The intellectual honesty is refreshing, though of course the Democrats currently want Trump to be the 2024 nominee, and Bragg threatens to derail that.

NOW THIS ACTUALLY IS “STOCHASTIC TERRORISM:” Transgender Suspect With Communist Manifesto Arrested For Planning Shootings At Schools, Churches: Police. “Law enforcement officials in Colorado have arrested a transgender individual with a communist manifesto for allegedly planning mass shootings at schools and churches in the area. News of the arrest was made public on Thursday afternoon, but the arrest happened on March 31, just a few days after a transgender terrorist massacred six people, including three children, at a private Christian school in Nashville.”

Expect this to be soft-pedaled by the press they way the press soft-pedals everything that doesn’t advance the narrative.

IF YOU DON’T FOLLOW THE NEWS YOU ARE UNINFORMED. IF YOU DO FOLLOW THE NEWS YOU ARE MISINFORMED. The more you trust the media, the less accurate you are.

The other day I wrote about the correlation between political ideology and assumptions about how many unarmed Blacks are killed by police. In it I discussed a study done by the Skeptic Research Center that showed that people who identify as liberal are least likely to guess how many unarmed Black men are killed by police.

Not by a little, but by a lot. Almost none of the liberals guessed in the right range–the number is about 10 a year–and over half guessed that the number was between 1000 to 10,000.

And that’s just the beginning. Read the whole thing.

THE NEW SPACE RACE: China declares price war on SpaceX reusable rockets, with economy driving new aerospace programme.

With an aim of bringing the payload cost down to about US$150 dollars per kilogram, the Chinese space plane is likely to remain competitive as the space race moves to a new, more intense stage, according to Song’s team.

China conducted two test flights of the new transport system in the Gobi Desert, the researchers said.

In July 2021, a space plane blasted off vertically from a rocket launch pad, made a suborbital flight in space and touched down at a military airport.
The same hypersonic vessel was launched again in August last year and returned unscratched, proving the reusable design was feasible.

But the tested plane was smaller than the final version, which still needs years of development to enter commercial service, according to Song’s team.

It’s one thing to declare a price war, but it’s quite another to actually wage one with a launch vehicle that doesn’t exist yet.

HAHA, OF COURSE:

OPEN THREAD: Who can you trust?

MATT TAIBBI: Eat Me, MSNBC.

If it sounds like my beef with MSNBC is personal, by now it is. Take the Twitter Files. When first presented with the opportunity to do that story, my first reaction was to be extremely excited, as any reporter would be, including anyone at MSNBC. In the next second however I was terrified, because I care about my job, and knew there would be a million eyes on this thing and a long way down if I got anything wrong. If you’ve ever wondered why I look 100 years old at 53 it’s because I embrace this part of the process. Audiences have a right to demand reporters lie awake nights in panic, and every good one I’ve ever met does.

But people who used to be my friends at MSNBC embraced a different model, leading to one of the biggest train wrecks in the history of our business. Now they have the stones to point at me with this “What happened to you?” routine. It’s rare that the following words are justified on every level, but really, MSNBC: Fuck you.

C’mon Matt, tell us how you really feel.

REBEKAH JONES CLAIMS DESANTIS KIDNAPPED HER SON; UPDATE: video/warrant.

According to the Pensacola News Journal, her son was not “kidnapped” but rather Jones turned her son into the local sheriff’s office:

So what actually happened?

Well, it sounds like Rebekah’s son has some mental health problems, from which I hope he gets relief soon. He appears to suffer from depression and alienation, and he has been acting out.

More particularly he has been threatening to shoot up a school.

This is hardly “sharing memes.” It is a deadly serious threat.

The Pensacola News Journal seems to have the most complete story as of now, so I will rely on them. As you can see the real story seems a bit different from what Jones has been pushing on social media.

Unexpectedly! The Ultimate ‘Florida Woman?’ It’s Everybody Blog About Rebekah Jones Day.

BYRON YORK: The fallout from Tennessee’s mini-Jan. 6. “Imagine if, on Jan. 6, three members of the House had actually joined the protesters, bringing a bullhorn to commandeer the House floor, working in tandem with protesters in the House gallery. Their demand was that there would be no business as usual, no certifying of the 2020 election results until the House addressed ‘the crisis at hand.’ There would be consequences for that, most likely serious consequences.”

BLASPHEMY IS BACK AS A CRIME: San Francisco State Univ. Investigating Professor For Showing Image of Muhammad in Class.

Behrooz said he told the student that, as the professor, he is the one who decides what’s shown in class. The student then complained to Behrooz’s department chair, who broached the issue with the professor, according to Behrooz. He said he explained to his chair that the student’s view is not uniform among all Muslims. The type of drawing he shows in class can be bought at markets in Tehran near holy shrines. Many Shiite Muslims have such drawings on walls in their homes, said Behrooz, who was born in Tehran and has written books on Iran’s political history.

The student also apparently complained to “authorities higher up” at the university, according to Behrooz. The professor said the institution’s office of Equity Programs & Compliance informed him in March that it would investigate the incident and asked him to attend a Zoom meeting.

Even to investigate has a chilling effect. The student should be told to write an essay on freedom of religion in America.

HMM: Lifespans into the 140s predicted by centuries-old Gompertz law. “A recent paper in the journal PLOS ONE suggests that humans have yet to reach their maximum age and that there might not even be one. In the paper, ‘Mortality postponement and compression at older ages in human cohorts,’ David Mcarthy of the Terry College of Business, University of Georgia, and his former Ph.D. student, Po-Lin Wang, currently at Muma College of Business, University of Southern Florida, use mathematical modeling of longevity trends, without reference to any biological, social or medical science to extrapolate the future of human longevity.”

Interesting, but I’m not sure statistical extrapolation is valid here.

288 PERCENT INCREASE IN CHURCH ATTACKS: That’s the major finding of a new analysis by the Family Research Council (FRC). There have been 69 attacks on churches in the U.S. during the first three months of 2023, compared to 24 for the same period in 2022.

“If this rate continues, 2023 will have the highest number of incidents of the six years FRC has tracked,” the FRC report notes. The number of church attacks in 2023 already exceeds “the entirety of 2018, in which we identified only 50 incidents, or 2020, in which we identified 54.”
