CNN ANALYST JEFFREY TOOBIN SAYS HE REGRETS TALKING ABOUT CLINTON EMAILS, BLAMES IT FOR HER 2016 ELECTION LOSS:

CNN’s chief legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin said Monday that he regrets covering the Hillary Clinton email scandal as much as he did, adding that she “very likely lost the election because of” how much the media covered it.

“This is also a story about the news media, about how much time we spent on that, and that’s something that I have felt a great deal of personal responsibility for,” Toobin said on CNN’s “New Day” Monday. “I talked about the e-mails here at CNN, I wrote about it in The New Yorker, and I think I paid too much attention to them and I regret that.”

Just think of the media as Democratic Party operatives with Chyrons, and it all makes sense. Or as a field ops manager at CNN was caught on tape by James O’Keefe saying, “We’re totally left-leaning…(but) we don’t want to admit it.”

TULSI GABBARD: A GANDHI IN LYCRA. A spiritual politician for an age of confusion.

Gabbard isn’t a left- or right-wing politician. She is a spiritual revolutionary, defying the categories of material and contractual politics –– overcoming them, as Blavatsky and Nietzsche had it. Her positions fit no party template because they are what Peter Viereck called ‘metapolitics’. She wishes to overcome the intolerable binaries and compromises that have, as she rightly observes, gummed up the works of government and reduced swathes of the public to destitution, dependency and desperation. Being a modern Hawaiian rather than a 19th-century Bavarian, the voice of her inner authoritarian is as soft as the lining of her wetsuit. Still, it speaks quite clearly.

Like Gandhi and George Harrison, who were also promoted beyond their competence, Gabbard is influenced by a strange medley of self-help and pop-Hinduism. Hence Gandhi’s George Bernard Shaw routine in a dhoti, or George Harrison’s deeply spiritual objections to capital gains in ‘Taxman’. Hence too the paradoxes of Gabbard the soldier-pacifist who supports our troops but dog-whistles about the ‘war machine’; who smilingly shares apocalyptic visions of government failure and corruption from her lush Hawaiian garden; and who supports human rights but never says a harsh word about Bashar al-Assad.

I’m so old, I can remember when Marianne Williamson had the lock on leftist New Age mysticism during this campaign cycle.

LIVING HISTORY: Researchers find second warship from WWII Battle of Midway.

A crew of deep-sea explorers and historians looking for lost World War II warships have found a second Japanese aircraft carrier that went down in the historic Battle of Midway.

Vulcan Inc.’s director of undersea operations Rob Kraft and Naval History and Heritage Command historian Frank Thompson reviewed high frequency sonar images of the warship Sunday and say that its dimensions and location mean it has to be the carrier Akagi.

The Akagi was found in the Papahanaumokuakea Marine National Monument resting in nearly 18,000 feet (5,490 meters) of water more than 1,300 miles (2,090 kilometers) northwest of Pearl Harbor.

The researchers used an autonomous underwater vehicle, or AUV, equipped with sonar to find the ship. The vehicle had been out overnight collecting data, and the image of a warship appeared in the first set of readings Sunday morning.

Akagi was scuttled by Japanese destroyers on the morning of June 5, 1942, after being severely damaged the day before. She was done in by a single bomb dropped by SBD Dauntless pilot Lieutenant Richard Halsey Best, flying from the USS Enterprise.

LONGEVITY: Study reveals how collapse of protein processes is driver of aging and death. “Cells undergo natural aging and death, processes that impact a multitude of cellular factors. A new Stony Brook University-led study, to be published in PNAS, provides a biophysical model that reveals how damage accumulates in the shapes of cellular proteins with age and is a trigger to death. The finding opens a door to a better understanding of the molecular origins of age-related neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease, which all entail protein damage. Young cells are kept healthy by the positive processes of protein synthesis, degradation, and keeping proteins properly folded (called chaperoning). As cells age, negative processes increase, reducing proteins’ ability to fold. One of these negative processes is oxidative damage, which the research team focuses on in the model. Once negative processes exceed positive ones, protein misfolding becomes rampant and cell death occurs.”

CLARITY: The Deep State Comes Out Of The Shadows.

What, exactly, are these career State Department bureaucrats angry about?

They’re mad that several of them “were demoted or sidelined following attacks by the conservative media.”

They complain about what they see as Trump’s “dangerous brand of diplomatic malpractice.”

They’re upset that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo didn’t publicly support Marie Yavonovitch after Trump removed her from her post as U.S. ambassador to Ukraine, and that Pompeo “is willing to sell out the department to keep favor with Trump.”

They’re also enraged that Pompeo gave a speech to the American Association of Christian Counselors and talked openly about the importance of his faith. That, according to Politico, “troubled many diplomats.”

William Burns, deputy secretary of State under President Barack Obama, declared in an article in Foreign Affairs said to “turned heads” in Washington that Trump’s treatment of State Department officials was akin to Sen. Joseph McCarthy’s “savage campaign against ‘disloyalty’ in the State Department.”

Burns conveniently overlooks the fact that there were communists in the State Department. And Pompeo remarked that he appeared to be auditioning to be Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s secretary of state.”

The AP story is more of the same. Diplomats are fuming because of Trump’s push to cut budgets and staff, and this is “a moment of catharsis.”

It’s all about iron rice bowls — the Constitution, rule of law, and political tradition be damned.

These are the same people, as Glenn has pointed out, shrieking that Trump is the one ignoring the constitution, rule of law, and political tradition.

HOUSE GOP TO SEEK SCHIFF CENSURE VOTE TODAY: Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Az.) will seek a vote later today on his resolution censuring House Select Committee on Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) for a variety of egregious sins, not the least of which being his self-described “fable” about the Trump Ukraine call. Democrats will waste no time tabling the motion, but the Republicans will have made a point, maybe.

THE CONTINUATION OF FAILED POLITICS BY OTHER MEANS: 2020: The Left Goes to War.

Antifa’s belligerence is happening during good times with the economy humming and with them having full control of the press and social media. They are going to absolutely freak out at the prospect of four more years of a president they’ve been assured for four years wouldn’t even finish his first term.

Of course, the Democrats and the media will do all they can to foment riot — beginning the morning after the election. Expect talking heads and politicos to flood the airwaves 24/7 with a message to the world that refusing to seat Trump for a second term is not only bravery in motion, but democracy in action because it’s the “Will of the People.”

They are delusional now — after losing they will be even more so.

The past is prologue; they clearly believe that screaming loud enough and stamping their feet hard enough will give them the power to negate the election. They also believe they will accomplish this without any opposition. When it doesn’t happen as they envision, they will quickly transition from beating the weak to spilling blood.

As Lazarus Long advised: Keep your powder dry — and keep lots of powder.

NEW SOCIALIST “IT GIRL” CONTINUES TO PAY DIVIDENDS: Bernie Made Me ‘Recognize My Inherent Value as a Human Being.’

“Make no mistake: This is a religious statement applied to government,” Tyler O’Neil responds. “AOC was granting to government something that never should be granted to human beings. She was effectively saying that the state determines a person’s dignity.”

Nietzsche may have killed God for the left, but man is hardwired to believe in something. Hence the modern left’s collection of intertwined substitute religions.
