AN EPIDEMIC OF CHILD ABUSE: Kids Full of Life, Adults Obsessed with Death. The insanity of masking children — by the numbers. In Florida and the other states without mask mandates, 99.999 percent of children did not die of Covid — the same rate as in California and the other states that forced masks on students.

THE GASLIGHTING WILL CONTINUE UNTIL MORALE IMPROVES: Biden Repeats False Attack on the Second Amendment That Even the Washington Post Debunked.

“[Banning assault weapons] doesn’t violate anybody’s Second Amendment rights,” he said. “There is no amendment that is absolute.”

Then Biden got into historical analysis that was… interesting.

“When the amendment was passed it didn’t say anybody can own a gun and any kind of weapon,” Biden claimed. “You couldn’t buy a cannon when this amendment was passed, so there’s no reason you should be able to buy certain assault weapons.”

This bizarre aside is more than a non sequitur. It’s actually false. As Washington Post fact-checker Glenn Kessler noted in September 2021:

* * * * * * * *

Individuals who were given these waivers and owned warships obviously also obtained cannons for use in battle. We have no idea where [Biden] conjured up this notion about a ban on cannon ownership in the early days of the Republic, but he needs to stop making this claim.”

Narrator voice: He (and his speechwriters) will not. They know it’s a lie — and don’t care.

COLLUSION: Cuomo News Network: Zucker, Gollust reportedly coached Andrew Cuomo on COVID briefings.

All along we thought that Andrew Cuomo’s infamous appearances on his brother’s show early in the pandemic were a case of Chris lobbying management to let him do it. Not so, according to the New York Post. Zucker didn’t need to be talked into it. In fact, he and his mistress, Allison Gollust — a former comms director for Cuomo — reportedly leaned on the governor themselves to do the interviews.

Which means, amazingly, that turning CNN into a de facto PR service for an awful politician who grievously mismanaged New York’s COVID response wasn’t exclusively the fault of the guy named “Cuomo” who worked there. The cronyism went straight to the top.

Imagine being Chris Cuomo and getting fired for advising Andrew behind the scenes knowing that the guy who fired you and his Cuomo-alum girlfriend had done the same thing.

It’s a clown network run by creeps.

SAILING: Historic Bridge To Be Dismantled So Jeff Bezos’ Superyacht Can Pass Through.

The Koningshaven Bridge, nicknamed “De Hef” by locals, has been a landmark in Rotterdam since 1878. Originally a swing bridge, it was converted into a lifting bridge after several ships got stuck in the narrow passage, and a collision involving the German ship Kandelfels in 1918. Having been damaged in the bombing of Rotterdam, it was one of the first monuments to be restored in the city shortly afterward.

Now, it is to be dismantled to let the Amazon founder’s 127-meter (417-foot) long luxury sailing yacht – the Y721 – to reach the ocean. The yacht will be the largest vessel of its kind in the world, and will be unable to make it under De Hef when it is completed by the ship-making firm Oceanco. Despite promises that the bridge would not be dismantled again following renovations in 2014-2017, the middle section of the bridge will be temporarily removed to let the billionaire’s boat out.

Much more important is how progress on Blue Origin’s oft-delayed BE-4 rocket engine is coming along, but there hasn’t been any news on that since last month’s additional delays.

SCIENCE: Mechanism behind loss of smell with COVID-19 revealed. “Published online February 2 in the journalCell, the new study found that infection with the pandemic virus, SARS-CoV-2, indirectly dials down the action of olfactory receptors (OR), proteins on the surfaces of nerve cells in the nose that detect the molecules associated with odors.”

THAT’S WHAT CARTELS DO: Colorado school districts move to stifle education choice. “There are public school choice options in Colorado—open enrollment, magnet schools, and charter schools. But students who want access to these options are at the mercy of local school districts. Nearly every type of public school in Colorado must be authorized by a local school district. This results in a clear conflict of interest: If districts allow other options and families take advantage of those options, district schools will lose enrollment and a portion of per-student funding.”

THE RISE OF ‘TOTALITARIAN SCIENCE:’ John G. West of the Discovery Institute has been tracking this trend for more than a decade and as the Covid crisis plunges through a third year, he’s not encouraged:

“COVID has shown government officials how to do an end-run around the normal system of checks and balances. They simply need to invoke ‘science’ and declare an emergency — and then extend their emergency orders time and again. Anyone who dares challenge the emergency orders will be stigmatized as ‘anti-science,’ or they will be told they aren’t scientists so they have no right to be heard.

“Regardless of your view of specific anti-COVID policies, policymaking during the pandemic has set a terrible precedent for the future. The genie of unaccountable government power in the name of science has been let out of the bottle. Will we be able to put it back in?”

And there’s much more.

DON’T KNOW MUCH ABOUT HISTORY: Chuck Schumer Writes Thurgood Marshall Out of History During Black History Month. “Until 1981, this powerful body, the Supreme Court, was all White men. Imagine. America wasn’t all White men in 1981, or ever. Under President Biden and this Senate majority, we’re taking historic steps to make the courts look more like the country they serve.”

YOU CAN”T MAKE THIS STUFF UP: Amnesty International holds a press conference in Jerusalem, but hates Israel so much that it advertises “Beirut time.”

Two notable things about Beirut. First, it’s controlled by Hezbollah, a terrorist organization with no respect for human rights. Second, it’s the capital of Lebanon. For decades, where Palestinians are denied citizenship, and, per Wikipedia, “they are also legally barred from owning property or entering a list of desirable occupations. Employment requires a government-issued work permit, and, according to the New York Times, although ‘Lebanon hands out and renews hundreds of thousands of work permits every year to people from Africa, Asia and other Arab countries… until now, only a handful have been given’ to Palestinians.”

Not that Amnesty cares about this because it can’t bash Israel with that information, but you would think they would at least be sensitive to the optics of refusing to even acknowledge that its press conference is in Jerusalem and instead alluding to the capital of perhaps the most anti-Palestinian country in the Middle East.

PRIORITIES: Budget uncertainty ‘throttles’ MDA’s development of a hypersonic missile interceptor.

MDA in November selected three companies to design a Glide Phase Interceptor that would hit enemy hypersonic missiles during the glide phase, or the flat path they take while en route to their targets. MDA awarded Lockheed Martin, Northrop

Grumman and Raytheon Missiles and Defense other transactional agreements for an “accelerated concept design” phase of the program, Defense News reported at the time.

Asked about the path forward for the three companies developing their solutions, MDA Director Vice Adm. Jon Hill told Defense News on Wednesday he had little news.
“The best answer I can give you in this environment today: … We live in a world right now where we don’t have current year appropriations, and we also don’t have insight into the following year’s topline. So unfortunately, that throttles this program,” he said after speaking at an American Society of Naval Engineers conference.

Yes, but that congressional investigation into an insurrection that didn’t happen is proceeding on schedule.
