NO PIMPING IN THE NAME OF NATIONAL RECONCILIATION: A paraphrase of an assessment of Elijah Cummings’ behavior found in the linked article:

Elijah Cummings, the Maryland Democrat who pimped his own reputation to protect the Clintons during investigations of Hillary’s email server and the Benghazi terrorist massacre of 2012, tried to cover for the Clintons again. This time in the name of national reconciliation. “After everything our country has just been through—and particularly given that Donald Trump and [House Speaker] Paul Ryan have both called for healing our nation’s divisions — I think the American people deserve more from Congress than to continue squandering taxpayer dollars on these baseless Republican accusations and partisan attacks,” he said in a statement, according to The Washington Post.

Yes, Cummings harmed his own reputation. Read Part IV of the Select Committee on Benghazi’s report. You’ll find indications that several things Cummings said and did vaguely stink of obstruction of justice.

Obama had better not pardon Hillary Clinton.

At the moment Rudy Giuliani is delivering that message.

On an appearance Thursday on “Fox & Friends,” Giuliani said there is simply too much at stake for the questions swirling around Hillary and the Clinton Foundation to go unanswered. Washington is already buzzing with the possibility that Obama could grant Clinton some kind of a pardon to protect her from prosecution after Attorney General Loretta Lynch is no longer in charge of the Justice Department. Justice demands those questions be answered, Giuliani told the panel.

Indeed. Trump’s voters overlooked his words. They did not overlook her crimes.

NUCLEAR COUNTER-STRIKE ON HARRY REID: Dirty Harry Reid threatened to nuke Republican filibusters of a President Hillary Supreme Court nominee. And in 2013 Dirty Harry actually limited Republican filibusters.

In 2013, Senate Democrats changed the filibuster rules on most of Obama’s nominees, allowing their approval by simple majority but left the 60-vote hurdle intact for Supreme Court nominations.

Scott Walker is recommending the Republican Senate eliminate the filibuster for Trump’s Supreme Court nominees. Nuclear counter-strike, Harry. It’s what happens when you start nuclear war.

Republicans pulled off a political stunner Tuesday night — running the table down-ballot and keeping control of the House and Senate, CNN projects. In a year when the GOP was almost entirely on defense, the party’s incumbents — many outspent and hobbled by struggling campaigns — managed to survive a political landscape that long appeared all but certain to cost them the Senate.

Whoops. Maybe the CNN link won’t serve. RE: “entirely on defense”? Hey, CNN, can you end the spin? Hillary was on the defensive, you blinkered fools. She’s a criminal and American voters knew it. Apparently you didn’t know it. Or if you knew she was a crook you decided to ignore it.

DING DONG HILLARY CONCEDES: According to CNN she has conceded. But who can believe CNN? Good point. The mainstream media lost this election, which makes this a big win for the American people. As for the ding dong — the wicked mishandler of classified information is still with us…but Obama had better not pardon her.

UPDATE: Trump says he wasn’t running a campaign, but participating in a movement. “The forgotten men and women in our country will be forgotten no longer.”

What are we looking at — considering the vote totals at 2:15 AM EST? Will Trump take slightly over 300 electoral votes? Damn, he was supposed to lose! 300+ electoral votes are an estimate. The vote totals are incomplete. So let’s agree it isn’t over until it’s over. All the dead Democrats have yet to vote. The Robert Creamer Democrat thugs are out there, ready to incite violence.

But. But. But whatever the final count, it sure looks like the crooked leftist media lost.

AT THE MOMENT: At the moment it appears we will see –as the sun rises– a Republican House, a Republican Senate, a leftist crooked Democrat media, a corrupt federal bureaucracy, a corrupt political elite and a nationalist president. Of course, we also have an angry American electorate. Which one is more powerful?

Will mainstream media reports mention Project Veritas’ videos which exposed Robert Creamer, the Democrat operative who employed political terror to disrupt Trump rallies? That would establish context for assessing election violence.

IS THE U.S. ON THE “RIGHT TRACK OR THE WRONG TRACK”?: It’s a pollster question. Democrat whines to the contrary, ObamaCare is collapsing. It’s definitely “wrong track.” My last Observer essay documented that legislation’s miserable history.

Which leads to a point worth making this election day.

