FIRST RULE OF JOURNALISM: IF YOU WON’T WANT PEOPLE TO THINK OF YOU AS GARBAGE, DON’T BE GARBAGE. Ron DeSantis and ‘Resistance Journalism:’ Florida’s governor and the new rules of media sourcing.
It’s hard to find silver linings in this era of expanding government authority and contracting individual opportunity for free expression. But at least the media establishment can no longer pretend that its abandonment of journalistic standards was necessitated by the unique character of Donald Trump. “Resistance journalism” is now industry standard, judging by a story on Florida’s Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis by the formerly prestigious television newsmagazine “60 Minutes.”
Resistance journalism is the term coined by media maven Ben Smith, who was also one of the genre’s most successful practitioners. The idea was to create compelling anti-Trump narratives unbound by the traditional obligations of fact-checking.
The Trump administration began with news organizations flogging false collusion claims from anonymous sources. It ended recently with news organizations flogging a false story from a single anonymous source who did not even witness the relevant event—and was then protected until she granted her permission to acknowledge she was the source of the bogus report.
Now we have a traditional pillar of U.S. broadcast journalism applying the model to the next Republican in line for national attention. But “60 Minutes” seems to have taken the spirit of resistance journalism one step beyond simply advancing the hidden agendas of people unwilling to go on the record. Sunday night’s attack on Gov. DeSantis didn’t even include key facts presented by witnesses who have been speaking on the record. . . .
The term resistance journalism is starting to seem a little dated. Perhaps it’s better to just call it propaganda.
Or garbage, whatever.
OPEN THREAD: Did anything happen today?
IT’S ONLY A HATE CRIME WHEN IT ADVANCES THE NARRATIVE.
The New York Times has embraced the sudden interest in inner-city attacks on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, in part because it can pretend the cause is Donald Trunmp.
He said Wuhan Flu!
But when police arrested and charged Donovan Lawson for attacking Lau, the New York Times changed its tune.
It isn’t a hate crime because Lawson is mentally ill.
And black.
Same as with murdered Uber Eats driver Mohammed Anwar. His killers were of the wrong race for outrage.

SCIENCE, UNSETTLED: A Tiny Particle’s Wobble Could Upend the Known Laws of Physics.
Evidence is mounting that a tiny subatomic particle seems to be disobeying the known laws of physics, scientists announced on Wednesday, a finding that would open a vast and tantalizing hole in our understanding of the universe.
The result, physicists say, suggests that there are forms of matter and energy vital to the nature and evolution of the cosmos that are not yet known to science.
But there’s a hint this may involve some salesmanship, too:
“This is our Mars rover landing moment,” said Chris Polly, a physicist at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory, or Fermilab, in Batavia, Ill., who has been working toward this finding for most of his career. . . .
Most physicists believe that a rich trove of new physics waits to be found, if only they could see deeper and further. The additional data from the Fermilab experiment could provide a major boost to scientists eager to build the next generation of expensive particle accelerators.
Well, stay tuned.

K-12 IMPLOSION UPDATE: Randi Weingarten Knows Nothing about Jewish Values.
Weingarten is the president of the powerful American Federation of Teachers, a nationwide teachers’ union. When Jewish Telegraphic Agency recently asked her if she had a specific message for American Jews who have criticized her stance on school openings – which she often lies is a right-wing grievance – she answered like so:
American Jews are now part of the ownership class. What I hear when I hear that question is that those who are in the ownership class now want to take that ladder of opportunity away from those who do not have it.
Weingarten’s rhetoric immediately reminded me of Karl Marx’s anti-Semitic diatribe, “On the Jewish Question,” where the infamous crackpot argued that the “secret” of the Jew is to accumulate wealth for “practical need,” “self-interest,” and “huckstering.”
Weingarten combines two contemporary progressive doctrines, class and race struggle, to level her smear. There is not a single person who has even a mild acquaintance with American Jewry that would believe they are trying to take away “the ladder of opportunity” from others.
This brand of anti-Semitic rhetoric has been a growing feature within the progressive Left – which spends its days seeking out minor, often imaginary, thoughtcrimes. These are almost always rationalized and ignored. The fact is that not a single conservative would survive in public life after contending that the Jewish “ownership class” is working to stop the advancement of the less fortunate.
The Corbynization of the Democratic Party continues apace.
WHY IS THE LEFT SUCH A CESSPIT OF HATE? Best-Selling Devotional Has Prayer to ‘Help Me to Hate White People.’
How far have we come since Martin Luther King Jr. gave his famous “I Have a Dream” speech?
Sometimes, I’m not so sure. While our society has made tremendous progress toward the idea that all men are created equal, anti-whiteness seems to be all the rage these days. And that is no less racist than hating anyone of any other color.
Yet, in the book, A Rhythm of Prayer: A Collection of Meditations for Renewal, there is a prayer called “Prayer of a Weary Black Woman” that asks God to “help me to hate white people.”
Dear God,
Please help me to hate white people. Or at least to want to hate them. At least, I want to stop caring about them, individually and collectively. I want to stop caring about their misguided, racist souls, to stop believing that they can be better, that they can stop being racist.
The book, published in February, was a New York Times bestseller.

