THE 1918 PANDEMIC DIDN’T SHUT DOWN BROADWAY OR SILENCE CARUSO: The Show Must Go On! Most of New York’s theaters and the Metropolitan Opera didn’t close during the Spanish flu pandemic. Here’s how they can reopen this year.

MEANWHILE, OVER AT VODKAPUNDIT: Two Americas: Karens and Everybody Else. “For the slightly more daring, Karens are prone to outrageous outbursts and, better yet, are easily provoked. Do you have a smartphone camera, a social media account, and a willingness to push a Karens’ buttons? Then you could very well create the next viral sensation here in Non-Karen America. Maybe not the viral sensation we deserve, but the one we need right now.”

Karens include pushy neighbors, the Wuhan Stasi, and Colorado Governor Jared Polis.

This one is just for our VIP members, and I hope you’ll use that VODKAPUNDIT discount code if you’ve been thinking of becoming a supporter.

THE SKY ISN’T FALLING IN SWEDEN OR GERMANY: Lockdown Skeptics. Toby Young’s daily roundup features more evidence that it’s time to ease the lockdowns — and that they didn’t do much good in the first place.

NO GAIN, MORE PAIN: Golden State Lockdown. Even with infections dropping, the Bay Area extends its shelter-in-place order.

CHRIS HAYES: Sometimes During #MeToo You ‘Desperately’ Want to Disbelieve Claims.

Is the dam breaking on the Joe Biden sexual assault case? On Thursday morning, ABC finally gave in and covered the latest. On Wednesday night, liberal host Chris Hayes featured the story in depth for over eight minutes. Keep in mind that, as of Tuesday morning, the whole MSNBC network only had accumulated 4 minutes and 39 seconds.

Hayes admitted that during #MeToo there have been moments “when we have heard about accusations against someone that we find ourselves desperately wanting not to believe.” Like, presumably, the Tara Reade case. The host struggled and stammered in parts of the segment, but he admitted that the credibility of Reade is “rising.”

“Hayes didn’t do himself any favors with fellow liberals by covering the story. #FireChrisHayes is now trending on Twitter.”

VICTOR DAVIS HANSON: As in 1944, Democratic Running Mate Selection Seems Pivotal. “Just as it was 76 years ago, when the presidential nominee’s health was failing and Henry Wallace was maneuvered off the ticket, we may well see a fight to ensure that a radical candidate is not selected as a Democratic running mate. This year, as in 1944, the VP job seems something more than a bucket of warm spit.”

COLORADO: Will Polis let Weld residents die to punish the county?

This is reprehensible. I’m disappointed to see Governor Polis would use the sick and dying as pawns in a political hit against Weld County.

As Weld County government has made it clear they won’t be pressuring or instructing any businesses within the county to open outside of the state order, they’ve also stated they will not use county resources to shut down or penalize business owners who choose to operate. In addition, they’re working to make certain all business owners have the information and tools they need to ensure they make the best decisions for their business and their communities, something that will vary greatly from county to county, city to city, and especially industry to industry.

In response to this, Governor Jared Polis has threatened to pull COVID-19 emergency funding from Weld County. This is the same governor who refers to the virus as the “Grim Reaper” when addressing the public.

Weld County is deeply red and home to most of Colorado’s fracking industry. It’s been called “Ground Zero In The Anti-Fracking Battle,” and needless to say the Democrats in Denver — Gov. Polis in particular — have been trying to kill Weld one way or another for years.

MEANWHILE, OVER AT VODKAPUNDIT: Despite Scare Tactics, No Wuhan Virus Spike After Wisconsin Election. “It seems at this point that the safest place to be is somewhere warm, or not-too densely populated, or not completely reliant on mass transportation. The worst place to be is any city governed by populist blowhard Bill de Blasio.”
