A month has passed and it’s confirmed that the FBI’s investigation of Hillary’s crimes was not simply incompetent, it was rigged. Comey ought to be impeached.

GLOBAL DEBT: Business Insider reports that the IMF believes world-wide debt is $152 trillion. This is “…the highest gross debt ever recorded. The debt-to-GDP ratio is also at an all-time high of 225%, up from 200% 14 years ago.”

This is non-financial public and private sector debt combined.

Here is Zero Hedge’s take on the report.

No one really knows the real global debt total, other than “it’s really big.” I gave a speech a year ago to a professional group that briefly discussed some of the total debt estimates (I emphasize briefly). In September 2015 total US federal debt was a little less than $20 trillion. Estimates for total US debt (including state, local government and private debt) ranged from $55 trillion to $60 trillion, with the higher figure given credence. Every source agreed total global debt exceeded $200 trillion. $230 trillion was a common estimate. This Bloomberg report says global debt went over $200 trillion in 2014. A Wall Street Journal article I read last year said the world exceeded $200 trillion in 2013. A trillion here, a trillion there. This LA Times analysis (July 2016) has some more recent debt figures.

OBAMACARE PROBLEMS ARE A CAMPAIGN ISSUE: Small businesses are screaming about reporting requirements as well as rising costs. At the end of this month individual voters will start screaming when they see next year’s premiums. The linked article quotes some “fix it” advocates. OK, “fix it” is an option — of sorts. However, the mess that is ObamaCare is a Democrat mess, so fixing it starts with Democrats “fixing” the bitter partisan divisions they created. Republicans offered legislative fixes when ObamaCare was proposed. Democrats and their media allies harshly ridiculed Republican proposals. Moreover, the ridicule became very personal. Over time, media denied that there were any Republican alternatives. So, if you’re in the “fix it” crowd, demand Democrats take responsibility for the following: (1) the flawed legislation; (2) the “Gruber experts” that lied about the flawed legislation — lied to Congress and the media; (3) the completely pig-headed Democrat political maneuvers that jammed the idiocy through Congress; and (4) the program’s flawed implementation (which continues). Democrats should also apologize, profusely, for the vicious propaganda attacks they and their proxies made on critics of ObamaCare. Turns out the critics cared more about quality medical insurance for the American people than Obama and Congressional Democrats.

HILLARY’S DISGRACEFUL 3-HEADED CRIME

COLOMBIANS REJECT PEACE DEAL: Polls projected a narrow victory for the peace agreement. The result was a narrow defeat. Former president Alvaro Uribe was against it. He argued rebel leaders would be treated too leniently.

ROTTEN FBI INVESTIGATION: Glenn just linked to Andrew McCarthy’s NRO dissection of FBI Director Jim Comey’s flimflam investigation of Hillary’s criminal (grossly negligent) mishandling of classified information. McCarthy’s superb analysis deserves another link and quote. Like McCarthy, I too was once “hard-wired to presume the FBI’s integrity.” Note the past tense — “was once.” But not after this travesty. McCarthy is tough on Comey. Good. However, McCarthy’s language is much too diplomatic. Bad. The FBI participated in an obstruction of justice operation. McCarthy says so, albeit it with what strikes me as unwarranted delicacy.

But you might call Cheryl Mills, who was right by your side at the State Department while you were doing those things that got you jammed up, if your goal was to envelop those things in an obstructive fog of purported attorney-client privilege. The FBI was not required to treat a conspiracy to obstruct justice as if it were good-faith assistance of counsel. Nevertheless, co-conspirator Mills was laundered into lawyer Mills.

Comey’s investigation stank from the get-go. The FBI are the good guys but the good guys have gone crooked. Now Hillary’s blizzard of lies (William Safire’s term) have tarred the G-men. (Yeah, with Hillary a blizzard tars, stains and scars.) If Comey really wants to salvage the FBI’s reputation, he should either recommend indictment or resign — or better yet, do both.

WHILE SOCIAL JUSTICE WARRIORS WHINE: While the SJWs whine about so-called cultural appropriation, Islamist militants engage in cultural destruction. This short article recalls the Taliban’s destruction of the Bamiyan buddhas.

GRASS MUD HORSE: In honor of International Translation Day, the BBC published an article with eight of the world’s quirkiest phrases — nominated by professional translators. Now, check out the Chinese phrase “grass mud horse.” According to the BBC “…Invoking this mythical creature allows people in China to swear online without having their comments scratched by the censors.” If this assessment is accurate, “grass mud horse” has global utility.

LA TIMES HAS TRUMP OVER HILLARY BY FIVE+ POINTS: It’s just one poll (hat tip Drudge), but October starts tomorrow. A lot of people (include me in this group) think Trump’s “presidential appearance” at this event (a month ago) changed voter perceptions.

THE CLINTON DEFENSE IS REALLY A CROOKED INVESTIGATION: The House is considering legislation making the laws governing the mishandling of classified information more explicitly stringent. Rep. John Ratcliffe (R-Texas) said military personnel accused of violating the Federal Records Act and the Espionage Act are trying to use “the Clinton defense” to escape prosecution. Basically the Clinton Defense is “I didn’t intend to mishandle classified information.” What it really is: a crooked investigation where the fix is in. FBI Director Jim Comey said he could not recommend Hillary be prosecuted for mishandling classified information because he couldn’t show “intent.” Comey’s excuse is utterly specious. He acknowledged Hillary’s mishandling of classified information was grossly negligent –and grossly negligent mishandling of classified information is already a crime. We can’t let Comey put a criminal in the White House.
