THIS IS NOT IN THE NAME OF JUSTICE. THIS IS NOT IN THE NAME OF SANITY. THIS IS JUST UTTER STUPID ATTEMPTING TO SUMMON “FREE STUFF” THAT FLOWS WHENEVER YOU SHOW ENOUGH “OUTRAGE.”  THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH A DEATH OR A CULPABLE POLICE OFFICER. THIS IS A MANIFESTATION OF THE SAME IDIOCY THAT WANTS EVERYONE LOCKED UP FOREVER BECAUSE “THE GOVERNMENT CAN JUST SEND EVERYONE MONEY:” Riots Destroy $30M Affordable Housing Project.

There is no understanding of what constitutes real wealth or even “how to make a living.”

The good news is that we, as a society, have been wealthy enough for long enough to have raised a whole bunch of toddlers in adult bodies (most of which are the very white kiddies of antifa. Don’t let anyone tell you this is a race riot. This is a socialist riot. A series of them.)
The bad news are plain enough.

The sad news, for my community personally, is that Uncle Hugo’s bookstore has burned to the ground.  They say they’ll rebuild.  (Saint Leibowitz, ora pro nobis. (Hey, A Canticle for Leibowitz was the second SF book I read. Those who have read it will understand my evoking it on the burning of bookstores.))

OPPORTUNISTIC? TOO COORDINATED FOR THAT. PRE-PLANNED RIOTS.  REMEMBER THAT THE LEFT DOESN’T VIEW SETTING THE WEST ON FIRE AND CRASHING THE WORLD ECONOMY AS A PRICE TO PAY TO GET ORANGEMANBAD OUT OF OFFICE. THEY REGARD TAKING WESTERN CIVILIZATION DOWN AS AN UNALLOYED GOOD IN AND OF ITSELF:  Floyd Protests Transform Into Opportunistic Riots.

SERIOUSLY….  THE CELL PHONE VIDEO OPENS WITH A MAN HANGING FROM A CAR, BUT WE’RE TOLD SOMEONE TURNED AROUND TO RUN A PROTESTER OVER? OR PERHAPS SINCE THE RIOTERS HAVE BEEN TRYING TO PULL PEOPLE FROM CARS TO BEAT, SOMEONE JUST REFUSED TO STOP:  Driver runs over man at George Floyd demonstration in Denver.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

BLUE CITIES ALL OVER ARE IN TROUBLE: Curfew in effect as protests continue in Nashville. “The mayor has implemented a curfew for Nashville residents. Buildings were damaged, a fire at the courthouse and officers were attacked as protests continue in downtown Nashville on Saturday evening. Mayor John Cooper signed an executive order, which declared a state of civil emergency, and setup a curfew for 10 p.m. in Nashville. Police said anyone on the streets is subject to an arrest.”

Treat violent rioters as harshly as you treat salon owners trying to save their businesses, that’s all I ask . . .

UPDATE: Harsh, but fair:

OPEN THREAD: Don’t think that I’m out of line, for speaking out for what is mine.

ONE THING THIS SUGGESTS IS THAT OUR POLITICAL LEADERS ARE USUALLY WRONG IN THEIR PRESCRIPTIONS: “The question of yellow fever treatment quickly became political. Rush was a member of the Democratic‐Republican Party, while Hamilton was a Federalist. Whether one favored mercury and bloodletting or milder treatments such as cinchona bark became a partisan issue.”

Neither actually worked.

TWO CNNs IN ONE!

● Shot: “Assertions about outside agitators come partly from data about who has been arrested, as well as information from fliers and online postings, according to state public safety commissioner John Harrington, who said authorities had ‘seen things like white supremacists organizers’ who had posted online about going to Minnesota. Officials did not provide further details about who exactly was fueling the unrest and where they were from. Harrington said he hoped to release more information later Saturday.”

—“Minnesota officials say outsiders are hijacking protests and ‘attacking civil society,’” CNN, today.

● Chaser: Colin Kaepernick starts legal defense fund for protesters arrested in Minneapolis.

—Headline, CNN today.

WELL, THIS DOESN’T FIT TODAY’S NARRATIVE:

Jail records show most arrested in Minneapolis riots have Minnesota addresses.

—KMSP, the Minneapolis Fox TV affiliate, today.

● “[Adam Leggat, a former British Army counterterrorism officer who now works as a security consultant specializing in crowd management for the Densus Group] said intelligence reports from his colleagues indicate most of the hard-core protesters in Minneapolis are far-left or anarchists, and that far-right groups have not yet made a significant appearance. He said looting is typically done by locals – usually people with no criminal record who just get caught up in the moment.”

USA Today, err, today.

Found via Jon Gabriel, who tweets, “As some of us have been saying since this began. Most the violence is orchestrated by privileged white Antifa. Catch up, media.”

