CYBERSECURITY: Academics turn RAM into Wi-Fi cards to steal data from air-gapped systems.

At the core of the AIR-FI technique is the fact that any electronic component generates electromagnetic waves as electric current passes through.

Since Wi-Fi signals are radio waves and radio is basically electromagnetic waves, Guri argues that malicious code planted on an air-gapped system by attackers could manipulate the electrical current inside the RAM card in order to generate electromagnetic waves with the frequency consistent with the normal Wi-Fi signal spectrum (2,400 GHz).

In his research paper, titled “AIR-FI: Generating Covert WiFi Signals from Air-Gapped Computers,” Guri shows that perfectly timed read-write operations to a computer’s RAM card can make the card’s memory bus emit electromagnetic waves consistent with a weak Wi-Fi signal.

This signal can then be picked up by anything with a Wi-Fi antenna in the proximity of an air-gapped system, such as smartphones, laptops, IoT devices, smartwatches, and more.

It looks like you’d need a friendly within feet of the corrupted system, or a dupe carrying a smartphone, laptop, etc, that had also been corrupted.

Still, a fascinating hack.

GOOD: Tech Giants Risk Breakup Under Strict EU Digital Rules.

U.S. and other major tech platforms that treat their own services more favorably, at the expense of rivals, could be forced to sell businesses and pay billion-dollar fines under strict rules unveiled by the European Union.

Under the EU’s new Digital Markets Act, companies deemed to be so-called “gatekeepers” won’t be allowed to rank their offerings above rivals on their own platforms, or use competitors’ data to compete with them, according to the proposed regulation released on Tuesday.

Companies like Amazon.com Inc, Apple Inc. or Alphabet Inc.’s Google could face fines of as much as 10% of their revenue if they don’t comply, while a company that has repeatedly breached the rules could face orders to divest businesses, confirming a Bloomberg report on Monday. Gatekeepers will also need to inform regulators about smaller acquisitions that would otherwise fall below traditional merger-review thresholds.

The U.S. needs to do more on the antitrust front too.

AND BY FRAUDING THEIR WAY INTO POWER IN THE US, THE GLOBAL LEFT IS ABOUT TO PUT AN END TO ALL THEIR BELOVED CLIMATE PLAY ACTING. AS THIS GUY HAS FIGURED OUT, AND IN MORE HOMEY LANGUAGE, ALREADY “AIN’T NOBODY GOT ENOUGH MONEY FOR THAT.”  IMAGINE WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE GLOBAL LEFT PUTS A SABOT IN THE ECONOMIC ENGINE OF THE WORLD:  Former environment senator Fritz Vahrenholt: “We are threatened by a dramatic loss of prosperity”.

Lately this has been running through my mind at odd moments, and it seems to fit here:  The heathen are sunke downe in the pit that they made: in the net which they hid, is their own foot taken.

You want to take America, because it kept showing up how ridiculous your policies were? Fine and dandy, but you’ll fall first. And harder.

THIS IS NOT ABOUT TRUMP. IN A WAY IT WAS NEVER ABOUT TRUMP, THOUGH HE TURNED OUT WAY BETTER THAN I EXPECTED. THIS IS ABOUT THE FACT THAT THE WORLD IS NOT A TECHNOCRACY TO BE USED AND ABUSED BY WOULD-BE TECH LORDS WITH THE MINDS AND MORALS OF CRACK WHORES:  The Road to Hell.

Ultimately this is about “we the people.” And removing our ballot box and thinking this makes the self-proclaimed elites safe is like removing fire alarms from a house and thinking it will never burn down.

HIS GAME IS VERY SIMPLE. SINCE THE SYSTEM IS GOING TO LET THE DEMS GET AWAY WITH IN YOUR FACE FRAUD NATIONALLY, HE KNOWS THE FIX IS IN, AND HE’S LOOKING OUT FOR NUMBER ONE:  What’s Raffensperger’s game in Georgia?

A MESSAGE FROM A FORMER STUDENT:

I was appointed to three DUI cases involving the same arresting officer earlier this year and noticed several alarming patterns. The officer tended to move the defendants just off camera for the allegedly damning bits and he tended to provoke the defendants into blind rages by the time they were arrested, which got them to refuse a blood draw. Anyways, I got together with some local attorneys and they checked their videos and saw the same issues. The local bar decided to fight all his stops. We lost the first two, but put the judge and the DA on notice about these patterns and we won the next four in a row. Last week, my remaining cases with this officer were all quietly dismissed. So were all his cases. I’ve been asking with attorneys in surrounding counties who are now noticing the same issues and setting all his cases for trial. Looks like we may have successfully blackballed him.

I’m counting that my good deed for the year.

Notwithstanding the jokes, lawyers do a lot of good. I mean, it’s not as if the police will police the police.

OPEN THREAD: Enjoy yourselves.

SPEAKEASY OF SECRETS: Forgotten tales of debauchery from NYC’s ‘21’ Club. “The Post reported that the restaurant, New York’s last remaining eatery that once served as a Prohibition-era speakeasy, is closed indefinitely and may shut down for good in March. ‘I find it incredibly tragic,’ McInerney said, acknowledging that the real sadness is for suddenly unemployed workers there. ‘It is a loss to New York. There is so much history ensconced in that place.’”
