UNEXPECTEDLY: Minneapolis Law Preventing Business Owners from Protecting Their Own Property Backfires Horribly.
Yet even in the face of wanton destruction and violence, city ordinances are preventing Minneapolis business owners from protecting themselves and their property. As reported by the Minneapolis Star Tribune, the city currently bans exterior security shutters. These are the type of shutters they pull down over a mall storefront when it closes, that would make it much harder to break in and loot it. They also prevent windows from being broken, which can cost tens of thousands of dollars to replace.
Why are security shutters banned in Minneapolis? Because city officials say they “cause visual blight,” and “create the impression that an area is ‘unsafe’ and ‘troublesome.’”
Now, many business owners are running up against this regulation as they seek to protect their reopened stores from future flare-ups of violence. (The earlier riots destroyed at least 1,500 Minneapolis businesses.) Liquor store owner John Wolf saw his store looted after rioters broke in through his windows and stole more than $1 million in alcohol. He’s fuming at the city regulations that stop him from protecting his property.
Defund the police. Ban security shutters. Pick one — or not. In any case, this isn’t going to work out well for the city over the long term: The Economic Damage of Rioting Lasts for Decades.

Among political parties, only the Democrats allowed and tacitly encouraged the destruction of our cities. Of our businesses. Of our way of life. They’ve consistently tried to hide and downplay what has actually occurred. But most people aren’t that far removed from the reality around us—especially with the most important election of their lifetimes coming around the bend like a freight train. Now, after ceaseless riots in the wake of the unnecessary total shutdown of our economy, the Democrats’ panicked ploys to elect Joe Biden are causing millions of people across America to consider moving from their homes.
You have abetted the destruction of our cities so you could win an election. You—you corporate stooges, you glib and sinister Nurse Ratcheds, you elegant child abusers and mob apologists—have become a new party all your own. You are now the BLM-Antifa Party. You are too scared or too complicit to denounce either group.
Yet you now heap fearful denunciations on those who, however ill-advisedly, try to defend the life, liberty, and property that their complicit and incompetent governments will not. We will not mindlessly accept your kneejerk narrative about Kyle Rittenhouse being some kind of crazed Nazi who gunned down innocent protestors in cold blood. Your convenient narrative does not comport with the facts that even the New York Times recently set forth. We will wait for more facts. We will watch all the video. We will not throw him under the bus, and neither should any American who believes in equality under the law.
Of course we don’t want citizens roaming the streets with guns drawn. Of course this tempts fate—and risks more tragic, needless violence. But that’s the point for the BLM-Antifa Party. That’s exactly what they want. That’s exactly what you asked for when you unleashed them.

Racism for the cause of creating equality of outcomes is the new utopian goal. The hundreds of years of systemic racism and white supremacy – as Nikole Hannah-Jones argues in her reimagining of the founding of America in the 1619 Project makes the very foundation of America a house of cards. To follow her and her radical cohorts to the logical end, the whole thing must be burned down. And that’s what we are seeing in cities from New York to Wisconsin, Colorado, and Oregon. Kendi’s solution is presented in his book, in part:
- Invent or find antiracist policy that can eliminate racial inequity.
- Figure out who or what group has the power to institute antiracist policy.
- Disseminate and educate about the uncovered racist policy and antiracist policy correctives.
- Work with sympathetic antiracist policymakers to institute the antiracist policy.
- Deploy antiracist power to compel or drive from power the unsympathetic racist policymakers in order to institute the antiracist policy.
- Monitor closely to ensure the antiracist policy reduces and eliminates racist inequity.
- When policies fail, do not blame the people. Start over and seek out new and more effective antiracist treatments until they work.
- Monitor closely to prevent new racist policies from being instituted.
Kendi goes a step further in his proposal in Politico, that “to fix the original sin of racism, Americans should pass an anti-racist amendment to the U.S. Constitution”.
So why should it matter what some academics and fringe activists say about race relations and the evil that lurks in every non-black, American heart? Because they have willing accomplices in the liberal left of American politics. The Radical Chic that Tom Wolfe wrote famously about in the 1970s is now the Woke Decadence of the Twenty-First Century.
Well, that’s because we’re living in the version of the Matrix that Wolfe programmed just before his death in 2018. QED:

Everybody knows it’s perfectly rational to stand outside a man’s home with an infamous implement of execution, screaming that you want his money. We’ve all been there, right?
And of course, if this were some right-wing group standing in front of a rich man’s house with a guillotine, it would be days-long headline news. “Look at the scary Trump-humpers! What is this country coming to???” Etc. But journos agree with these idiots, even the WaPo hacks who work for Bezos, so they’ll just look the other way.

I watched the second night of the Republican National Convention the same way you fall in love or go bankrupt: gradually, but then suddenly stricken by a strange and somewhat inexplicable premonition. It was this: Donald John Trump is going to win in November, and win big.
Yeah, I know all about the polls. I understand the deep distaste many Americans, including some traditional Republican voters, feel for the president. I am well aware of the criticism of his conduct in handling COVID-19, or the riots following George Floyd’s death, or any number of issues. And yet, as Trump’s first surprise election ought to have taught us by now, when it comes to modern American politics, the only principle that truly matters is the Ooga Chaka principle: We vote for the candidate who gets us hooked on a feeling and high on believing.

Lin Wood, the famed attorney who successfully represented Covington Catholic’s Nick Sandmann in multiple lawsuits against the media, graciously and heroically offered to help Kyle Rittenhouse for free on Thursday morning after GoFundMe suspended his legal defense fund.
Rittenhouse is disturbingly being charged with first-degree murder for defending himself against a registered sex offender involved in sex crimes with a minor and two other violent assailants with criminal records that attacked him during the riots on Tuesday night in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
After witnessing Democrat congresswoman Ayanna Pressley smear Rittenhouse as a “white supremacist domestic terrorist,” Lin Wood tweeted: “Ayanna Pressley just got condemned to the World of the Blocked. She is no Elvis. And I am not a criminal defense lawyer but I am going to see what I can do tomorrow to help Kyle Rittenhouse. If a private defense lawyer steps up to defend him, please notify me of his or her name.”
But just try getting a rioting, thieving arsonist to face even a single charge.
