STRANGE MANIFESTATIONS OF SOCIAL JUSTICE: My county public library poobahs claim to care a lot about social justice.
Quiz for Instapundit readers: That has manifested itself in:
(1) Doing everything possible to open up the libraries, especially in poorer neighborhoods, and finding creative ways to bring books to poor kids whose schools have been closed, such as bookmobiles;
or
(2) Sending out an email with deep thoughts about Dr. Seuss and the need for the library and parents to ensure kids are reading diverse books.

I suspect you will not be surprised to learn that the answer is (2) (and our libraries remain almost entirely closed).

EVERYTHING IS GOING SWIMMINGLY: ENTIRE STAFF OF NEVADA DEMOCRATIC PARTY QUITS AFTER DEMOCRATIC SOCIALIST SLATE WON EVERY SEAT. “On March 6, a coalition of progressive candidates backed by the local chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America took over the leadership of the Nevada Democratic Party, sweeping all five party leadership positions in a contested election that evening. Whitmer, who had been chair of the Clark County Democratic Party, was elected chair. The incumbents had prepared for the loss, having recently moved $450,000 out of the party’s coffers and into the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee’s account. The DSCC will put the money toward the 2022 reelection bid of Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto, a vulnerable first-term Democrat.”

OPEN THREAD: Monday, Monday.

MAYBE IT’S THE TORTOISE AND THE HARE, BUT IT SEEMS TO BE LAGGING: Will Jeff Bezos kick-start Blue Origin? Does he need to? “More than 20 years after Bezos quietly founded the company, it has yet to send a human into space or place a payload into orbit. SpaceX, by contrast, has launched more than 250 satellites, announced plans for private missions of its Crew Dragon spacecraft and launched (and crashed) a prototype of a next-generation vehicle — all since the first of the year. . . . Blue Origin’s motto is ‘Gradatim Ferociter,’ or ‘step by step, ferociously.’ The company has lived up to the first word of that motto, moving deliberately, but gradually. We’ll soon see if Bezos adds some ferociter to his company.”

JIM TREACHER: God Bless America, and God Bless Meghan Markle.

Meghan Markle is an American hero and I’m tired of pretending she isn’t. Not only will I vote for her when she inevitably runs for president, but I’ll petition to have her face added to Mount Rushmore. She might not be the first woman of color to become POTUS (sorry, Joe, hang in there as long as you can), but she’s the first woman of color to strike at the very heart of America’s first and greatest foe.

If you doubt me, consider the most important metric in 2021: Twitter trends. #AbolishTheMonarchy is trending! The seed has been planted. Our job now, my fellow Americans, is to nurture that seed and watch it grow and flourish.

And the best part is, the Brits have to just sit there and take it. Meghan’s got Harry by the short and curlies, and she’s not letting go. Sure, Piers Morgan will go on a tweetstorm, their little country’s talking heads will jabber about her on “breakfast telly” or whatever, but they can’t do squat about it. Markle will keep on playing them like a fiddle. And as a red-blooded American, I couldn’t be more proud.

Sorry not sorry, Britain. America doesn’t need a queen, because Meghan is our KWEEN.

Put that in your tea and gulp it!

Her Déjà Di and Déjà Duchess of Windsor fashion sense may be the real tell:

WHY IS THE LEFT SUCH A CESSPIT OF RACISM? New editor-in-chief of Teen Vogue accused of anti-Asian racism after old tweets resurface.

Following the Friday announcement from Condé Nast that tapped McCammond to lead the publication, former New York Magazine editor Diana Tsui posted Sunday on Instagram Stories: “You cannot have an editor-in-chief with a history of racist tweets. Especially right now when we’re finally understanding that anti-racism can and should include Asian-Americans.” Tsui then moved to her main feed.

New York magazine’s crosstown rivals at the New York Times never got that memo about their contributors:

In Racist Screed, NYT’s 1619 Project Founder Calls ‘White Race’ ‘Barbaric Devils,’ ‘Bloodsuckers,’ Columbus ‘No Different Than Hitler.’ “This isn’t the first time the New York Times has hired and kept a writer with a history of racism and radical views. In 2018, the NYT hired Sarah Jeong despite a long string of racist tweets that littered her Twitter calling white people ‘goblins,’ likening their smell to dogs, and asking to ‘#cancelallwhitepeople’.”

New York Times Fact Checker Gina Cherelus Used Racist, Homophobic Slurs on Twitter.

NYT Sr. Staff Editor Thomas Wright-Piersanti deletes anti-Semitic and racist tweets after being outed (we got ’em!).

THE NEW YORK TIMES IS HAVING AN EMBARRASSING MELTDOWN OVER JOSH HAWLEY’S EXISTENCE:

Just before the third chapter of “How I Became A Famous Novelist,” Steve Hely’s 2009 satirical novel lampooning the publishing industry, he includes a fake New York Times Best Seller list. The No. 4 Nonfiction slot goes to “Needs Improvement In All Areas,” an attack on President George W. Bush, written by his former kindergarten teacher.

That happened for real today when The New York Times broke the news that an administrator from Sen. Josh Hawley’s middle school disapproved of his politics.

Barbara Weibling is quoted condemning her former middle school charge. Left unsaid by The New York Times is that Barbara Weibling is a left-wing activist. She is a small but committed donor to Democrats, and a perusal of her Facebook page shows she’s not exactly an unbiased educator. Her avatar is a flattering portraiture of Vice President Kamala Harris in the foreground, with President Joe Biden in the background.

She posts about her strong dislike of Fox News (where this reporter is a contributor) and love of Russia collusion conspiracy theorist Rachel Maddow of MSNBC. She posts outlandish left-wing claims from a group called “Occupy Democrats.” In between the supportive posts of socialism, Bernie Sanders, and Biden are attacks on Republicans going back to Reagan, at least. Is it really news that her dislike of Republicans extends to a former student at her school?

As silly as the whole thing is, the Times’ Elaina Plott and Danny Hakim debased themselves further by — and I’m in no way joking here — asking Hawley’s high school prom date for her thoughts. His prom date. HIS PROM DATE.

Shades of the media’s coordinated attack on Mitt Romney’s high school days in 2012 or life inside Brett Kavanaugh’s frat house six years later. Meanwhile, Democrats are free to construct mythical or highly embellished characters from the past like Cory Booker’s friend T-Bone and Biden’s buddy, Corn Pop. As Dominic Green wrote in 2019, “The Kavanaugh and Corn Pop stories must at all times be considered separately, for two reasons. First, if taken together, these stories show the extent to which pro-Democratic media, even the upmarket kind which advertises its fact-checking, will go in order to slander its enemies and support its team — and that the obvious cognitive decline of the Democratic frontrunner might not be as alarming as the obvious ethical decline in the press, because a party can find a better candidate, but the Times, it isn’t a-changin’. Second, there’s the risk that the two stories will merge into a single image in which Joe Biden’s friends push his penis into Corn Pop’s hand in order to prove his tolerance, while Brett Kavanaugh the Porn Cop stands pink and proud for family values. This composite is the true image of American politics today, so is best not considered at all, let along pushed into anyone’s face as part of a presidential nomination strategy.”

Heh, indeed.™
