ROUNDUP SUIT LAWYER ACCUSED OF $200 MILLION EXTORTION PLOT: “Law enforcement officials have arrested a Virginia lawyer involved in litigation over the health risks of Monsanto’s Roundup weed killer product, with prosecutors accusing him of trying to extort an unnamed company into a $200 million consulting fee with his legal firm.”

CHANGE: Congress slaps robocallers with $10,000 penalty—per call. “The new legislation allows federal authorities to seize the profits of robocall operators and assess an additional penalty of up to $10,000 per call. It also pushes telephone companies to implement SHAKEN and STIR, a suite of authentication protocols that will help the fight against robocalls.”

Good luck collecting from a bunch of criminal organizations in Pakistan or wherever, but maybe SHAKEN and STIR (cute) will do a better job of keeping robocalls from getting through.

THAT DOESN’T SOUND GOOD AT ALL: Drug-resistant dysentery emerges among gay men. “Australian researchers are sounding the alarm over cases of a highly infectious intestinal illness that appear to be resistant to all forms of standard oral antibiotic treatment. The disease is called shigellosis, a form of dysentery. So far, most cases have involved gay and bisexual men in the Australian state of Victoria, the researchers said.”

Maybe it won’t spread, maybe it will, but we need to get a handle on antibiotic resistance.

ANALYSIS: TRUE. CNN Is Not a News Network. And Jim Acosta is not a reporter. “With the possible exception of the hallucinatory MSNBC, no other institution in American life spent more time and effort indulging the false idea that President Trump was quite obviously guilty of treason, collusion, and bribery, and insisting that the impending Mueller report would not only reveal this guilt, but would prompt Trump’s removal from office and, possibly, his arrest. For two long years, the network was breathless. . . . Often, one can follow these attempts in real time. Jim Acosta, who seems to believe that his job is to act as the loyal opposition to President Trump, serves as a good example of the tendency, prone as he is to showing up at press conferences and emoting until he inspires a reaction about which he can subsequently complain on Twitter. Even more transparent a player than Acosta is Don Lemon, who is a ‘news anchor’ in the same sense as that in which Nick Saban is a referee.”

SNOWFALLS ARE NOW JUST A THING OF THE PAST: Debate Moderator Pushes Relocating Whole Cities from Climate Change.

Thursday’s Democratic debate hosted by PBS and Politico was a rather dull affair, but one question regarding climate change from Politico chief political correspondent Tim Alberta stood out as particularly nutty by any reasonable standard. In back-to-back questions, he presses candidates on their plans to pick up and relocate the entire population of certain cities.

Setting up the debate’s shift to climate alarmism, Alberta prefaced by noting that “many scientists say that even if the U.S. reduced its carbon footprint to zero by the year 2050, the damage will have been done, the climate change will have made certain places in the U.S. unlivable.”

Couldn’t we all just live in underground cities, as Bobby Kennedy predicted in 1968?

BOOM: MPs back Boris Johnson’s plan to leave EU on 31 January. “They voted 358 to 234 – a majority of 124 – in favour of the EU (Withdrawal Agreement) Bill, which now goes on to further scrutiny in Parliament.”

The Tories hold “only” 365 seats.

SEEN ON FACEBOOK: “Suddenly Democrats discover a new-found respect for ‘The Framers’…Those slave-owning, wealthy dead white men that they strove to de-legitimize since at least 2008.”
