Qassim Soleimani, the head of Iran’s elite Quds Force, was killed in an airstrike at Baghdad’s international airport Friday, Iraqi television and three Iraqi officials said. The strike also killed Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the deputy commander of Iran-backed militias known as the Popular Mobilization Forces, or PMF, the officials said.”
Weird, just after the Iranians attacked our embassy, the senior guys behind it get personally whacked by an “airstrike” of unexplained origin. Whatever could have happened?

Good riddance to bad rubbish. I’ll bet Trump has the next step gamed out, too. The Iranians still seem to think they’re dealing with Obama, or post-2005 G.W. Bush.

I’ve wondered here before why the Bush Administration was so wimpy with regard to Iran starting in 2005. (It was easier — *cough* Valerie Jarrett *cough* — to see why the Obama Administration was). But it’s good that Trump isn’t.

Bernie Sanders led the Democratic candidate fund-raising pack for the fourth quarter of 2019 with a stellar 34.5 million dollars, much of it coming in small donations.
Good for Bernie but bad for us, because, as usual, the group making the largest number of these contributions is teachers.
While it’s unclear what percentage of these teachers are kindergarten, college or something in between, it’s highly likely a great many are sympathetic to Bernie’s credo of socialism and are imparting that system, consciously or not, to our children from their early years onwards.

RIP: Former Bengals, Buccaneers coach Sam Wyche dies at 74. “Wyche coached the Bengals for eight seasons from 1984 to 1991 and also was the head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for four seasons from 1992 to 1995. He went 61-66 with Cincinnati and guided the Bengals to an appearance in Super Bowl XXIII, where they lost to the San Francisco 49ers on a touchdown pass by Joe Montana with 34 seconds left in the game.”

That means that as the population of elders increases, so grows a group of consumers, workers and innovators. In other words, they’re not simply a group that needs services from the ‘silver economy’, which is aimed solely at older and ageing people – rather, the ageing population can continue to be full-service participants in the economy at large.” That helps offset the shortage of new workers from falling birthrates.
