THROW IN THE WHO AND THE UN.  PUT ALL OF THOSE CRAZY IDEAS IN A SACK AND DROWN THEM LIKE A LITTER OF MALFORMED PUPPIES ALREADY. IN THE FUTURE HISTORIANS WILL LOOK ON THE 20TH CENTURY LIKE WE LOOK ON THE FOURTEENTH. THE DIFFERENCE IS THAT THE DISASTERS OF THE 14TH CENTURY WERE NOT CAUSED BY DERANGED IDEAS:  It’s Time to Exit Relics of Globalism Like the WTO.

WHEN THE SEWERS ARE TORN OPEN, AND WE SMELL THE EFFLUVIA, THERE IS A TEMPTATION TO PRETEND THE SH*T WASN’T ALWAYS THERE.  IT WAS. AND WE HAVE ONLY STARTED TO SCRATCH THE SURFACE. THE LEFT IS CORRUPT BECAUSE THE LEFT HASN’T BEEN HELD ACCOUNTABLE BY THEIR WHOLLY-OWNED PRESS FOR OVER 50 YEARS. THERE’S SH*T THERE THAT WOULD SHOCK EVEN ME, IF I DIDN’T GUESS AT IT LONG AGO:  John Brennan and the Plot to Subvert an American Election.

I JUST WANT TO REMIND ALL THOSE WHO WEREN’T PAYING ATTENTION THAT THE USSR BILLED ITSELF AS ‘SCIENTIFICALLY GOVERNED.” AT NO TIME DOES ‘SCIENTIFIC’ RULE BY ‘EXPERTS’ END WELL. EVER:  So Much for Specialists?

LOOK, I AM NOT SAYING I WON’T ENGAGE IN LARP (LIVE ACTION ROLE PLAYING [GAME]). I HAVEN’T YET. BUT I HAVE SOME BOOKS FOR SOME SYSTEMS I’M A FAN OF. BUT THIS WINNIE THE FLU SUPPOSEDLY APOCALYPTIC LARP? IT’S BORING, INCONSISTENT, POORLY WRITTEN AND NOT LOGICAL. I WILL NOT PLAY. I AWARD IT NO POINTS, AND MAY G-D HAVE MERCY ON ITS SOUL:  Mask On Or Mask Off, All Virtue Signalling.

FAILING AT WHAT, PRECISELY? ALSO, WHAT PRECISELY DO WE NEED IT FOR? CAN WE SHED THE FANTASIES OF THE 20TH CENTURY PLEASE? IF THERE’S AN IDEA THAT DESERVES BURIAL ALONGSIDE THE IDEA OF THE VIBRANT AND INNOVATIVE PLANNED ECONOMY WITH ITS HAPPY AND FREE PEOPLE, IT’S THE IDEA THAT A WORLD ASSOCIATION OF TYRANTS, KLEPTOCRACIES AND A FEW MORE OR LESS FREE COUNTRIES IS ANYTHING BUT SIX WOLVES AND A SHEEP DISCUSSING WHAT TO HAVE FOR DINNER:  The United Nations is failing the world when we need it most.

If there’s some need for the UN it’s a stupid, nay surreal need. Kind of like a desperate necessity for violinists in a war zone.

THEY’VE STATED IT OUTRIGHT, THAT IT’S A GREAT CHANCE TO IMPLEMENT THEIR AGENDA. BELIEVE THEM:  The Coronavirus Fifth Column.

The enemies of the West and civilization seem to suffer from a compulsion to announce their true intentions. Only fools pretend they’re not telling the truth.

OPEN THREAD: If makin’ money doesn’t suit your mind, we’ve got something here.

HARSH, BUT FAIR.

Sit down, Willard, you’ve been owned.

COVERUP: Leaked data suggests China may have 640,000 coronavirus cases, not 80,000. “The virus tracker, compiled by China’s National University of Defense Technology and leaked to Foreign Policy magazine, appears to confirm fears that the nation’s Communist government is hiding the true nature of the outbreak that originated in Wuhan late last year. According to the report, the virus tracker consists of more than 640,000 rows of cases in 230 cities ranging from early February to late April and confirms the location of each infection.”

KATHY SHAIDLE ON IT HAPPENED HERE:

Note too that Brownlow and Mollo called their film It Happened Here; even raving leftist Sinclair Lewis was still American enough to stick an admittedly sarcastic Can’t” in the title of his fictional anti-fascist fantasia.

(As Tom Wolfe quipped, “The dark night of fascism is always descending in the United States — and yet lands only in Europe.”)

I also wonder if you could get almost 1,000 unpaid actors and extras in the United States circa 1945 to enthusiastically either put on Nazi uniforms and parade down a New York City street — one thinks of Rick’s retort to Major Strasser’s pointed question about his hometown in Casablanca — or remain in civilian clothes and cheer them on, as seen throughout It Happened Here.

* * * * * * * *

But It Happened Here is still a highly watchable curio, and an astonishing accomplishment for two young men barely out of their teens. (Brownlow grew up to become a beloved expert on, and preservationist of, silent films, and Mollo is the man Hollywood calls in to consult on period military uniforms. His late brother John won an Oscar for his Star Wars costumes. Speaking of which, the cinematographer, Peter Suschitzky, went on to shoot The Empire Strikes Back — and The Rocky Horror Picture Show — among others.)

I saw It Happened Here at the Film Forum in New York about 15 years or so ago, and it really is a wonder the film got made at all. But on a shoestring budget, the pair of novice directors explored some of the same territory that Fatherland and Man in the High Castle would mine decades later. Read the whole thing.
