INSURRECTION, STRAIGHT UP: Oregon senator claims Kristi Noem’s visit to Portland is to ‘incite violence.’

Senator Rod Wyden of Oregon has claimed that the Department of Homeland Security went to Portland “to incite violence.” Noem has been paying close attention to conditions in Portland where Antifa agitators and militants have been aggressive in their attempt to disrupt federal law enforcement.

“Kristi Noem is cosplaying as a public official. In reality, she’s been sent by Trump to incite violence,” Wyden said. “Don’t tar and feather her as Speaker Johnson suggested for Governor Newsom. The best response to her playacting as cop? Ignore her and keep supporting our community.”

Noem was traveling to Portland to tour the ICE facilty. The area around the facility has been under siege since June when Antifa militants began protesting outside, getting in the way of law enforcement vehicles and personnel.

If a federal official can’t visit a federal facility without “inciting” violence, the problem isn’t with the federal official.

THE CHICAGO WAY: Hey, Pritzker — Do You Support THIS? “While Pritzker was busy diagnosing Trump’s mental state, Pritzker’s ‘resistance’ was busy stalking ICE agents.”

WELL, IT FITS: Politico: Trump Plans to Invoke the Insurrection Act If Portland Resists Nat’l Guard.

Text: “Whenever the President considers that unlawful obstructions, combinations, or assemblages, or rebellion against the authority of the United States, make it impracticable to enforce the laws of the United States in any State by the ordinary course of judicial proceedings, he may call into Federal service such of the militia of any State, and use such of the armed forces, as he considers necessary to enforce those laws or to suppress the rebellion.”

Since this is a matter of presidential discretion — “whenever the President considers” — there’s no room here for judicial review, which makes sense because it’s a nonjusticiable political question.

HMM:

Nahh, there’s money involved, she’ll just brazen it out.

WELL, GOOD: Would-be Kavanaugh killer will NOT serve his time in women’s prison. “Attorney General Pam Bondi answered questions before the Senate on Tuesday and said forcefully that the man who attempted to murder Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh at his home in 2022 will not be serving his 8-year term in a women’s prison. The judge who handed down the light sentence said in her ruling that the would-be assassin’s transgender identity informed her decision to only give him an 8-year term.”

It’s a shame about the sentence, but at least he won’t be able to victimize inmates at a women’s prison.

MARK JUDGE: The Laughable Hypocrisy of Joyce Vance. “If you’re a leftist, like Vance, the only way to fight against Trump and MAGA in the current political climate is to use cliches and appeal to abstractions. You can’t credibly argue that illegal immigration is not a problem, you can’t really argue that James Comey was a clean FBI leader, and you certainly can’t argue that Antifa is a peaceful group or that academia is not left-wing. So other tactics are required.”

BRAVE SIR ROBIN: Everytown Just Ghosted Jay Jones (But There’s a Catch), “Everytown for Gun Safety — or ‘Blue Enclaves and Billionaires Against Your 2nd Amendment Rights,’ if we had stronger truth-in-advertising laws — mysteriously pulled down its webpage endorsing embattled Democrat Virginia attorney general candidate Jay Jones, but I’m here to tell you that there’s less to Jones getting ghosted than meets the eye.”

DISPATCHES FROM THE BLUE ZONES: 13 arrested, four police officers injured in violent Boston Common protest: ‘Completely despicable.’

Thirteen people were arrested Tuesday night in connection with a pro-Palestinian protest that turned violent on the Boston Common and left four police officers injured, including some with broken bones, according to officials.

Protesters “turned on police” at approximately 6:50 p.m. when they began to move from the Common to the area of Tremont and Winter streets, Boston Police said.

“At that time, protesters turned on police, kicking a marked cruiser, assaulting officers, blocking traffic, and setting off devices causing red smoke in the air,” Boston Police spokesman Sgt. Det. John Boyle said in a Tuesday night statement.

Eight men and five women were placed under arrest. No one had been booked as of shortly before 9 p.m.

Four police officers were injured in connection with the incident. Two officers were taken to local hospitals for treatment. Police have preliminary reports of officers with broken bones, but all injuries are considered non-life-threatening, Boyle said.

“Another night of violence against police officers in Boston tonight,” said Larry Calderone, president of the Boston Police Patrolmen’s Association.

“Our officers were attacked, assaulted and sent to the hospital with injuries. Completely despicable and totally unacceptable. We were outnumbered and understaffed for the event,” he continued.

“We need to put more officers out on the street at these events and help protect ourselves from these ruthless attacks. It’s happening far too often lately with no repercussions,” Calderone told the Herald.

The protesters appeared to be tied to the pro-Palestinian movement. A flyer distributed ahead of the event urged protesters to “Flood Downtown for Palestine.” The demonstration occurred on the two-year anniversary of the Hamas terror attack on Israel that sparked war in the region.

FASTER? PLEASE! FCC launches ‘Space Month’ to fast-track satellite licensing and spectrum reforms.

Speaking at the ribbon-cutting ceremony for Apex’s new satellite manufacturing facility in El Segundo, California, Carr outlined two main proposals that the FCC is preparing to vote on:

The first would replace “our bespoke licensing process with a licensing assembly line,” which Carr said would presume straightforward satellite and Earth station applications are in the public interest and eligible for expedited approval.

The second proposal would revise siting rules for Earth stations in the upper microwave bands, known as UMFUS, to enable more intensive use of spectrum and simplify approvals for operators.

“We’ll replace a default-to-no at the agency with a default-to-yes framework,” Carr said.

Yes.

KRUISER’S MORNING BRIEFING: Party Time — Dems’ Narrative Stranglehold Has Vanished. “While President Trump was in political exile, the American propaganda media hacks were at their all-time worst as they worked feverishly to prevent his return to office. When he thwarted that plan, he assembled an administration who is as fearless as he is when dealing with the hostile press. That has been a gamechanger like none I’ve seen in political media.”

SCOTUS: Supreme Court seems skeptical of Colorado’s ban on conversion therapy.

During 90 minutes of oral arguments Tuesday, most of the court’s conservatives and at least one liberal, Justice Elena Kagan, seemed to view the case as primarily one about free speech rather than regulation of how health care professionals interact with their patients.

Several justices also wondered whether a ruling allowing Colorado to ban so-called conversion therapy would amount to a green light to conservative states to ban similar counseling that encourages young people to affirm feelings about their gender identity, even if it differs from the one they were assigned to at birth.

“It’s pretty important that we think about how this would apply to cases down the road. … Can a state pick a side?” Justice Amy Coney Barrett asked.

The case before the court was brought on behalf of Kaley Chiles, a licensed counselor and a practicing Christian who sometimes provides counseling informed by her faith. Chiles says she wants to provide talk therapy to minors who want to reduce feelings of same-sex attraction or feel more comfortable in their bodies. Chiles isn’t licensed to prescribe medication, conduct physical exams or perform surgery.

If that’s the standard, how many people talking to kids about permanently altering their bodies with surgery and hormones meet it?
