JOHN DANIEL DAVIDSON: The Coronavirus Is Exposing Little Tyrants All Over The Country. “We’ve now witnessed local and state governments issue decrees about what people can and cannot buy in stores, arrest parents playing with their children in public parks, yank people off public buses at random, remove basketball rims along with private property, ticket churchgoers, and in one case try—and fail—to chase down a lone runner on an empty beach. All of this, we’re told, is for our own good.”

Read the whole thing.

NIH IN 2005: “Chloroquine, a relatively safe, effective and cheap drug used for treating many human diseases including malaria, amoebiosis and human immunodeficiency virus is effective in inhibiting the infection and spread of SARS CoV in cell culture. The fact that the drug has significant inhibitory antiviral effect when the susceptible cells were treated either prior to or after infection suggests a possible prophylactic and therapeutic use.”

TENNESSEE: Stand Down or Stay Apart? With COVID-19 cases and unemployment claims both rising, Gov. Bill Lee is mulling whether to ease restrictions.

The big hotspots in the state are Shelby County (Memphis) and Nashville and its surrounding counties. Those need to stay locked down, even if the rest of the state is opened up.

Related news from my neck of the woods: Coronavirus in Tennessee: active cases in Knox County up to 36, 166 total. “The total number of recovered cases now stands at 126. Recovered cases refer to those who have been released from isolation after seven days from their onset of symptoms, plus 72 hours of being symptom-free. Recovered does not mean necessarily the person had to be hospitalized. 20 of the 166 cases have resulted in hospitalization at any point during the illness. This figure does not reflect the number of patients currently hospitalized in the county. In Knox County, 3587 total COVID-19 tests have now been conducted.”

ANALYSIS: TRUE. Democrats Would Rather Blame Trump than China for the Pandemic.

As I say, it gets easier and easier to figure out who’s on the payroll, or at least on the team.

The American media could not care less about informing the public. Journalists serve only to spin nowadays.”

Our media’s behavior has gone from pathological to outright dangerous. How many people will die as a result of their dedication to a politicized narrative?

THE SHAM THAT WAS THE “RUSSIA COLLUSION” INVESTIGATION: JustTheNews publishes an excellent survey cataloging what you already suspected:

“[A]fter countless open record lawsuits, congressional investigations, sworn depositions and declassifications, there is compelling evidence that the FBI did not have justification to sustain its nearly three year-long, now debunked, Russia collusion probe or to support Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act warrants targeting the Trump campaign.”

There is no other way to describe this other than a legislative attempt of a coup d’etat. The deniers kept bellowing, the lapdogs in MSM led the gaslighting that “there was no evidence” and painted anyone who thought it worth looking into as “loony conspiracy nuts.” Not so fast:

The latest revelations came Friday, when previously classified footnotes from the Justice Department inspector general were unmasked and showed the FBI had stunning reason to distrust Christopher Steele’s dossier when the former British spy first pitched it in July 2016.

Of course, while Russia was the convenient bogeyman, China was busy hiding the truth about COVID-19, manipulating supply chains and pressuring the W.H.O. into legitimizing their — I’ll say it — crimes against humanity.

Shameless hypocrisy, you’re doing it right.

HILLARY CHABOT: Sexual assault allegation against Joe Biden splits Democrats: Deleted NYT tweet fuels uproar over accusations.

Conservatives and liberals found rare common ground Saturday, blasting the Democratic Party and the media for glaring #MeToo hypocrisy amid a decades-old sex assault accusation against presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden.

The squabble comes as Democrats desperately try to unite the party against President Trump less than a week after Sen. Bernie Sanders dropped out of the presidential contest.

The New York Times released a long article Saturday about Tara Reade, a former Biden staffer who says the then-senator sexually assaulted her in 1993. The article — released a week after Biden had already secured the nomination — even gave readers a handy summation.

“The Times found no pattern of sexual misconduct by Biden,” it stated.

Critics ticked off a long list of issues with the story Saturday, but the most damning might have come from the paper itself.

An early-morning version tweeted out by the New York Times read: “The Times found no pattern of sexual misconduct by Mr. Biden beyond the hugs, kisses and touching that women previously said made them uncomfortable.”

That sentence was quietly edited and the tweet deleted hours later.

“Amazing retroactive whitewashing after they published their own story,” tweeted Glenn Greenwald, co-founder of the progressive online news site The Intercept.

Other complaints suggested mainstream news outlets like CNN and The Washington Post ignored the story altogether until Biden was secure as the presumptive nominee.

ROGER KIMBALL: Herd Immunity vs. Herd Mentality. “Even in New York City, where hospitals have had to scramble to keep up with the cataract of patients, there is no crisis. Told that there would be, the president had Manhattan’s Javits Center converted into a 1,000-bed hospital and brought the Navy medical ship Comfort with its 500 beds to dock in Manhattan. As I write, Comfort has a total of 60-odd cases, while the Javits Center’s impromptu hospital has only 225 patients. Both are “mostly empty.” How long will it be before both follow the lead of the Army field hospital in Seattle? It was hastily erected to deal with the predicted surge in COVID-19 patients. But the surge never came. Over the course of nine days, it never saw a patient. Now it is leaving.”

So far, things aren’t living up to the experts’ predictions.

KRUISER’S MORNING BRIEF: Coronavirus Quarantine Easter Monday Reflections. “There was something beautiful in the way people of Christian faith rallied to make sure that Easter Sunday services would still be celebrated in some fashion. Viewing it all through a television or computer could be seen as detached and clinical, but I found it to be a wonderful testament to the spirit of true believers. We couldn’t have what we wanted, but we made sure that we celebrated the most sacred of days was still celebrated in the best way that we could fashion a community to do so.”

UNDOUBTEDLY: If Biden Were President Our Coronavirus Economic Problems Would Be Worse.

We don’t have to speculate as to what Biden would have done differently in response to the pandemic — the former vice president has already told us.

First and foremost, Biden would not have implemented life-saving travel restrictions on China in the early days of the outbreak, as President Trump has been praised for doing by the nation’s top public health experts. At the time, Biden argued that the White House was overreacting to the novel coronavirus threat, even calling the President’s response “xenophobic,” but he now acts as though he supported travel restrictions all along.

The rest of Biden’s comments over the course of this crisis have been equally disjointed and nonsensical, making it painfully clear that he’s completely out of his depth on this issue. The country is fortunate that Biden isn’t responsible for safeguarding our prosperity at this critical juncture.

Even after the economy fully reopens, though, a Biden administration would be more than our recovering economy could bear. His plans to “get rid of fossil fuels,” for instance, would needlessly sacrifice hundreds of thousands of American jobs while raising the cost of living for working families all over the country. Meanwhile, his plan to raise taxes by over $4 trillion would undo the long-term benefits of the recent coronavirus relief measures, saddling families with an unnecessary financial burden at a time when many of them can least afford it.

Also, I’m pretty sure the stress of the job might kill him.
