YOU’RE GONNA NEED A BIGGER BLOG: Democratic Presidential Clown Car Update for September 9, 2019. “Democrats want to ban cheeseburgers, Biden’s eye fills with blood, the third debates loom, and Williamson is shocked to find out that leftist activists are mean liars.”

PETER WEHNER IS NOT WELL. I know this because I just received yet another email “From the desk of Peter Wehner,” telling me that “Trump Is Not Well.” This follows up on such Peter Wehner emails as “Trump’s Words Are Poison,” “Trump’s Sinister Assault on Truth,” and “Trump Is Betting That Anger Can Still Be Power.”

Even Max Boot has noticed that despite his writing the same column over and over again, the 2016 election still stands. For Wehner, it’s still 2016, when scary fantasies about Trump’s mental condition were popular, but then, as Adrian Vermeule has noticed, the liberal bourgeois leadership worldwide seems unable to cope psychologically with any political defeat.

VICTOR DAVIS HANSON: Biden or Bust?

KAROL MARKOWICZ: Save us from the pointless burdens of the TSA.

The Transportation Security Administration was established in the wake of 9/11, when Congress passed the Aviation and Transportation Security Act. Before that, private security agencies hired by the airlines handled security at the airports.

After the attacks, people demanded the government “do something” — and “something” is exactly what it did: It took over the role of airport security and bloated it to its current size, with more than 50,000 employees and a budget of more than $7 billion.

It’s now fully 18 years after 9/11. Perhaps it’s time to rethink our airport-security system and realize that what we implemented in our most fearful moments no longer serves us well.

For one thing, it doesn’t seem to work.

Well, government.

SO FELLOW LAWPROF KEN ANDERSON WRITES ABOUT ROGER SIMON’S THE GOAT:

I was thinking about you over the weekend, because I bought Roger Simon’s new book on Amazon and started reading on Kindle. It’s great! TBH, I originally bought it as a gesture of solidarity – respect, really, for a writer I admire, but not really thinking that I’d enjoy his fiction. Well, I was wrong – it’s very funny and extremely well-observed. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised, judging by Mr. Simon’s other writing, which is also shrewdly observed. But I don’t read or like very much contemporary fiction, and I figured this would fall into that category – but I was seriously wrong. I’m most of the way through and enjoying The Goat immensely. (I will post this to Amazon and Goodreads, but feel free to pass along to Mr. Simon or Instapundit readers. I’m not an easy sell when it comes to contemporary novels, but this grabbed me.)

My experience was the same.

NO, THE FIRST CHRISTIANS WERE NOT SOCIALISTS: No matter what you were taught in college, or in (a liberal Protestant or liberationist Catholic) church, the claim the early believers were socialists simply doesn’t square with the facts, according to Sean McDowell. And while we’re at it, they didn’t borrow that resurrection stuff about Jesus from popular pagan myths of the day either, argues Mary Jo Sharp.

WOW: The Trayvon Hoax That Divided America Is About to Be Exposed.

Having written a book on the 2012 shooting death of Trayvon Martin — If I Had a Son– I have been following Gilbert’s progress with interest. In fact, I introduced Gilbert to George Zimmerman, the man who shot Martin. Those who have followed the case know that not since the Scottsboro boys has any ordinary citizen endured the kind of malicious and conspicuously false reporting Zimmerman has. My hope was that Gilbert would set the record straight.

Gilbert has done that and more. In the course of his relentless research into the shooting and subsequent trial, I can say without risk of overstatement that he has unearthed a legal fraud the likes of which I know no parallel. Not only has Gilbert discovered it, but he has also proved it six ways from Sunday, including DNA and handwriting analysis.

Read the whole thing.
