FIRE EXPOSES U. OF OKLAHOMA WORKSHOP TRAINING TEACHERS TO CENSOR AND INDOCTRINATE. OU has been a bad actor on these issues for a long time. From the video:

“If they’re writing and their goal is like ‘Oh, I should be able to use whatever pronouns I deem acceptable for this person despite how they identify,’ then they are invalidating that person’s humanity and their existence. And that’s not acceptable. So I flat out tell them that. This is what this is doing. You need to pick something else. You’re not doing that.”

This, in a class about argumentation. College does not have to be this way. It shouldn’t be this way.

BYRON YORK: Democrats’ Voter ID Debacle. “The headline is that 80 percent of those surveyed — a huge majority — favored photo ID. Just 18 percent said they opposed. That left just two percent who didn’t know, which means that voter ID is an issue about which most Americans have a considered opinion.”

But wait, it gets worse: “Looking at the results along racial lines, 77 percent of white voters supported photo ID — and 84 percent of non-white voters supported it, too. Along educational lines, 69 percent of Americans with a four-year college degree favored ID, and 85 percent of those with no degree favored it. . . . Bottom line: Americans support voter ID. They just do. And now, with Manchin’s voter ID proposal and the Monmouth poll, Stacey Abrams, the failed Democratic candidate for governor Georgia who has become the party’s voting-rights heroine, has flip-flopped on the issue and now says she not only supports voter ID but that she has never opposed it.”

To be fair, she lies a lot.

OPEN THREAD: It’s that time again.

LIFETIME GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEE SELLING HOME: Dianne Feinstein’s $41M Tahoe Compound Up for Sale. “The waterfront compound briefly tested the market in October 2020 with a $46 million asking price. Now, the property is back at a slightly lower, yet still prodigious price.”

SPACE LAW: House hearing rehashes longstanding commercial space transportation issues.

Hmm. This seems like Democrats trying to undermine SpaceX:

Despite the hearing’s title, “Starships and Stripes Forever – An Examination of the FAA’s Role in the Future of Spaceflight,” SpaceX was not among the witnesses. An industry source said that the company had not been invited to testify.

Not good. But some of it may just be turf war:

Larsen acknowledged at the hearing that space was outside of the jurisdiction of his committee, but that its effects on airspace made it relevant. “We do not believe that we have jurisdiction over space, but you have to travel through airspace to get to space, what I like to think of as ‘our space,’” he said. “This is why this hearing is so critically important.”

Still not good.

YES: Woke Ideology Mimics Precursors to Totalitarian Slaughter, Experts Say. “Some of the core tenets of the “woke” ideology spreading around the country mimic ideas used to justify many of the most horrendous atrocities of the past century, according to several experts.”

It’s stupid, but also evil and dangerous.

NEO: Five tenets of CRT and what they mean. “Those who are promoting CRT leave out all the costs, and are mum about the anti-white racism inherent in those costs. However, word has been getting out lately, and more people (not enough, but more) are starting to understand what CRT is actually about in practice.”

Faster, please.

JIM TREACHER: There’s a Reason He’s Not Named Sheldon Blackhouse.

Q: What do you call a Democrat who belongs to a whites-only club?
A: Traditional!

The Republican Party was founded to free the slaves who were being held by Democrats. Over 150 years later, at least one Dem isn’t quite ready to give up the old ways:

* * * * * * * *

“Work our way through the issues.” Well, all I hear from the Dem-controlled media day after day is that racism is the most important issue of our time.1 “Long tradition.” Yeah, slavery was a tradition too, and it took a civil war to make the Democrats give that up.

If Sheldon Whitehouse were a Republican, he’d be hounded everywhere he goes. Every single Republican in Washington would be expected to make a statement about him. His membership in a whites-only club would be held up as further evidence of the GOP’s supposed racism.

Don’t miss the Fight Club Photoshop featuring Whitehouse and Ralph Northam.

IRONY CAN BE AWFULLY IRONIC SOMETIMES: Longtime C-SPAN host Steve Scully leaving the network after three decades.

During the 2020 election, Scully was selected to moderate the second presidential debate but was temporarily suspended by C-SPAN after lying about getting hacked on Twitter. The second debate was ultimately canceled after Trump would not agree on a virtual format after contracting COVID-19.

After being labeled a “never Trumper” by Trump during the 2020 election, Scully wrote on Twitter: “@Scaramucci should I respond to Trump.” Scully initially said his account was hacked but later admitted he wrote the tweet, saying he had been frustrated by attacks directed at him and his family from right-wing media figures after it was announced he would moderate a presidential debate.

“These were both errors in judgment for which I am totally responsible for,” Scully said at the time. “I apologize.”

“We view October’s events as a singular episode in an otherwise successful 30-year C-SPAN career,” C-SPAN said in a statement to The Inquirer at the time.

Scully said he was leaving C-SPAN to join the Bipartisan Policy Center, a Washington think tank that aims to combine ideas from Democrats and Republicans.

“If ever there was a time where all sides need to reach across the aisle, it is now,” Scully said.

He’ll be right at home in a think tank led by a rogue’s gallery of what Michael Walsh has dubbed “the Permanent Bipartisan Fusion Party.”

(H/T: Media Myth Alert’s Joseph Campbell.)

YEAH, PRETTY MUCH:

GOOD, BECAUSE I WAS A SKINNY-ASS TEENAGER: Your BMI as a teen could affect your health into adulthood. “A high body mass index (BMI) during adolescence is a significant risk factor for Type 2 diabetes, early heart attack and overall poorer health for young adults, regardless of BMI in adulthood, according to a research letter published today in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology.”

This bodes poorly for today’s more corpulent youth, though.

LUXO-CHANGE: 2021 Mercedes-Benz S580 Resets the Flagship.

They’re going to have to work hard to stay ahead of the Koreans. But they’re trying: “On less exciting roads, we took advantage of the car’s semi-autonomous driving function. By letting the S-class deal with the exigencies of traffic, we were able to fully explore the differences between 10 massage experiences, the cloud-soft headrests, and the optional 30-speaker Burmester audio system’s 1750 watts, including the in-seat resonators that deliver the bass to your backside.”
