I GOT SOME EMAILS REQUESTING A SOURCE FOR THE CHART BELOW, which I reprinted earlier today. Here it is.

NEW SOCIALIST “IT GIRL” CONTINUES TO PAY DIVIDENDS: AOC: America Should Not Have Authorized Military Force in Response to 9/11 Attacks.

Meanwhile, “Ocasio-Cortez sent out a fundraising email Thursday alleging that the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) was ‘coming after’ her and some of her colleagues…Ocasio-Cortez and Tlaib have stood by Omar throughout multiple allegations of anti-Semitism levied against her after her criticism of AIPAC and for alleging that some members of Congress have ‘dual loyalties’ to the United States and Israel.”

“Ocasio-Cortez is now raising money by saying AIPAC is coming for her and comparing the bipartisan consensus on the US-Israel relationship to the Iraq War,” Ben Jacobs of the Guardian tweets.

As Power Line’s John Hinderaker writes, “I think we have crossed a Rubicon of sorts. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib and the Congressional Black Caucus–which supported Omar unanimously, as best one can tell from news reports–are in the driver’s seat. Anti-Semitism is now accepted by the Democratic Party.”

SO I FINISHED CHRISTOPHER NUTTALL’S Cry Wolf. It’s an utterly fanciful concoction, in which a government run by out-of-touch oligarchs who maintain power via a corrupt and lazy media eventually faces a crisis brought about by a lack of credibility and popular support. Good thing nothing like that could happen in real life, in America.

THE ACLU’S SHAMEFUL ROLE IN THE CURRENT WAVE OF LEFTIST ANTISEMITISM: A Twitter thread.

I’m ambivalent about laws requiring state contractors to certify that their businesses don’t boycott Israel-related entities, but such certifications no more constitute a “loyalty oath” to Israel than certifications that a business uses union labor as required by state law are a “loyalty oath” to unions, or than certifications that a business does not discriminate against African Americans, gays, or women as required by state law are “loyalty oaths” to African Americans, gays, or women. The ACLU should be ashamed of itself for repeatedly suggesting otherwise.

NEO: Obama Paved The Way For Today’s Anti-White Rhetoric. “I well remember the moment he began to describe his white grandmother as a racist—it made me gasp when he said it. . . . It could have gone differently. Obama didn’t have to do this. But he chose to do this.”

PEGGY NOONAN: Get Ready for the Struggle Session.

The Chinese Catholic Margaret Chu, a medical-lab assistant, was dragged into the office of her labor camp in 1968 and made to answer invented charges. “Their real motive was once and again to force me to admit all my alleged crimes,” she wrote decades later. “ ‘I did not commit any crimes,’ I asserted.” She was accused again, roughed up. She denied her guilt again. “Immediately two people jumped on me and cut off half my hair.”

She was tortured, left in handcuffs for 100 days, and imprisoned for years. While being tortured she sometimes prayed for death so her suffering would stop.

The Cultural Revolution lasted roughly a dozen years and died with Mao in September 1976. In time a party congress denounced it as what it was: ruinous.

So I ask you to entertain an idea that has been on my mind. I don’t want to be overdramatic, but the spirit of the struggle session has returned and is here, in part because of the internet, in part because of the extremity of our politics, in part because more people are lonely. “Contention is better than loneliness,” as my people, the Irish, say, and they would know.

The air is full of accusation and humiliation. We have seen this spirit most famously on the campuses, where students protest harshly, sometimes violently, views they wish to suppress. Social media is full of swarming political and ideological mobs. In an interesting departure from democratic tradition, they don’t try to win the other side over. They only condemn and attempt to silence.

Read the whole thing, though Noonan is a bit late to the notion that the left’s overculture has an increasingly Maoist taint.

OPEN THREAD: Thread away.

“I NEED TO BE CAREFUL:” Texts Reveal Warner Bros. CEO Promoted Actress Amid Apparent Sexual Relationship, the Hollywood Reporter notes:

At 12:10 a.m. on Sept. 27, 2013, Australian billionaire James Packer texted a 21-year-old British actress named Charlotte Kirk.

Kirk had been laboring to establish herself in Hollywood with limited success, but now Packer, who was a partner with director Brett Ratner in the film production/finance company RatPac Entertainment, was saying she was about to catch a major break.

“I have the opportunity of a lifetime for u,” Packer wrote in a text message reviewed by The Hollywood Reporter. “Come to [the Hotel] Bel air now. U will never be able to pay me.” He promised an introduction to “the most important man u can meet.” Kirk quickly agreed to the rendezvous.

Packer did not identify the man by name, but based on hundreds of texts, emails and a draft settlement agreement obtained and reviewed by THR, the late-night introduction was to Warner Bros. chairman and CEO Kevin Tsujihara. That communication and subsequent encounters between Kirk and Tsujihara drew the powerful studio chief into what Kirk repeatedly referred to as a sexual relationship. And from there the relationship devolved into a protracted and increasingly desperate struggle among Tsujihara, Ratner and Packer to manage Kirk’s urgent demands to be cast in movies and TV series. At one point, Ratner accused Kirk of attempted “extortion.”

According to the text messages, Tsujihara said he would arrange for Kirk to meet with studio executives on Warner Bros. film and TV projects, a highly unorthodox effort for the chairman of a studio. On March 3, 2015, a frustrated Kirk texted him to say, “You’re very busy I know but when we were in that motel having sex u said u would help me and when u just ignore me like you’re doing now it makes me feel used. Are u going to help me like u said u would?” Tsujihara responded: “Sorry you feel that way. Richard will be reaching out to u tonight.” Other texts make clear that the reference was to Richard Brener, then president of production at Warners’ New Line label. (There was no indication that Brener was aware of any relationship between Kirk and Tsujihara. Brener, through a WarnerMedia rep, declined to comment.)

If the allegations prove out, they’re yet another reminder, as Kyle Smith noted last fall, that “Hollywood Is a Sex-Grooming Gang.”

REPS. OMAR, TLAIB AND CARSON SUPPORT HOUSE RESOLUTION INTRODUCED IN RESPONSE TO OMAR’s ANTISEMITISM: When the Congresswoman whose persistent antisemitic comments prompted the resolution, BDS supporter Tlaib, and Farrakahn buddy Carson all praise your resolution on antisemitism, I suspect you are doing it wrong.

PAUL MANAFORT SENTENCED TO UNDER FOUR YEARS IN PRISON: “Judge Ellis also went out of his way today to publicly proclaim that Manafort’s sentencing has nothing to do with ‘Russian collusion’ or any other Democrat fever dream. The judge has been forceful on that aspect for a while, trying to ensure that no false narratives emanate from his court room…Manafort is not totally off the hook though. He’s facing another sentencing next week in Washington D.C. for two charges of conspiracy, each carrying up to five years. I expect the book to be thrown at him in that one.”