Catch up? The Democratic Party politicians and their operatives with bylines have a narrative they’re hastily trying to construct.

UPDATE: “One of the ironies of post-Great Awokening politics is that white, lefty politicians facing violence from leftists within their own jurisdictions now have to reinterpret the violence as right-wing in order to assert the legitimacy of public order,” NRO’s Peter Spiliakos tweets.

“It seems like the looting of the CNN headquarters was the turning point that led pundits, political advisers, and govt officials to say ‘actually this is a white nationalist psyop’ which is hilarious,” Joe Gabriel Simonson of the Washington Examiner adds.

ANTIFA’S WHITE PRIVILEGE:

There is no right to burn down your neighborhood, but it’s always an option. Freedom means choice, and real freedom must include the choice of self-destruction — but not destroying someone else’s neighborhood. Especially not when the neighborhood is mostly black and poor. That is what the privileged whites of antifa are doing by instigating disorder and destruction in Minneapolis’s 3rd precinct and elsewhere. ‘Every single person we arrested last night, I’m told, was from out of state,’ says Melvin Carter, Mayor of St Paul. Cost-free kicks at black people’s expense: the height of white privilege.

Race is the American sickness, and though everyone is sick of it, no one has the cure. The murder of George Floyd and the fact that it took riots before his killer was charged, confirms, should anyone still need confirmation, that Americans are still not equal before the law. Don military fatigues and storm the Michigan statehouse, and the police will recognize you as a fellow patriot. Pass a counterfeit bill while black, however, and no law can protect you from the law.

The laws that antifa learn to despise in their four-year colleges guarantee their racial privilege. If you’re black and angry enough to burn down banks and stores in your black neighborhood, tomorrow you’ll have to live in the ruins. If you’re white and you burn down banks and stores in someone else’s neighborhood, tomorrow you’ll be back in white world: fixing bikes or brewing espresso, waiting for The Man to cancel your student loans, living in a historic urban neighborhood whose historic black population you and your white friends have gentrified out of sight.

Antifa has such white privilege that the leftwing politicians and media figures will straight-up gaslight to avoid mentioning their involvement in the past week’s riots: Minnesota Governor and Media Blame White Nationalists and Russians for Riots.

As prolific tweeter “Neontaster” writes, the “narrative whiplash” may be so painful that some will need neck-braces. Oceania has never been at war with east Minneapolis:

UPDATE: “For the media and their political counterparts to finally admit that rioting and looting is bad, they had to decide on the acceptable group to blame. you see them working through their choices now,” Greg Gutfeld tweets.

FREDO FAIL: CNN Host Chris Cuomo’s Viewership Has Plunged By Half Since He Contracted Coronavirus After Segments With Brother Andrew Were Panned As Ratings Stunts.

Can’t imagine why: Chris Cuomo’s COVID-19 Interviews With Andrew Cuomo Are Disgraceful.

On Wednesday, CNN primetime anchor Chris Cuomo interviewed New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D), for the 10th time since the coronavirus pandemic began. The TV host’s hardest-hitting question for his older brother was whether the COVID-19 testing swabs are too small for his gigantic nose.

“[The nurse told me] that I have a little button nose,” the governor countered.

It was a moment that should have embarrassed CNN, whose journalists frequently—and often justifiably—criticize other networks for lobbing softball questions at President Donald Trump. And yet Chris Cuomo’s employers have decided to let his bad family comedy routine play out night after night, as the brothers fake-argue about which one is mom’s favorite, who would win in a fight, and where the tomato sauce recipe went.

Some viewers might appreciate an occasional light-hearted break from the constant stream of grim COVID-19 news, but this is getting ridiculous. The U.S. has now suffered an estimated 95,000 COVID-19 deaths, with 22,000 in the state of New York alone. Andrew Cuomo is the governor of that state, and the decisions he made have some bearing on that number. On March 25, for instance, Cuomo ordered nursing homes to admit seniors who had tested positive for the coronavirus: a wave of deaths in senior care facilities followed that decision. Grilling him about this misstep is no less vital than grilling Trump about his handling of the crisis—a task that CNN relishes.

Even though Chris Cuomo had previously broken quarantine, as spotted by a 65-year old Long Island cyclist that Cuomo verbally attacked, CNN staged Cuomo’s emergence from his basement like it was the Resurrection: “But another current CNN employee who spoke with THR criticized Cuomo’s appearances, particularly the dramatic moment last Monday when he was filmed leaving the basement where he was quarantined to reunite with his family, as ‘reality TV.’ ‘Him coming out of the quarantine with the cameras there, that’s all Jeff Zucker reality TV, and that screams Zucker,’ the person says, referring to the network president who brought The Apprentice to NBC and helped make Trump a star.”
