The reporter, clearly as woke as most journalists are today, hoped to press Morris on modern-day issues tied to comedy.
Think Dave Chappelle, accused of telling “transphobic” jokes on his new Netflix special, “The Closer.”
To be fair, Morris is the one who initially brings up “The Closer,” calling it “brilliant.” That triggered the THR scribe, who tells Morris the comedy special “upset” him for “going after” the trans community.
Morris’ answer should be taught in comedy textbooks.
Relax, everybody, this is comedy. Everybody can be the butt of a joke. And why should it be that if we joke about you, it’s sacrilege? You sit in the audience and laugh at jokes about everybody else. If we make a joke about trans [people] or gays, suddenly it’s sacrilege. And that’s what I got from that. I don’t see what’s wrong with that, with all due respect. I see it as nothing but a man saying publicly, “This is what I do.” And if you can’t understand that this is comedy coming at you, then don’t live in a society that’s multicultural.

Again, turn on any news show or read any newspaper, and I guarantee you’ll read an article about the dangers of disinformation and inflammatory rhetoric. These articles usually focus exclusively on Republican legislators, Fox News hosts, and obscure nobodies who post memes on message boards. The reports rarely, if ever, mention people such as Reid and bizarre tirades like the one in the above. Indeed, for whatever reason, the people who write for a living about the dangers of disinformation and misinformation are completely disinterested in correcting, or even tracking, Reid’s brand of crazy.
I can understand why NBC News’s resident 4chan experts have no interest in covering an out-of-control NBC employee. But what’s the rest of the news media’s excuse?

Those were the thoughts that flew through my head like the swallows to Capistrano the minute I read the Oct. 28 report in the Wall Street Journal under the headline “U.S. in Talks to Pay Hundreds of Millions to Families Separated at Border.” Needless to say, it is currently their most read article.
“WASHINGTON—The Biden administration is in talks to offer immigrant families that were separated during the Trump administration around $450,000 a person in compensation, according to people familiar with the matter, as several agencies work to resolve lawsuits filed on behalf of parents and children who say the government subjected them to lasting psychological trauma.
“The U.S. Departments of Justice, Homeland Security, and Health and Human Services are considering payments that could amount to close to $1 million a family, though the final numbers could shift, the people familiar with the matter said.”
$450,000 a person? This when millions of actual taxpaying American citizens are suffering, barely able to make ends meet during the pandemic, and inflation is on a record pace. Not even Anthony Fauci, allegedly the highest paid government official, makes that much, at least in salary.
Psychological trauma? How about causing psychological trauma to a whole country at once? Never in my life have I heard anything so insane.
And I thought nothing could top the Afghanistan debacle.

Hinckley was enthusiastic about his role in the song at the time it was released. One month after the Oh, No! It’s DEVO album came out, Hinckley wrote a letter to Dallas radio station KZEW’s “morning zoo” show to request that “I Desire” be played “58 times each day,” according to Dangerous Minds.
A Change.Org petition demanding that “DEVO pay John Hinckley royalties NOW” was launched shortly after Hinckley’s tweet. Only 10 people had signed the petition as of Tuesday afternoon.
Well, that’s a small sign of sanity at least.
