OPEN THREAD: Cool on it.

I HAD MISSED THIS, BUT I’M SURE IT’S NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT: Australia’s central bank loses yield control as bonds melt down. “Australia’s central bank on Friday lost all control of the yield target key to its stimulus policy as bonds suffered their biggest shellacking in decades and markets howled for rate hikes as soon as April. An already torrid week for debt got even worse when the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) again declined to defend its 0.1% target for the key April 2024 bond , even though its yield was all the way up at 0.58%. Scenting capitulation, speculators sent the yield sky-rocketing to 0.75% while yields on three-year bonds recorded their biggest monthly increase since 1994.”

DO TELL:

I love the lack of sympathy for Slate’s viewpoint.

UPDATE:

I’M GUESSING IT’S MORE STAFFING THAN WEATHER, AND I’M GUESSING I KNOW WHAT THE STAFFING PROBLEM IS: American Airlines cancels more than 1,600 weekend flights, citing weather and staffing. “The disruptions were similar in their initial cause and size to problems suffered in early October by Southwest Airlines, and they raised ominous questions about whether major airlines are prepared for the busy upcoming holiday travel period.”

Totally, completely unrelated: Southwest Airlines apologizes for pilot’s “Let’s Go Brandon” remark.

KAROL MARKOWICZ: Biden administration’s new gender equity plan is an insult to women. “Michelle Obama applauded it: ‘It’s about making sure that every single person can reach their full potential — in our country and around the world.’ That seems ambitious for an administration struggling to get milk on supermarket shelves.”

Ouch.
