DONALD TRUMP: “Republicans in the House and Senate should not approve the Democrat trap of the January 6 Commission. It is just more partisan unfairness and unless the murders, riots, and fire bombings in Portland, Minneapolis, Seattle, Chicago, and New York are also going to be studied, this discussion should be ended immediately. Republicans must get much tougher and much smarter, and stop being used by the Radical Left.”

NO ENEMIES TO THE LEFT: The Hitler and Stalin Loving Socialist Whose Statue No One Will Touch.

“I was a National Socialist before Mr Hitler was born. I hope we shall emulate his great achievements in that direction,” the famous socialist writer whose statue smilingly stands in a fountain in Niagara-on-the-Lake behind the Shaw Cafe & Wine Bar wrote.

The statue is part of the local shtick which includes the Shaw literary festival.

The festival may perform Shaw’s On the Rocks, but it doesn’t include his preface to the play, where he argued that, “extermination must be put on a scientific basis if it is ever to be carried out humanely and apologetically as well as thoroughly” and holds up the Soviet Union as an ideal example where the “essential questions: ‘are you pulling your weight in the social boat? are you giving more trouble than you are worth?’” were answered by the Cheka who would “‘liquidate’ persons who could not answer them satisfactorily” to meet the “urgency of how to dispose of people who would not or could not fit themselves into the new order of things.”

While Niagara-on-the-Lake may have a statue of Shaw, the famous socialist writer kept a portrait of Felix Dzerzhinsky, the founder of the Cheka, the Soviet secret police, on his wall.

The statue of George Bernard Shaw, one of many, including outside the National Gallery of Ireland (sculpted by Paolo Troubetzkoy, who fled the Communists and was harassed to death by the Nazis: two regimes that Shaw enthusiastically supported), has rarely been questioned.

Those oh-so-respected Fabian socialists had every bit as much murder in their hearts as Dzerzhinsky, Lenin, Stalin, or Hitler.

POLITICIZED LAWFARE. So yesterday I noted that Democratic Georgia and New York prosecutors are planning to go after Trump with subpoenas and indictments.

But a Georgia attorney friend responds to this article:

“And in Georgia, Banzhaf said that Willis ‘is a Democrat in a heavily Democratic county. Therefore, most members of a grand jury, and of any criminal trial juries in this county, are likely to be very unfriendly to Trump, especially now that he has lost a lot of his clout and his ability to reach out easily on social media with most of his followers.’”

Here is what they’re overlooking:

DA’s don’t get to strike Grand Jurors. Grand Jurors are randomly selected. In 2020, Fulton County voted 26% for Trump. That means on a Grand Jury of 23 Fulton County grand jurors there would be about 6 Trump supporters.

So in normal times, Fani would have to present her “evidence” against Trump to (on average) at least 6 Trump supporters, who may ask questions, resist, push back, “punch back twice as hard”, call to subpoena additional witnesses, or take their complaints to social media.

But now, thanks to House Bill 635 signed into law by Governor Kemp, Fani has a 12-month window in which she can indict people without the pesky oversight of a Grand Jury.

“Rule of Law,” y’all. And note the (non-accidental) role of social media bans in making it harder for Trump to defend himself.

CORI CAUGHT CORONAVIRUS, WAS HEALED ON THE TELEPHONE: Yes, you read that right, though you might not realize that “Cori” is Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO), Kingdom Embassy International Churches St. Louis chapter. Alana Goodman of the Washington Free Beacon spotlights the faith healer in the House.

TWITTER’S HOLOCAUST PROBLEM:

Is the delete function really the deciding factor in whether repeated calls to violence are considered acceptable or unacceptable by the tech giant? If this is the case, then what are we to make of Raja, whose pro-Holocaust tweets from 2014 were live until this weekend, or the Ayatollah, who hasn’t deleted any of his tweets calling for the destruction of Israel and its people?

Moreover, does Twitter really consider the actress who approvingly “quotes” Hitler less harmful than the president who announces he won’t attend an inauguration? And all because the actress eventually deleted her love note to Hitler?

This can’t be the deciding factor because, again, Twitter has taken no action against the Ayatollah.

Where does Twitter draw the line?

Even with all the possible caveats in place (Trump is more powerful, he has a larger platform, Malik and Raja eventually deleted their tweets, etc.), the broader question remains: If Twitter considers Trump’s post-election behavior grounds to ban him for life, then how does it explain the continued activity of verified users who frequently cheer genocide and Hitler? The Ayatollah, Malik, and Raja have repeatedly called for a second Holocaust, which is many times worse than anything Trump ever tweeted.

Yet, Trump is the one who has been permanently banned from Twitter.

CHINA:

TRUNALIMUNUMAPRZURE! Cowardly Journalists Chuckle as Biden Jokes About Murdering Them:

Imagine if Donald Trump had jokingly threatened to murder journalists standing in front of him. They probably wouldn’t have laughed. Yet that’s what Joe Biden did on Tuesday and the assembled reporters just chuckled at the funny threat. While test driving an electric Ford F-150, ABC’s Cecilia Vega broke up the adoring queries about the car by actually asking, “Mr. President, can I ask you a quick question about Israel before you drive away since it’s so important?”

Biden, who was sitting in a truck at the time, sneered, “No, you can’t. Not unless you get in front of the car as I step on it. I’m only teasing.” The off-camera journalists awkwardly snickered in reply. Biden then drove off, having threatened the press and then not answered the serious question.

Just think of the media as Democratic Party operatives with bylines, and their absence of rancor makes perfect sense.

MASK MANDATES AS A FORM OF COMPELLED SPEECH:

To wear a mask in public is to affirm a viewpoint no less powerful than the Pledge of Allegiance: that Covid poses a crisis so dire as to demand unprecedented government control of our lives and a transformation of the norms of interpersonal behavior. Ubiquitous mask mandates make assent impossible to avoid except by breaking the law or staying home….

Yes, that’s where we are now.

SHOCKING FINDING: Conservative Viewers Are Better Informed About Important Topics. “A new Heartland Institute and Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that only 16% of Likely U.S. Voters who say CNN is their favorite cable news outlet and 20% of those who say MSNBC is their favorite correctly estimated the U.S. national debt (currently more than $28 trillion) as being between $20 trillion and $30 trillion. By contrast, 35% of Fox News viewers, and 32% who say they get their news from talk radio, correctly estimated the size of the U.S. national debt.”

Related: Liberal Media Viewers Are Misinformed About Crime in America. “Fewer than 50 unarmed black suspects were killed by police last year and more people were killed with knives than with so-called ‘assault weapons,’ but viewers of MSNBC and CNN are far more likely than Fox News viewers to get those facts wrong.”

IS BIDEN ON PUTIN’S PAYROLL? Biden to waive sanctions on Putin crony leading Nord Stream 2 pipeline.

And just like that, Biden* discovers an energy pipeline he supports.

Flashback: So is it fair to ask if Biden is on the payroll of Putin? As Walter Russell Mead wrote in 2017:

If Trump were the Manchurian candidate that people keep wanting to believe that he is, here are some of the things he’d be doing:

Limiting fracking as much as he possibly could
Blocking oil and gas pipelines
Opening negotiations for major nuclear arms reductions
Cutting U.S. military spending
Trying to tamp down tensions with Russia’s ally Iran.

“Yep,” Glenn added in late 2019. “You know who did do these things? Obama. You know who supports these things now? Democrats.”

* Yes, I know I spelled President Ron Klain incorrectly.
