TOO IMMATURE FOR COLLEGE: Students paint over pro-life message, threaten to ‘pee on the floor’ at U. Mary Washington event.

I’m on the leadership team of Students for Life of America’s University of Mary Washington chapter. Throughout the weeks leading up to that event, our flyers advertising it were frequently taken down by other students.

In light of that, we focused on a longer lasting way of getting our message out: The Spirit Rock, a boulder on a high-traffic route on campus that clubs recognized by UMW’s Office of Student Engagement and Activities can paint to advertise their upcoming events.

UMW Students for Life initially painted the Spirit Rock on Saturday. However, the rock was painted over with non-latex paint that night by a group of people. The use of non-latex paint on the Spirit Rock is against school policy.

UMW Students for Life repainted the rock the next day. Within hours, however, our chapter president debated a group of students who decided it needed to be spray-painted a second time.

A clip of that debate was posted on Davis’s Instagram, which received over 4,600 likes at the time of this writing.

In the video, one of the spray-painters said, “If someone I care about wants to get an abortion, I will stick a coat hanger up them if they want me to.”

That’s the first protest I’m aware of in favor of coat-hanger abortions.
