ANOTHER REASON WE SHOULD NEVER HAVE IT: George Soros wants on-line voting. (Hat tip Drudge.) The article notes Soros made this a priority two years ago. Breitbart got the info from a leaked Open Society Foundations’ document. As Glenn says, paper ballots, please.

TRUMP PROVIDES A FEW SPECIFICS ON EDUCATION POLICY: Does he support Title I portability? Good question and thoughtful commentary by Jason Russell.
Excerpt:
Trump’s plan echoes the idea of what in the education policy world is called “Title I portability.” In federal education legislation, Title I funding provides states and school districts with extra funding if they have a disproportionately high number of students living in poverty. The federal government spends roughly $14 billion a year on Title I, or about $500 to $600 per student. If those funds were portable, it would mean students would have several hundred dollars to use toward their education at a school other than the local school they’re assigned to.
SOMEWHERE IN HIS WASHINGTON-SHRUNKEN-SOUL: Our FBI Director knows he let a crook go free. In 1974 obstruction of justice drove Nixon from the White House. In 2016 it’s a major component of Hillary’s White House campaign. (My latest NY Observer column.)
MORE ON NORTH KOREA’S LATEST NUCLEAR TEST: How powerful was the nuke? “…more powerful than the bomb dropped on Hiroshima, according to some estimates.” The seismic footprint indicated the device produced a 20 kiloton to 30 kiloton blast. The NorKs intend to build a standardized and miniaturized nuclear weapon. Then they’ll mount them on ballistic missiles. Then what? Well, they routinely threaten South Korea, the US and Japan with nuclear attack. Have a nice day.
HYPER-PARTISANSHIP BEHIND THE BASHING OF MATT LAUER’S PERFORMANCE AT THE COMMANDER-CHIEF-FORUM: Well, yeah. Lauer actually asked Hillary some tough questions. Poor Howard Kurtz has noticed the attacks on Lauer. And Howard’s upset about those vicious attacks, as well he should be. He’s also noticed that most of the attacks on Lauer come from the Left. Howard, please review this history lesson, written for you, personally.
JUST HOW MUCH MONEY DID OBAMA GIVE IRAN?: Testifying before a House Financial Services Committee sub-committee, Mark Dubowitz, executive director of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, said “the worst-case scenario here is that Iran may have received as much as $33.6 billion in cash or in gold and other precious metals.”

NATO AND MONTENEGRO: The Balkan Powderkeg may have less powder than it did in 1912, 1914 and 1991, but there are still a lot of small fires.
MY LATEST NEW YORK OBSERVER ESSAY: Hillary’s waging a relentless War On Honesty. In early July FBI Director Jim Comey covered for her crimes. Now the tarnished FBI big shot has a chance to redeem his cowardly betrayal of the Rule of Law as The BleachBit Timeline exposes her criminal obstruction of justice.
SEATTLE SEAHAWKS PROMISE PRE-GAME DEMONSTRATION OF UNITY: They’ll honor the country and the flag.
Former Seahawk and Green Beret veteran Nate Boyer also gave a hint at what may be to come with a Tweet reading “Talked to the Seahawks. What the team will do is a powerful sign of unification + respect for the Anthem + those that fight for our Freedom!”
The article quotes Boyer as saying ““I spoke with the players, and they realize that 9/11 is a very important day in our nation’s history.”
HONG KONG’S DEMOCRACY: As explained by The Economist. (If you hit a paywall, try this.)
SOMEONE TELL THE FBI OBSTRUCTION OF JUSTICE IS CRIMINAL: Hillary’s BleachBit Timeline.
CULINARY FOSSIL: A snake swallowed a lizard who swallowed an insect. Then the snake died and fossilized. The pictures and explanatory images are extraordinary.

VETERAN TELLS HILLARY HE’D BE IN JAIL IF HE’D MISHANDLED CLASSIFIED INFORMATION LIKE SHE DID: Yes, this happened, on MSNBC’s live “commander in chief” forum.
Here’s the vet’s question:
“Had I communicated this information not following prescribed protocols, I would have been prosecuted and imprisoned,” said the veteran, identified by MSNBC as a Republican. “Secretary Clinton, how can you expect those such as myself who were and are trusted with America’s most sensitive information to have any confidence in your leadership as president when you clearly corrupted our national security?”
Her response is UB — utter blarney.