To be woke was to see the light of racial domination and all that it entailed. It felt like I was witnessing a religious revival in service of a new spiritual, political and social movement. Wokeness sees itself not merely as a social movement to end racism but as a complete worldview that supersedes the existing white supremacist order. It has its own internal logic. Its own vocabulary. Its own history, philosophy and conception of morality and law. And it carries, like all religions, a dogma that is not to be questioned.”
THE STRESS COMES FROM THE NEWS MEDIA: Unwanted Weight Change During The Pandemic? Your Stress Hormones Could Be to Blame. They’re basically tobacco companies for the mind.
DON’T KID YOURSELF: There will be no consequences for the 60 Minutes hit job on Gov. DeSantis.
If you’re angry, it doesn’t matter. Nothing is going to happen. No one at CBS will be held accountable. No one will be fired, demoted, or even reprimanded. In fact, CBS will almost certainly pull this same type of stunt again in the very near future.
That’s the way it is.
The news industry is a multibillion-dollar monster, an untouchable beast with the power to influence legislation and launch wars. It’s accountable to nothing except for maybe elite opinion and its own kind, and even then, many journalists are unwilling to criticize “legendary” reporters and journalistic institutions for fear of souring possible career opportunities.
There’s a reason why Katie Couric is still beloved among her media peers, even after she was caught deceptively editing an interview to make Virginia gun rights activists look foolish. There’s a reason why ABC News has never been made to answer for the incident wherein it aired footage taken from a gun range in Kentucky and claimed the video showed a Trump administration-enabled war crime in Syria. There’s a reason CBS has never been made to answer for why it conspired with ABC to fire the CBS staffer suspected of leaking a video showing journalist Amy Robach claiming on camera her superiors spiked her reporting on Jeffery Epstein and his network of well-connected sexual predators. There’s a reason even disgraced newsman Dan Rather, who is treated now as an elder statesman of reporting, complete with journalism awards named in his honor, has been invited to participate in any Biden White House press briefing of his choosing.
There could be one consequence, however: “If Gov. DeSantis goes on to be the Republican nominee in 2024, he should thank 60 Minutes in his victory speech.”
ANALYSIS: TRUE. The Democrats Are Stuck in 1964:
Why treat the black electorate like helpless children? It’s clear that when blacks are sufficiently motivated, they have little trouble meeting the same requirements that other groups meet and casting a vote. Democrats continue to claim that Republicans are advocating modern-day poll taxes and literacy tests in disguise, even as evidence to the contrary continues to mount.
Actually, that’s not quite fair to Democrats. According to the polls, most Democrats—as well as most Republicans, liberals, conservatives, blacks and whites, don’t object to things like requiring people to prove who they say they are before voting. Liberal activists and their friends in the political press like to obsess over such things, but outside that bubble none of this is especially controversial.
In a saner political environment, Democrats and Republicans would stipulate both that Joe Biden won the presidency legitimately and that the pandemic election exposed significant flaws in our voting system that ought to be addressed in a bipartisan fashion as soon as possible. We have a closely divided House and Senate and a midterm election 19 months off. Yet in lieu of a sober discussion about voting procedures we have a surfeit of political posturing and scare-mongering, along with a president who believes, Trumplike, that his job description includes things like determining the location of Major League Baseball’s All-Star Game.

WE ARE LED BY IDIOTS: CDC Narrative on COVID Was Just Blown Up by…Fauci?
The fourth COVID wave is canceled now. Dr. Anthony Fauci, Biden’s COVID czar, said so. In doing so, he delivered a nuclear strike against the narrative that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has been trying to conjure for days. We’re facing impending doom from spring breakers enjoying their time in the sun. Nothing happened. Let’s go back even further to the Conservative Political Action Conference that was held in Orlando last February. Where were the outbreak stories two weeks after that event? The CDC says the vaccinated can travel, only to backtrack in less than 36 hours. What is it, folks? I know many stopped listening to these clowns a long time ago, but now—with vaccinations rolling out swimmingly—it’s truly time to stop panicking. The CDC said a COVID doomsday is coming. Fauci just said, Nah—I don’t think that’s going to happen.

MARGARET DUMONT HAS LEFT THE BUILDING: Top CNN Personality Leaves the Network, Burns the Place Down on the Way Out.
I’m sure getting pulled for someone as unimpressive as Jake Tapper stung a bit. Regardless, I find all this pretty funny. You can never be woke enough, and that’s true for CNN as well. They can virtue signal all day about women’s rights, but they’ll still be accused of misogynism at the end of the day because there’s no end point to this stuff. The grievances just keep flowing.
It’s also worth noting that [Brooke] Baldwin completely ripped the mask off in this interview. She outwardly praised liberal hacks like Stacey Abrams and Meagan Rapinoe, which isn’t surprising. I guess she’s no longer a “journalist” for the moment so she might as well let it rip.
As to where Baldwin goes from here, I’m not sure. She hasn’t made an announcement, but you can surmise it’ll probably involve some form of liberal activism. I mean, that’s what she was doing at CNN anyway.
We’ll always have this moment, though: ‘I’m Done:’ CNN’s Brooke Baldwin explodes after Clay Travis says he believes in “the First Amendment and boobs.”
