GLEICHSCHALTUNG: Shut Down DC Targets Conservative Organizations as ‘Trump Boosters.’
Shut Down D.C., a progressive group that says it uses “strategic direct action to advance justice and hold officials accountable,” is targeting at least 27 conservative organizations in the Washington metro area as Election Day approaches.
An interactive map from Shut Down D.C. lists as “Trump boosters” a range of organizations, including The Heritage Foundation, the parent organization of The Daily Signal.
Other groups listed include Americans for Prosperity, Competitive Enterprise Institute, FreedomWorks, Leadership Institute, National Taxpayers Union, Republican Jewish Coalition, and UrbanCURE. (The complete list is below.)
Shut Down D.C.’s map contains the address, phone number, and website for each listed group. It also shows the location of media organizations, technology companies, and government offices in Washington, D.C.
The left-wing group’s website boasts that “we’re getting ready for an uprising. Now’s the time to get involved so we’re ready to hit the streets.”
I get the feeling it isn’t really the streets they want to hit.

THE 41% SOLUTION: 41% Wrecks Dems’ Confidence, Biden Camp’s Narrative.
I’ve been covering American politics for a long time and I can’t remember a number that so dramatically altered the political community’s perception of a presidential campaign as that number did, last night, at 7:30 p.m. Eastern Time.
The source of the number was The Iowa Poll, which has been the gold standard for statewide polling in the United States for decades. The number itself was the percentage of likely voters in Iowa supporting Joe Biden’s candidacy for president.
President Trump’s number was 48%, which put him ahead in the “horse race” by 7 percentage points. There was nothing really remarkable about that, in context. Mr. Trump won the state in 2016 by (roughly) nine percentage points.
What was remarkable was Biden’s 41%. What made it doubly disconcerting was the way The Des Moines Register (accurately) described the poll results:
“Republican President Donald Trump has taken over the lead in Iowa as Democratic former Vice President Joe Biden has faded…”
Faded! Could there be a more terrible word in the last week of a presidential campaign?

One of the most persistent themes in my conversations with voters across the country, no matter who they are voting for, has been this outside pressure from our culture to shed the past and how it formed who we are as people because it has been rendered unacceptable in today’s society. The cultural curators in our country, the entities who hold the power and influence in everything we do from how we consume our news, watch our sports and movies, and use our phones, long ago shed any association with people who live and work and pray outside of the super ZIP codes of wealth and power. The cultural elites rarely have anyone in their boardrooms, C-suites, newsrooms, or bureaucracies who went to a state school or sit in a pew every Sunday or own a gun or grew up in a community with a mix of social-economic experiences.
It’s not so much our political class’s power that bothers people. It’s their inexhaustible need to sanctimoniously hector and degrade those they see as their inferiors.

But if Trump is re-elected, the Democrats need to purge the loony left, as Labour is beginning to do now and as the Democrats did after 1988. They came back with Bill Clinton, but are there enough non-loony Democrats to reorient the party that way today? (Spoiler: No.)

The emphasis comes amid Trump’s increasing focus on withdrawing troops from Afghanistan and other so-called forever wars. At the same time, the rhetoric from his national security and economic teams has increasingly focused on shipbuilding and growing the Navy.
In interviews, more than half a dozen senior White House officials and aides described to Defense News an emerging maritime strategy that combines pulling back from long conflicts on land with growing the fleet. The new direction is viewed as a way to directly counter Chinese expansion while adding more industrial jobs to the economy. But analysts, who see little potential for defense spending increases in the wake of a staggering coronavirus-relief spending binge, say such a plan would cost tens of billions of dollars and could necessitate big cuts to other armed services.

FOREIGN INFLUENCE: Beijing Using Political Warfare to Subvert Free Societies Worldwide, State Department Official Warns.
The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is deploying political warfare to covertly influence free societies around the world, a top State Department official has warned.
The regime “wants control, or at least veto power, over public discourse and political decisions the world over,” said David Stilwell, assistant secretary of state for East Asian and Pacific affairs, at a virtual discussion hosted by Stanford’s Hoover Institution on Oct. 30.
It accomplishes that through a wide array of malign activities that are “covert, coercive, and corrupting,” he said. These activities are dubbed by the CCP as “United Front Work” but better understood in the West as political warfare, Stilwell said.
United Front Work, described by Party leaders as a “magic weapon,” involves the efforts of thousands of overseas groups that carry out political influence operations, suppress dissident movements, gather intelligence, and facilitate the transfer of technology to China. These groups are coordinated by the Party agency the United Front Work Department (UFWD).
While some United Front organizations publicly state their affiliation with Beijing, “most try to present themselves as independent, grassroots-type NGOs, cultural-exchange forums, ‘friendship’ associations, chambers of commerce, media outlets, or academic groups,” Stilwell said.
A recent investigation by Newsweek found about 600 such groups in the United States. Stilwell said the groups include Beijing-backed Confucius Institutes that sit on dozens of American college campuses, Chinese students and scholars associations, private Chinese companies, and other groups working to co-opt state and local governments.
And, of course, there are the bribes to the Biden Family.

As one wag observed: Who knew stealing a 60-inch flat screen TV from a Walmart erases everything bad since 1619? And as for me, I wouldn’t help bail any of them from either side out of jail.
MIGHT WANT TO AVOID DOWNTOWN DC THIS WEEK: Leftist thugs with ShutdownDC are open about their plans and one hopes that, win or lose Tuesday, Trump, who will still be chief executive, will respond with uncompromising force.
