SHE EXPECTS TO BE CALLED ‘DR’ FOR THAT? Hans Bader has examined Jill Biden’s dissertation and is not impressed.

JILL BIDEN’S DOCTORATE IS GARBAGE BECAUSE HER DISSERTATION IS GARBAGE:

Insisting on being called “Doctor” when you don’t heal people is, among most holders of doctorates, seen as a gauche, silly, cringey ego trip. Consider “Dr.” Jill Biden, who doesn’t even hold a Ph.D. but rather a lesser Ed.D., something of a joke in the academic world. President-elect Joe Biden once explained that his wife sought the degree purely for status reasons: “She said, ‘I was so sick of the mail coming to Sen. and Mrs. Biden. I wanted to get mail addressed to Dr. and Sen. Biden.’ That’s the real reason she got her doctorate,” Joe Biden has said.

Mrs. Biden wanted the credential for its own sake. As for its quality, well. She got it from the University of Delaware, whose ties to her husband, its most illustrious alumnus if you don’t count Joe Flacco, run so deep that it has a school of public policy named after him. That the University of Delaware would have rejected her 2006 dissertation as sloppy, poorly written, non-academic, and barely fit for a middle-school Social Studies classroom (all of which it is) when her husband had been representing its state in the U.S. Senate for more than three decades was about as likely as Tom Hagen telling Vito Corleone that his wife is a fat sow on payday. The only risk to the University of Delaware was that it might strain its collective wrist in its rush to rubber-stamp her doctoral paper. Mrs. Biden could have turned in a quarter-a**ed excuse for a magazine article written at the level of Simple English Wikipedia and been heartily congratulated by the university for her towering mastery. Which is exactly what happened.

Do I even need to add the obligatory read the whole thing at this point?

UPDATE: ‘Let me tell you, avoid her!’ Doctor Jill Biden’s professor ratings are not great, like at all (straight from the students!).

IN AUSTIN? YES, IN AUSTIN: Jimmy Flannigan Goes Down In Flames. “A tiny glimmer of hope in Austin’s winter of discontent: Liberal city councilman Jimmy Flannigan was defeated by Mackenzie Kelly.”

Before we get to the sordid details, a quick preview of today’s Wrap.

And so much more at the link, you’d have to be crazy to miss it.

HIGHER EDUCATION BUBBLE UPDATE: University of Iowa charges student with ‘professional misconduct’ for challenging its criticism of Trump order. “The University of Iowa’s College of Dentistry charged a student with ‘professional misconduct’ because he responded to its college-wide email condemning President Trump’s executive order on federally funded trainings in critical race theory, which may apply to some university activities. It refused to let him bring an attorney or record the hearing, even though possible outcomes were probation or dismissal from the program.”

KRUISER’S MORNING BRIEF: Trump Can Be a Social Media Kingmaker if Twitter Bans Him. “Twitter would stupid to get rid of Trump, of course. He’s the greatest free advertising the platform has ever had. They’ve been in the advanced stages of Trump Derangement Syndrome over there for a long time though, and we know those afflicted with it don’t make good choices.”

BIG TECH ON BIG TECH: Facebook criticizes Apple’s iOS privacy changes with full-page newspaper ads. “Developers will need to ask iOS 14 users for permission to gather data and track them across mobile apps and websites on an iPhone and iPad soon. Apple had planned to implement these changes with the initial iOS 14 release in September, but delayed enforcing them until early next year. These changes will impact Facebook’s ad business, and in particular its ad network for developers and businesses, as end users are more likely to opt out of tracking prompts.”

Actually, in the just-released iOS 14.3, end-users must opt in to app tracking.

Apps can’t even ask for permission to use tracking unless this new switch is set to on, and it’s set to off by default.

Apple’s motivation might be less about consumer privacy than it is about denying revenue to Facebook, but they have enhanced consumer privacy.

NEW POLL SHOWS MORE VOTERS THAN NOT THINK THERE WAS ELECTION FRAUD: More voters agree there was election fraud. “While a Tuesday Pew Research Center survey said that it was mostly Republicans who believed that fraud occurred, the new McLaughlin & Associates poll found that all voters, by a 46%-45% margin, believed that there was fraud.”
