Just a few years ago, leftists were telling us we should punch Nazis. Now they’re slapping swastikas up everywhere and calling for Jews to be killed. Color me unsurprised.

Also, as far as I know, despite “investigation” of the Milo riots, I don’t believe anyone has actually been prosecuted for the violence there. “A College Republicans spokeswoman also said that members had been ‘pepper sprayed, sucker-punched and verbally and physically assaulted for voicing their opinions and beliefs’ on campus. And in March, members caught another student destroying one of the College Republicans’ signs, posting video of the vandalism to their Facebook page.”

BERKELEY HATEWATCH UPDATE: UC Berkeley Extremists Dox Student MILO Event Hosts, Post Personal Details & Workplace Address.

A group of left-wing extremists at UC Berkeley have doxed the student hosts behind MILO’s upcoming event on campus, posting personal details, photographs, email addresses, social media accounts, and even one of the student’s workplace addresses.

In their post entitled “The Kids Are Alt-Right: The UC Berkeley Students Behind the Milo Event,” the far-left website and group known as “It’s Going Down” posted the personal details of five student organizers in an attempt to intimidate and harass those behind MILO’s upcoming event on February 1st.

IGD listed the organizers’ names and pictures, supposedly taken after stalking the students’ private social media accounts, and attempted to link many of the students to white supremacy and racism purely based on their pro-Donald Trump and Republican stances.

The group even referred to one of the students as a “snitch” due to the fact that he had reported a violent incident to the police, after he was assaulted by anti-Trump protesters and had his property destroyed.

This seems more like organized crime than political activism.

Jewish students coming out of worship services have been pelted with eggs and subjected to epithets, Oleon said. Last week someone threw a cinder block through the front windows and wrote “F– Jews” in black marker on the Jewish Hillel cultural center’s recycling bins. Some Jewish students believe that Berkeley professors, even those who are Jewish, have unfairly come down hard on Israel in lectures.

Some things haven’t changed much.

BERKELEY HATEWATCH UPDATE: According to this report, the District Attorney is planning to drop charges against the pro-Palestinian rioters who occupied Wheeler Hall, though they will have to pay court costs and may still face disciplinary action from the University.

That’s not terribly unusual in the aftermath of disturbances where no one is seriously injured, but it’s troubling. Would they have done this if the identical behavior had been perpetrated by, say, Klan sympathizers? I doubt it.

BAY AREA HATEWATCH UPDATE: I had missed this John Podhoretz column, but it’s not a pretty story:

Since the start of the year, there have been 50 documented cases of anti-Semitic acts in and around the Bay Area. That is more than three times as many as in all of 2001, according to Jonathan Bernstein of the Anti-Defamation League. He also reports that his office is the only one of the ADL’s 30 regional bureaus to note an increase in anti-Jewish incidents.

There have been serious arson attempts on two synagogues. One temple, in Berkeley, would have been destroyed had a neighbor not spotted the fire on the roof. Another, in San Francisco, was pelted with Molotov cocktails.

It’s worse at the universities. A man wearing a Jewish ritual skullcap was severely beaten on the campus of the University of California at Berkeley. Students and faculty attending religious services at the Berkeley Hillel, the Jewish meeting house, were pelted with rotten eggs. The Hillel house itself has been defaced with graffiti.

The worst incident happened last week at San Francisco State University, where there is clearly no division between anti-Israel political sentiment and naked anti-Semitism.

There’s more on SFSU, as you’d expect, but I didn’t know about the beating, or the molotov cocktails.

One day, I hope, the Bay Area will become as cosmopolitan and tolerant as Knoxville.
