IT’S COME TO THIS:

UPDATE: AP in January of 2017: Lin-Manuel Miranda to play ‘Hamilton’ for Oscar Lopez Rivera. “‘Hamilton’ creator Lin-Manuel Miranda says he will play Alexander Hamilton at a Chicago performance in honor of the commutation of Oscar Lopez Rivera’s sentence by President Obama. Lopez Rivera, who grew up in Chicago, was convicted of seditious conspiracy to overthrow the U.S. government in 1981 while leading the Puerto Rican independence group FALN. The group bombed buildings in the 1970s. With Obama’s action Tuesday, he is slated to be released May 17. The Chicago Tribune reports (http://trib.in/2jlrZtb) Miranda said he was ‘sobbing with gratitude’ for the reduction of Lopez Rivera’s 55-year sentence.”

According to the Politico in 2017, “from 1974, when the group announced itself with its first bombings, to 1983, when arrests finally destroyed its membership base, the FALN was the most organized, active, well-trained and deadly domestic terror group based in the United States. The FALN was responsible for over 130 bombings during this period, including the January 1975 explosion in Manhattan’s historic Fraunces Tavern, which killed four and wounded 63. In October of that year, it set off, all within the span of an hour, 10 bombs in three cities, causing nearly a million dollars in damage. In August 1977, the FALN set off a series of bombs in Manhattan, forcing 100,000 workers to evacuate their offices; one person was killed, and six were injured. In 1979, the group even threatened to blow up the Indian Point nuclear energy facility located north of New York City.”

QUESTION ASKED: Whatever Happened to Alleged Capitol Rioter John Sullivan? “You may recall that John Sullivan was one of the people who went into the Capitol and encouraged others to do so. He also filmed the killing of Ashli Babbitt by Capitol Police officer Michael Byrd. He sold that footage for at least $90,000. Babbitt was the only person who was killed that day as a direct result of actions taken during the riot. But Sullivan also had been an organizer of BLM protests and run a website called Insurgence USA that sold Antifa black bloc gear. He’d been previously arrested for his involvement in a violent BLM protest in Utah where a driver was shot after his car was surrounded. Someone else was accused of that shooting but according to a police affidavit, Sullivan allegedly organized the action, encouraged people to block the roadways, threatened to beat a woman, and kicked her car.”

HOW AGITPROP AND MEMETICS WORK IN REAL TIME: The DNC memo went out yesterday that “insurrection” was the only theme that tested well to the base and — unlike inflation, crime, COVID and economic conditions — could not be debunked by pure data.

The faithful posted meme after meme, and the Talking Heads repeated absurdities with no provable meaning, such as “worse than Pearl Harbor” and “like 9/11.”

Then the DNC fundraisers send out a message:

Note the highlighted phrases and how nicely they are clustered: they are not designed to point you to reason. They appeal only to your emotion. Nixon did it, Kennedy and LBJ did it, hell, even Hitler did it.

But the speed and reach of digital communications changes everything. Not enough time to stop and think about what you’re being told: Just “be one of us” and move on to the next shiny object. No accountability for statements of puffery. In this way, digital media, which has the potential of bringing knowledge to every person on the planet, is manipulated to make each and every one of us dumber than yesterday.

Someone ought to write a book about it…

GREAT MOMENTS IN TROLLING: Tim Kaine’s I-95 Traffic Ordeal His Own Damn Fault, Says Blackface Governor.

Sen. Tim Kaine (D., Va.) and other drivers who got stuck for nearly 30 hours in a snowstorm-related traffic jam outside Washington, D.C., have only themselves to blame, Gov. Ralph “Coonman” Northam (D., Va.) told reporters on Thursday.

Northam said he was “sick and tired” of being asked to explain “what went wrong” regarding the massive backup on I-95 between Richmond and the nation’s capital earlier this week. “Why don’t you start asking some of these individuals that were out on the highways …? Why did you feel it was so important to drive through such a snowstorm?” the outgoing governor huffed.

Kaine was one of those individuals who thought it would be a good idea to drive through the storm on his way to Capitol Hill. The senator and failed vice presidential candidate posted about the ordeal on his Twitter account. “I started my normal 2 hour drive to DC at 1pm yesterday. 19 hours later, I’m still not near the Capitol,” he wrote on Tuesday and included a photo of the highway gridlock. He would end up spending “27+ hours on the road” before arriving at his office.

JON CALDERA: Progressives sic wolves on rural Colorado.

Then there’s the wolf “re-introduction” passed by citizen’s initiative.

The term’s a fib to begin with. The wolves to be “re-introduced” aren’t the same breed as those wandering the Rockies centuries ago. But hey, salesmanship can’t be limited by the facts.

Just like Jurassic Park, a whole new breed will be released into Colorado, and just like Jurassic Park the experts say they have it all under control.

Progressives in Boulder and Denver voted to parachute killer animals into other people’s back yards. It was a wildly, but not surprisingly, intolerant act. It was a vote to injure people in a different tribe. People you don’t see. And frankly, people you look down upon as backwards rubes.

And besides, as any urban fan of HBO’s “Game of Thrones” will attest, giant wolves are loyal, majestic and magical beasts that only kill bad guys.

The state recently confirmed the first wolf kill in decades. A wolf pack took down and eviscerated a 500-pound purebred heifer near Walden.

Walden is in Jackson County. I’m guessing most of the people who voted for the wolf initiative don’t really know where Jackson is. There’s nothing inherently wrong with that except when you vote to have people’s animals viciously ripped apart, it’s proper to at least know where and how your victims live.
