JIM TREACHER: It’s a Bad Day for Democrats, Which Makes It a Great Day for America.
At this point in the history of the 21st Century, I tend to err on the side of pessimism. I assumed Terry McAuliffe was going to win the Virginia gubernatorial race, because the state is controlled by Democrats and they’re corrupt and dishonest and stupid. I figured it would be nice if that Youngkin fellow pulled off an upset, but I wasn’t hopeful.
But as it turns out, it was a mistake to call parents “terrorists” for caring about what their kids are being taught in schools. Trying to tie a mild-mannered candidate like Glenn Youngkin to Donald Trump was a mistake. Planting fake Nazis at GOP rallies was a mistake. Pretty much everything the McAuliffe campaign did was a mistake. So it’s a pleasant surprise that those creeps were thwarted.
The resulting hysteria and misery of professional Democrats everywhere is a nice bonus. Last night I flipped around between CNN and MSNBC in the background (with the sound off, because I’m not that much of a masochist), and the dumb anchors’ body language kept getting more and more amusing. And even after it was obvious that Youngkin had won, the chyron still said “TOO CLOSE TO CALL.” Because the first stage of grief is denial.
And what have they learned? As usual: nothing.
QED: Civility Now! Cher compares the GOP to Nazi Germany in an all-caps, emoji-filled rant.
Curiously, the people seeking to (further) nationalize socialism are eager to compare the people who want to leave you alone to National Socialists.
THIS APPLIES TO A LOT OF THINGS: A good way to know you’re living through high inflation is when you’re discouraged from talking about it.
Gas is more expensive (up 42.7 percent). Cars and trucks, too (up 7.6 percent for new and 31.9 percent (!) for used). Your wallet is surely feeling the burn at the grocery store (up 3 percent). Meat, in particular, is getting really expensive (up 10.5 percent), to the sure delight of the anti-animal food crusaders out there. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ official measure of the Consumer Price Index (CPI), pretty much everything is more expensive across the board: 5.4 percent more expensive when compared to last year, according to government bean counters.
Watch how you talk about this seeming inflation online, though. And watch what you read, too.
We know we need to be on the lookout for wrecking misinformation when it comes to our health, our elections, and our political class’s networking equipment. Now we can add our economy to the mix. According to some experts, talking about rising prices could be extremely dangerous to our democracy.
When you realize that “our democracy” is a code phrase meaning “Democratic Party political control” it makes sense, though.

OUT ON A LIMB: People Are Using Marijuana to Treat Anxiety and Depression, but the Science Is Murky.
A new study by researchers in Australia involving 23 participants with chronic insomnia found that taking an oil with THC and CBD nightly for two weeks led to improved scores on a measure of insomnia. And an observational study published recently in the journal Frontiers in Psychiatry found that people who began using medicinal cannabis reported a reduction in symptoms of anxiety and depression. Those who didn’t begin using cannabis saw no change in their symptoms.
Some studies have found that cannabis use among people with anxiety and depression is linked to more severe symptoms. In 2019, the American Psychiatric Association issued a statement declaring that there is “no current scientific evidence that cannabis is in any way beneficial for the treatment of any psychiatric disorder” and noted a “strong association of cannabis use with the onset of psychiatric disorders.”
Psychiatrists also note the danger of developing cannabis use disorder, an addiction that can afflict more than 20% of regular cannabis users, says Smita Das, clinical associate professor of psychiatry at Stanford University School of Medicine and chair of the council on addiction psychiatry at the American Psychiatric Association.
“A lot of clients are under the impression that there is an evidence base for what they are doing,” says Dr. Yielding, about his patients who use cannabis for their anxiety. “There isn’t.”

GOP VOTERS CARE ABOUT CULTURE WAR BEING WAGED AGAINST THEM, WOULD ACTUALLY LIKE SOMEONE TO FIGHT IT. That could easily be the headline to this NYT piece, if someone other than the NYT had written it. The left knows this; it is practically 100% in on the culture war on every front, and it has brought them great success even while impoverishing average Americans. It is not just the economy, stupid, and everyone knows this except the GOP establishment, which only pretends not to.
‘MSNBC IS CURRENTLY GOING THROUGH THE 7 STAGES OF GRIEF ON AN ENDLESS LOOP IN REAL TIME:’ Twitter roasts MSNBC for Election Night meltdown.
“If you want to give yourself a treat, turn on MSNBC,” Ann Coulter tweeted as results began to favor Republicans in key races.
National Review critic Kyle Smith declared, “Every conservative I know is watching MSNBC.”
Pundit Stephen L. Miller joked, “It’s early yet but MSNBC is pulling a bit ahead in the election meltdown. Still waiting for returns from some of CNN’s more loyal viewers and the late night returns but Joy Reid looks to be pulling away early. Still too close to call though.”
Meghan McCain added, “MSNBC is on nothing short of an emotional journey to Narnia tonight.”
While conservatives don’t typically watch the liberal network, MSNBC brass will presumably take the additional viewers. MSNBC finished October with its lowest-rated month among the advertiser-coveted demographic of adults age 25-54 since October 2015. It was also MSNBC’s worst month among the demo during the primetime hours of 8-11 p.m. since December 2015.
Even parent network NBC is having second thoughts: After Lying About CRT, NBC Admits Dems Shouldn’t Have Dismissed It.
After NBC and the rest of the leftist media blatantly lied about Critical Race Theory “not being taught” in Virginia schools ahead of Tuesday’s gubernatorial race, on Wednesday’s Today show, White House correspondent Kristen Welker hypocritically admitted that failed Democratic candidate Terry McAuliffe probably shouldn’t have dismissed the issue.
Referring to the topic of education, co-host Savannah Guthrie observed: “We just saw how that was a key issue in the Virginia’s governor’s race and it did not go well for the Democrats.” Welker acknowledged: “It didn’t. And taking it a step further, Savannah, it seems like the Democrats lost the culture wars in this election cycle, right?”
Prior to the election, Kamala Harris warned Virginia Dems: What happens in this election may determine what happens in 2022 and 2024. “So if Youngkin pulls it off, expect to see these words from Biden’s VP in a thousand different Republican ads and other messages over the next 12 months. As goes Virginia, so goes the nation.”

VODKAPUNDIT: Midterm Election Disaster: Will the Democrats Ever Learn?
The Republican didn’t quite sweep the board in Tuesday night’s mid-midterm election, but they very nearly did.
It must be quite a thing for Democrats who were so giddy after having claimed the White House, Senate, and House late last year and January of this year.
But then they got to the part where they actually had to govern, to deliver on promises made. So here they are, just ten months later, as flatly rejected by voters as a poor, homely man hitting on a Victoria’s Secret angel.
Shrieking “ORANGE MAN BAD!” is easy. So is shutting down the country’s economy just to ruin a sitting president. Governing is hard, owning up to the bad results of your governance is harder still. Democrats did neither this election season and paid the price last night.
