OPEN THREAD: Tomorrow is Mother’s Day. Your assignment is to write a haiku about your mother.

UPDATE: Who knew so many InstaPundit readers were poets? You can read my mom-haiku here.

MORE LIKE THIS, PLEASE: Idaho Repeals Its Regulatory Code. “Something rather remarkable just happened in Idaho. The state legislature opted to—in essence—repeal the entire state regulatory code. . . . As a result, come July 1, some 8,200 pages of regulations containing 736 chapters of state rules will expire. Any rules the governor opts to keep will have to be implemented as emergency regulations, and the legislature will consider them anew when it returns next January.”

BAZINGA!

MEMORY HOLED: The Media’s Sudden Disinterest in the Denver STEM School Shooting Proves Greater Interests In Agendas than You.

Facebook posts from concerned people dotted the social media site and Twitter was ablaze with anti-gun rhetoric once again.

And then it all suddenly went silent.

Now, the media seems far less interested in the shooting. An odd turnaround for the media who take every opportunity to hammer home the idea that guns are the problem in this nation, not something else. Why? It’s because the identity of the shooters was released, and it doesn’t fall in line with any of the approved columns for a media-based attack.

They found that one of the shooters is gay and another is transgendered and biologically female, as NBC reported in the update about her. Even NBC buried these facts in their own report about it, choosing instead to call the gay shooter a “bully” instead of highlighting their identities and backgrounds first…One of the shooters also expressed his hatred for Christians according to Heavy, which is also unfitting for reports as Christians are always the bad guys in the story.

As Jim Treacher has said:

SUPERSTAR RAPPER DRAKE, WHO RAILS AGAINST CLIMATE CHANGE, BUYS MASSIVE PRIVATE BOEING 767: “The private jet ownership is despite his efforts to campaign against climate change in his songs. With song lyrics that include: ‘[They’re] talkin’ bout how the weather’s changing / the ice is melting / like the world is ending,’ you would think he would try to live a low carbon lifestyle, but alas.”

SAY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO AMERICA’S FIRST TRANSCONTINENTAL RAILROAD: “Sure, the impending 50th anniversary of man’s first footsteps on another world represents an epic moment in human achievement. But from a more practical perspective, events that transpired a century prior to the 1969 Apollo 11 mission likely had a bigger impact on America as we know it.”

THE 21ST CENTURY ISN’T TURNING OUT AS I’D HOPED: CDC: Hepatitis A infections up 300 percent in last three years. “Although 2016 saw two outbreaks of hepatitis A caused by contaminated food, the main culprit of outbreaks has been the living conditions of drug addicts and the homeless, researchers say.”

PETE BUTTIGIEG RESPONDS TO TRUMP “ALFRED E. NEUMAN” INSULT: “I HAD TO GOOGLE THAT.”

2020 Democratic hopeful Pete Buttigieg, the mayor of South Bend, Indiana, said “I’ll be honest, I had to Google that, I guess it’s a generational thing” after President Trump referred to him as Alfred E. Neuman. The gap-toothed fictional Alfred E. Neuman graced the cover of MAD magazine starting in the 1950s, and Buttigieg was born in 1982.

“Alfred E. Neuman cannot become president of the United States,” Mr. Trump told Politico in an interview published Friday.

Meanwhile, Trump’s New Nickname For Biden? ‘SleepyCreepy Joe.’

As Ann Althouse recently wrote, “You can see what’s coming when the Democrats finally make their choice and [Trump] has his target and he can finally ‘start this thing.'”
