FLORIDA TRANS: “On Wednesday, Mia Williams, a 32-year-old who was born male but identifies as female, walked into a Taco Bell, doused a woman with gasoline and then set them [sic] on fire, Tallahassee police said.”

Question asked in the comments at the Miami Herald: “Who proofed this grammatical abomination?”

UPDATE: The Herald has changed the headline on the story and removed the above quoted “them,” after being called out on Twitter. As spotted on Twitter by the satiric* “Titania McGrath:”

* As the Herald’s first headline illustrates, these days, who can tell?

YOUR DAILY TREACHER: Ilhan Omar Goes from Wrecking Homes to Guaranteeing ‘Homes for All.’

Housing crash? What’s that?

See, here’s how it works: Homelessness is bad. Everybody agrees on that, right? So that means giving people free housing is good. All you need to do is make it illegal for a person to not have a place to live. Presto! And after that, it’s just a matter of, y’know… building stuff. Whatever. That part’s easy. Hey, if we can put a man on the moon, we can build a few houses and maintain them for a person’s entire lifespan without them having to pay for any of it, right?

Oh, what’s that you’re saying? You want people to be homeless? Well, isn’t that nice. Why are you a racist?

Don’t worry, it should all be fine this time around.

YES. NEXT QUESTION? Is California’s governor really this clueless about high gas prices and power outages?

Newsom is apparently unaware that the first $1.07 of every gallon comes from California’s fuel taxes and standards, which are the worst in the nation. Fix that, and the governor could slice his constituents’ fuel budget by a quarter.

But that won’t do – the workers actually fueling his state must be to blame.

Newsom has no reason to point fingers. His own energy commission admitted that it “does not have any evidence that gasoline retailers fixed prices or engaged in false advertising.” The commission’s report is located a few lines below their website’s giant heading, “leading the state to a 100% clean energy future.”

California consumers are watching that “clean-energy future” turn into a high-priced present.

Fuel prices crossed the five-dollar threshold due to West Coast refinery outages and instability in Saudi Arabia. As soon as those were resolved, the prices dropped; any high schooler understands supply and demand. If more oil was produced in-state, the price would fall even further.

But Newsom opposes all that.

In July, he fired his top oil and gas regulator for attempting to increase the energy supply by issuing more permits for drilling and fracking.

“I am very angry about the fact that they signed off on this many permits, period,” Newsom said at the time. Now, three months later, he blames the energy companies for not providing cheaper fuel. Perhaps the governor should buy a mirror.

The price at the pump isn’t the only energy crisis enraging the governor.

I love the Babylon Bee’s headline that “Progressive Utopia Of California Becomes First State To Eliminate Electricity Entirely.” I just hope that Newsom is capable of understanding that it’s satire, and not a recommendation for good governance.

IT’S COME TO THIS: “Several members of the Golden State Warriors said they are still going through sticker shock while making the transition from Oracle Arena in Oakland to the new Chase Center in San Francisco:”

Connor Letourneau of San Francisco Chronicle provided details from the experiences of guard Jacob Evans ($1.9 million salary this season, per Spotrac) and center Kevon Looney ($4.5 million), as well as forward Alfonzo McKinnie ($1.6 million), who was recently waived by the Dubs and signed by the Cleveland Cavaliers.

“You hear about the crazy prices out here,” Evans said after calculating he’ll pay around $7,900 in monthly housing costs. “But until you actually see those numbers add up on paper, it doesn’t feel real.”

The housing price of liberalism” doesn’t come cheap.

UNEXPECTEDLY: MSNBC Hides Bizarre Democratic Sex Scandal.

MSNBC hosts used to be fascinated with [Katie] Hill. This year alone, she appeared on MTP Daily with Chuck Todd (January 21), The 11th Hour with Brian Williams (February 5), Hardball with Chris Matthews (May 14), and All In with Chris Hayes (May 22). Suddenly, however, MSNBC journalists seem to have lost interest.

Last summer, while filling in for MTP Daily host Chuck Todd, MSNBC’s Chris Jansing promoted a website called “Swing Left,” designed to help “connect Democrats who live in…blue districts with nearby purple districts where they can make a difference and try to flip control of the House.” Jansing actually went to a canvassing event for Hill in California’s 25th Congressional District; where she spoke to volunteers working on behalf of the then-Congressional candidate. An excited Jansing celebrated the fact that Hill received a check for $164,297.14 during the course of her report.

While CNN’s on-air talent also came across as fangirls for Hill, at least they had the integrity to report on the scandal. It looks like when it comes to scandals involving Democrats, for MSNBC, silence is golden.

Just think of NBC as Democratic Party operatives with Chyrons, and it all makes sense.

Earlier: Katie Hill’s scandal is catnip for the London Daily Mail.

UPDATE: CNN, MSNBC largely ignore Dem Rep. Katie Hill during prime time, 2 nights in a row.

NEW SOCIALIST “IT GIRL” CONTINUES TO PAY DIVIDENDS: AOC retweets Jane Fonda arrest video one day after slamming GOP for ‘asking’ to be arrested.

What a difference 24 hours can make.

Just one day after Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez criticized Republicans for requesting to be arrested for entering a closed-door Trump impeachment inquiry deposition this week, the far-left New York Democrat retweeted a video showing Hollywood stars Jane Fonda and Ted Danson being arrested at a climate protest Friday.

As Iowahawk tweets, “Gotta say it’s pretty impressive to learn that two senior citizens must have walked and/or biked across the entire continent.”

AND THE HITS JUST KEEP ON COMING: Another House Democrat Under Investigation For Alleged Sex Scandal.

The House Ethics Committee announced this week that it has started an investigation into Democratic freshman Delegate Michael F. Q. San Nicolas of Guam, a non-voting member of the House of Representatives, over allegations that he had a sexual relationship with a congressional staff member.

“The Committee is aware of public allegations that Delegate Michael F. Q. San Nicolas may have engaged in a sexual relationship with an individual on his congressional staff, converted campaign funds to personal use, and/or accepted improper or excessive campaign contributions,” the committee said in a statement. “The Committee, pursuant to Committee Rule 18(a), has begun an investigation and will gather additional information regarding the allegations.”

No word yet on the role that Hank Johnson, the Democrats’ expert on all things Guam will play in the investigation.

WE’VE DESCENDED INTO SOME SORT OF BIZARRE HELL-WORLD IN WHICH ANDREW SULLIVAN IS A VOICE OF SANITY: “Warren is surging, but she is, I fear — yes, I’ll say it — unelectable. I may be wrong, but by pledging to rip everyone off their current private health insurance, it certainly seems like she has thrown away the core advantage of her side — health security. By floating the notion in the CNN forum that her future Secretary of Education would have to be approved by a transgender 9-year-old boy, she’s placing herself firmly inside a cultural revolution most Americans are deeply uncomfortable with…For what it’s worth, I suspect Warren will win the nomination and dutifully lose the election just like Mondale, Dukakis, Gore, Kerry, and the second Clinton. She has that quintessential perfume of smug, well-meaning, mediocre doom that Democrats simply cannot resist.”

BECAUSE SUFFERING ISN’T A SIDE EFFECT, IT’S A GOAL: Why Do Environmentalists Seem Determined To Torment, Rather Than Convince? “From plastic bag bans to plastic straw bans to bans on shampoo bottles in hotels, California is adopting supposedly environmental policies that won’t save the environment but will piss off residents.”
