TRUMP HAS BROKEN HER:

FIGHT THE POWER: Florida Carry Wins Lawsuit Against Broward County. “In his ruling Judge Carlos Rodriguez granted Florida Carry’s request for summary judgement and permanently enjoined Broward County from enforcing their illegal gun laws. Florida Carry was also awarded reimbursement of legal fees.”

STEPHEN MILLER: The media horror at Joker’s Oscar nods is deeply predictable. “The widespread industry acceptance of Joker is what perplexes the most, almost as though Hollywood itself has had enough of the protests, the lectures and the scolding. Perhaps the times are changing, led by Quentin Tarantino, who will almost assuredly walk away with Best Picture and Best Director honors this year, even as he refuses to entertain questions about how many lines his actresses have.”

FROM AMERICA’S NEWSPAPER OF RECORD: “The FCC announced today that the next Democratic debate will not require viewers to use a color television. The decision was made in part due to the fact that all the remaining candidates are white…The FCC will soon ask viewers to upgrade to color television in advance of the presidential debates this fall, as the incumbent will require televisions that display a brilliant orange hue.”

Heh, indeed.™

ARE YOU TIRED OF WINNING YET? For First Time in 26 Years, All U.S. Metros Enjoyed Income Gains. “Americans in every U.S. metropolitan area experienced economic prosperity in 2018, according to a recent report from the Bureau of Economic Analysis. For the first time in 26 years, no metro area saw per-capita incomes fall that year — the latest available data — and it was only the fourth time since 1970 that every U.S. urban region experienced prosperity.”

FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF EARTH-SHATTERING KABOOMS: Crater Left by One of Earth’s Biggest Ever Meteorite Impacts Finally Found. “About 800,000 years ago, a monster space rock struck the Earth hard and fast. The impact of the 1.2 mile-wide (1.9 kilometre-wide) meteorite flung debris across 10 percent of the planet’s surface. Scientists have found this ancient debris, mostly in the form of glass blobs known as tektites, in Asia, Australia, and Antarctica. But until now, researchers had never found the site where the meteorite hit. They’d been searching unsuccessfully for more than a century.”

How’s that space program coming along?

AND NOW A FEW WORDS FROM PRIME MINISTER ZOOLANDER: Iran Shoots Down Passenger Plane and Kills 57 Canadians, Trudeau Blames Trump. As Jim Treacher writes, “this nonsense isn’t exactly a surprise. Trudeau’s gonna Trudeau. This is what he is. Incidentally, I’m glad Trudeau isn’t coloring his beard. Or any other part of his face.”

CHANGE: The Air Force’s B-52H Bomber Force Has Said Goodbye To Its Nuclear Bombs. “A new Air Force manual confirms that the only nuclear weapons these iconic aircraft are now approved to carry are nuclear-tipped cruise missiles.”

It’s about survivability. A B-52 has about the same radar cross-section as the Empire State Building, so you wouldn’t want to use anything but standoff weapons against near-peer adversaries, or even less-advanced countries equipped with Russian antiaircraft systems.

OR ANYTHING ELSE, REALLY: We Can’t Trust the Media to Report Honestly on Iran.

In the newest iteration of the story from NBC News, we learn that after Iran shot down a U.S. drone this summer, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and John Bolton, Trump’s then-national security adviser, tried to persuade Donald Trump to kill the Iranian terrorist leader. Trump, instinctively uneasy about escalating Middle East conflict, resisted the pressure. According to “current and former senior administration officials,” NBC News states, the president instead drew a red line: He would authorize the killing of Soleimani only “if Iran’s increased aggression resulted in the death of an American.”

Trump even tweeted, warning the mullahs that further violence would have repercussions.

Well, after subsequent escalations by Iran, and proxies attacked the United States embassy and murdered an American contractor, Trump followed through on his threat to take out Soleimani. Apparently Ali Khamenei did not take Trump literally or seriously.

The big problem with the NBC News account of the killing is that it conflicts almost entirely with the premise and tone of much of the earlier coverage, most notably an adjective-laden New York Times story published the day after Soleimani was killed, which claimed that Trump’s decision was extreme and impulsive.

Today’s pravda reflects today’s needs, comrade.
