SO HE’S GOT THAT GOING FOR HIM, WHICH IS NICE. Uh-Oh: The Dalai Lama Likes Hot Chicks.

I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of “Free Tibet” bumper stickers suddenly cried out in terror as they were scraped off of Subaru Outbacks.

I AM INTRIGUED BY YOUR IDEAS, AND WISH TO SUBSCRIBE TO YOUR NEWSLETTER: ‘You’re not the water, you’re the faucet!’ Thread of ‘old tweets’ from Marianne Williamson is awesomely out there.

To be fair, it’s great to see the Yoko Ono wing of the Democratic Party finally have some representation at the presidential debates.

And she’s Slate approved! “We were ready for the Summer of Marianne. It’s now here.”

To be fair, the former publishers of the Washington Post have never minded plenty of white light, provided it’s beaming in from the left.

ANALYSIS: TRUE. The Struggle for Gay Rights Is Over: For those born into a form of adversity, sometimes the hardest thing to do is admitting that they’ve won.

Honestly, it’s worse than that. The transition from bullied to bullies was fast and dramatic; within days after Obergefell they were going after heretics. As a longtime gay-rights supporter, it really soured me. And it appears to have soured a lot of young people.

Andrew Sullivan has thoughts.

OPEN THREAD: Don’t waste this opportunity.

FLASHBACK: HOW TO SOLVE THE PLASTIC CRISIS:

This is a crisis made — and growing worse — throughout developing Asia.

Just eight countries in the region are responsible for about 63 percent of total plastic waste flowing into the oceans. Little of that junk has been exported by rich economies. Instead, it’s almost solely generated by Asia’s newly minted consumer classes, the vast majority of whom lack access to garbage collection, modern landfills and incineration. Any progress in reducing ocean plastic will have to start with them.

Bans on plastic straws in America are just a power move by local greens, not a serious response.

UGH: Police: Missing University of Utah student Mackenzie Lueck is dead; man charged with murder. “The suspect, identified as 31-year-old Ayoola Ajayi, was taken into custody Friday morning after an investigation uncovered a fresh dig area, charred female human tissue and items belonging to the missing student in the backyard of his Salt Lake City home, police said. His neighbors, they added, had informed detectives they noticed Ajayi burning something with the help of gasoline around June 17, when Lueck was last seen. . . . Lueck, 23, disappeared after meeting an unknown individual around 3 a.m. on June 17 near a park in Salt Lake City after being dropped off by a Lyft driver, according to police. Brown said Ayaji was the last person Lueck was communicating with before her disappearance and that phone records indicated they were both in the area around 3 a.m.”

It gets creepier: “The suspect recently expressed a desire to build a secret, soundproofed room with hooks on its walls in the basement of his home, a contractor revealed to Fox News on Friday.”
