmacist—indeed a compounding pharmacist, which requires extensive training and licensing—and is a member of the House doctors’ caucus, so she knows whereof she speaks on matters of drug treatment.
She has been leading the charge via legislation to fight the Biden administration’s biased (against red states) distribution of monoclonal antibodies, which are one of the most successful treatments for the disease.
In October, she also introduced a bill in the House to require federal agencies to acknowledge natural immunity to COVID-19, the aptly named Natural Immunity Is Real Act.
So she was a perfect person to ask why she thought the Democrats—aka “The Party of Science,” or so our learned president tells us—ignores natural immunity in favor of taking a militant stand on mandates.
Rep. Harshbarger’s reply: “When it comes to people’s individual rights to control what they put in their body, nobody should say you have to do that. That’s your individual freedom they are trying to take. It’s what’s happening to our country in the loss of our rights over the last nine months, not to mention this month, that we never thought we would ever see.
“They’re trying to dominate us, to take our energy access away. We’re not energy independent anymore. We rely on foreign countries. We’re letting illegals in by the truckload. And now things are going to be rationed.”
And then the congresswoman got to the crux of my question: “I attribute everything to control. The mandate is just part of the process of controlling the narrative of the way our country is going. It’s all about control.”
Indeed, it is. I told Rep. Harshbarger that I couldn’t agree more. It is all about the “c.” It has little or nothing to do to with medicine or health, although those people standing in line on the Upper West Side don’t realize it.
And speaking of the “c” word, the manipulation of science for political ends is hardly new. Most notably, Stalin did it, calling Western genetics a “bourgeois pseudoscience” and imprisoning 3,000 scientists for questioning the work of his loyal communist scientist Trofim Lysenko.

But it’s because of that uncomfortable truth that the left and the media (but I repeat myself) are now proceeding to attack the judge in the case (Bruce Schroeder), in part, because he’s repeatedly admonished the prosecution and because he allegedly has the “God Bless the USA” song as a ringtone on his phone (a song that was played at Trump rallies). But it’s mostly just because the prosecution has just done a garbage job of proving their case to the jury, which has caused a LOT of heartbreak in leftist circles.
While yesterday’s ringtone attack was about as dumb as it gets, today’s attack on Judge Schroeder just may take the cake. And very few reading this will be shocked to find out that today’s attack was inarguably driven by “reporters” at CNN.
It started with a video tweet from CNN reporter Kyung Lah, who apparently is covering the trial for the network. In her tweet, she provided a quick recap of comments made by Schroeder shortly before lunchtime regarding a timeline for the arrival of the Asian food that had presumably been ordered for him and members of the court. “I hope the Asian food isn’t coming.. isn’t on one of those boats from Long Beach Harbor,” he stated[.]
The insinuation behind Lah’s tweet could not have been more clear. Schroeder (supposedly) made a derogatory comment about Asian cuisine/people. Gasp! Racism! Anti-Asian attack!
And for those who didn’t get the insinuation at first, CNN field producer Julia Vargas Jones made sure to translate it into a form of woke-speak (Lah also made sure to retweet her colleague for emphasis):

When President Joe Biden spoke at Arlington National Cemetery during Thursday’s Veterans Day ceremony, his words once again became the story instead of what he was attempting to highlight.
As Townhall highlighted on Twitter, Biden — in the course of telling a story — tried to tell an anecdote about Satchel Paige in which Biden referred to him as “the great Negro at the time.” Watch for yourself:
There it is, on video for perpetuity, Biden making another gaffe. Nevertheless, the folks at Mediaite decided to pretend we didn’t see and hear what we did in fact see and hear.
“No, Joe Biden Did Not Refer to Satchel Paige as a ‘Negro’ During Veterans Day Speech,” Mediaite claimed. Silly Americans, you didn’t hear what you just heard, we know what he *meant* to say.
One would hope that Biden meant to say something else, but he didn’t. His twin teleprompters were rolling there for him, all he had to do was read them. Instead, he botched the line and ended up calling Satchel Paige “the great Negro, at the time.”

JIM TREACHER: Voting for Black People Is Racist If They’re Republicans. Responding to the FiveThirtyEight article headlined, “Why White Voters With Racist Views Often Still Support Black Republicans,” Treacher writes:
Back in the old days, the Klan would put on white hoods and burn a cross on a black person’s lawn. In 2021, they put on MAGA hats and show up at the polls to vote for a black person. It’s basically literally the same thing, when you don’t think about it.
Now get it right, you racist:
In any disagreement between a black person and a white person, the white person is always wrong. Except when the black person is a Republican, in which case the black person doesn’t really count as a black person because Republicans are all white people. So the actual white people who oppose the black Republican are really the victims of racism by proxy, because all white people are racists unless they vote Democrat.
See? This isn’t hard, you dumb rednecks. Isn’t it so much better than thinking for yourself?

By “guilted” I mean the knotted, clotted rage of the left against pretty much the entire country. This rage has dominated the mediascape and institutional mood this past half decade. It has become the hobby, the very bad habit, of the elite to hector and browbeat all the little people going about their business in the workaday world, to blame us all for a whole rap sheet of offenses.
Every platform in America became a pulpit in the 2010s for telling the plebs and proles in “Palookaville” (a certain Alinsky acolyte’s favorite term of contempt for the utterly forgettable hometown of Joe Sixpack) that they were knuckle-dragging bigots just looking for some homosexual or Muslim to beat up. “Pin the blame on the whole nation” sells well in the Hamptons. I get it. But it has become a complete joke everywhere else, from the bien-pensant suburbs, to the black neighborhoods which suffer the most from the consequences of the left’s blame obsession.
The left grew intoxicated by this idiotic accuse-everyone exercise, which quickly went from annoying to intolerable to just plain absurd. Los Angeles Times columnist Erika D. Smith, for example, an encyclopedia-entry-worthy representative of the Haranguing Wing of the unhinged left, actually called Larry Elder, who ran for governor of California earlier in 2021, the “Black face of white supremacy.” Black conservative Candace Owens has also been accused of this logically untenable crime. When even black people are “white supremacists,” one would think the air brakes on the leftmobile would kick in and the Democrats would try to circle back around to some common sense. But no.