The language in the ObamaCare law was intentionally obscure.

James Madison in Federalist 62 warned us that “incoherent” legislation was wrong track:

“…It will be of little avail to the people that the laws are made by men of their own choice if the laws be so voluminous that they cannot be read, or so incoherent that they cannot be understood…”

But “incoherent” served the Obama Administration’s political aims. My essay quotes one of the liars who helped concoct the law, the infamous Jonathan Gruber and links to an article at The Hill which which documents Gruber’s pride in falsehood:

“Lack of transparency is a huge political advantage,” Gruber said. “And basically, call it the stupidity of the American voter or whatever, but basically that was really, really critical for the thing to pass.” Gruber made the comment while discussing how the law was “written in a tortured way” to avoid a bad score from the Congressional Budget Office. He suggested that voters would have rejected ObamaCare if the penalties for going without health insurance were interpreted as taxes, either by budget analysts or the public.

ObamaCare was a fraud from the get-go. Even after passing it no one really knows what’s in it. Donald Trump knows at least half of America is totally fed up with this kind of political fraud.

TRUMP CAMPAIGN FILES LAWSUIT IN NEVADA: Late last week a Nevada county extended early voting hours. According to the report the action was legal. The Trump campaign objected — Nevada is Dirty Harry Reid country. The Trump campaign wants to be able to separate early voting ballots from election day ballots. Forget the fat lady and the opera. This election may not be over after it’s over.

USING CARBON 14 TO DETERMINE THE AGE OF ILLEGAL IVORY: And DNA to help determine where the elephant lived. Chemical analysis indicates poachers produce most of the illegal ivory on the market. A number of people thought crooked governments were selling from old ivory stocks.

Thure Cerling at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City and his colleagues measured the decay of carbon-14 isotopes in 231 ivory tusks, confiscated between 2002 and 2014, to determine when the elephants they were taken from had died…By combining their measurements with earlier analysis of the tusks’ DNA, the researchers were able to tell where the poached elephants had lived.

“…puts to rest a speculation which has been at the back of everyone’s mind,” says George Wittemyer, a conservation ecologist and elephant specialist at Colorado State University in Fort Collins. Some had wondered whether corrupt governments were contributing to the ivory trade by selling off old ivory, bit by bit, from stockpiles built up over years.”

A NEW SOLARIUM WARGAME?: Steve Metz says a 2017 edition of Ike’s 1953 analytic game would help “re-set” US global strategy. I wonder if Metz’ Solarium 2017 will be classified or could be kept classified — fair question given Hillary’s record. Ike’s “seminar-type game” was top secret and remained top secret until the mid-1980s. Ike’s Project Solarium analysis produced a Top Secret document, NSC 162/2, which articulated the strategic concepts that guided US Cold War security policy. Note I said guided, not dictated. To use a phrase Metz uses, it provided “conceptual clarity.” As Metz notes, during the Cold War the US could focus on one primary opponent, the USSR. After 1991 the bi-polar world faded and multi-polar conflicts returned. Since then there have scores (if not hundreds) of serious attempts to do what Metz advises, “reassess the fundamental organizing concepts of American security” in a multi-polar world. Some of these attempts have used Solarium-like methods.

Did these assessments have the president’s focused attention? I doubt they did. It was different in 1953. Ike possessed one of the country’s finest strategic minds. He was a highly experienced Army officer who understood the benefits conducting “structured, participatory thinking exercises” — that’s a phrase I’ve used to describe seminar-type war games. Ike initiated Solarium and made the final assessment of the team reports. We don’t have an Ike in the White House now, and we won’t in 2017.

Which is actually a good reason to conduct a Solarium 2017. Solarium 2017 would be a valuable training exercise for our new president.

ISLAMIC STATE MASS EXECUTION SITE DISCOVERED NEAR MOSUL: It appears the victims were detainees who were tortured and beheaded.

A mass grave of 100 headless bodies has been found south of Mosul in a town that was recently recaptured from Islamic State, the Iraqi Army said on Monday. The grave was found in the grounds of the agricultural college in Hammam al-Alil, 15 kilometres south of Mosul, according to a statement from the army’s military information office. State television said the victims appeared to have been killed recently and were likely to have been detainees who had been held and tortured by Islamic State.