SYRIAN RED LINE UPDATE: Yesterday Assad government helicopters dropped barrels of chlorine on a rebel neighborhood in Aleppo. I’m linking to this VOA report because it includes a photo of hospitalized victims receiving treatment after a similar chlorine gas attack in August. Remember Obama’s warning? Our Feckless Leader said use of chemical weapons by the Assad regime was a red line…As Emily Litella would say: “Never mind.”

AN UPDATE ON THE LATEST NORTH KOREAN MISSILE VOLLEY: According to UPI, Japanese radars and other sensor systems failed to identify the “incoming tracks” of the three missiles North Korea launched on September 5. If the Japanese tracking systems had correctly identified the missiles flight paths, the report says Japan would have tried to intercept the missiles. The missiles landed inside Japan’s maritime Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ). So stay tuned.
A LOOK AT THE GULEN SCHOOLS IN TURKEY: This opinion essay (written by a Radio Free Europe program director) describes how the Gulen movement became a very powerful social and political force in Turkey. The story of a young Kurdish girl who attended a Gulen school in Ankara 20 years ago is the narrative frame. Her parents were initially impressed by the private school’s self-proclaimed educational excellence. Its low cost sealed the deal. Then, as their daughter’s behavior changed, they became suspicious of the Gulen movement’s intentions. Her mother feared she was “being brainwashed.” So they withdrew her. Something was not quite right with Hoca Efendi’s (Gulen’s nickname) rigid socialization system…
Read the essay to find out what wasn’t quite right. Also, note her father emphasized a historical fact that the July coup has obscured:
… But what makes me angry is that Erdogan and Gulen were the right and left hands of the same body until 2013, supporting each other. Now one [Erdogan] is fighting a war against the other [Gulen], laying all the blame in the world on his former ally.”
As long as Gulen helped Erdogan, “not quite right” was OK.

MAMMOTH PIRATES: “Tuskers” in Siberia sell “ethical ivory” to China. No, I’m not kidding. Ivory from extinct mammoths. Dig a 65 kilogram tusk out of the permafrost and you can sell it for $34,000 to an agent. Ah, but the mark up. When sculpted by master carvers a pair will “regularly sell for more than $1 million each.” (Scroll through the article to see the pair on display in Hong Kong.) Tuskers occasionally find woolly rhinoceros horns — these are sold in Vietnam.
INDIA AND VIETNAM EXPAND MILITARY TIES: Bad behavior in Beijing has consequences. (If you hit a pay wall try this.)
Excerpt:
The alliance between India and Vietnam is set to develop further in the wake of Mr. Modi’s visit. India is negotiating to sell supersonic Brahmos cruise missiles to Vietnam, a deal that might also include the stationing of Indian technicians there to maintain the hardware. Defense analysts say the weapons are ideally suited to taking out naval targets.
…ideally suited to taking out naval targets in the South China Sea.

MORE THAN A BIT OF IRONY HERE, I BELIEVE: Obama tells Turkey’s Erdogan it’s important to secure the border (Turkish-Syrian border). They met at the G20 economic summit in Hangzhou, China.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT, MY LATEST WAR ON HONESTY COLUMN: (Bumped.) Was Trump’s trip to Mexico rabbit out of the hat election magic? It’s Number XIII in the series. As for the series, just remember that in 2012 the Dems declared Repubs were waging War On Women. But the War On Honesty is for real. Hillary’s certainly waging War On Honesty, aided and abetted by a lap dog mainstream media (subject of Number XI).
HONG KONG HOLDS AN ELECTION TODAY FOR ITS LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL: This is the first election since 2014’s pro-democracy protests. A younger bloc of voters is mulling independence. “A growing yearning for independence and animosity towards Beijing in the southern coastal city pose one of the central government’s most pressing domestic political issues.” Gee, why don’t they trust the Communist government in Beijing?

NAVY BRINGS IN A PLAYER FROM THE STANDS: He’s a freshman and he didn’t suit up because he’s way down the depth chart as a quarterback. But in today’s game Navy’s starting quarterback got hurt and the midshipman in the stands was told to suit up. He eventually got into the game. SBNation writer Rodger Sherman remembers Texas Aggie lore of a player coming out of the stands — then he ends up needling Aggies, albeit mildly.
A key moment in college football lore is that about a century ago, Texas A&M had to grab a 12th man out of the stands to complete a game. You’d think in the modern era of college football we’d never have a moment like that, but Navy had to grab a freshman quarterback out of its stands in the season opener against Fordham.
