USA TODAY/GANNETT bought out by Gatehouse. People on Facebook are asking what this means for me, and the answer is probably nothing, but who knows?

GREAT MOMENTS IN AMNESIA: For Marianne Williamson and Donald Trump, religion is all about themselves.

Curiously, CTL-F on the Washington Post article does not bring up the name of the fringe presidential candidate from 2008 who, when asked by a major newspaper’s religious columnist, “What is sin?”, narcissistically replied, “Being out of alignment with my values,” and whose tautological campaign slogan was “we are the ones we have been waiting for.”

THE LEFT RESPONDS TO MASS SHOOTINGS WITH NASTY ATTACKS ON DANA LOESCH, BECAUSE THEY’RE TRASH. RESPONSE: Dana Loesch Is A Class Act. “If you pay close attention and look past the easy storylines, you’ll notice an insane amount of vitriolic hate poured out at the same few right-wing figures every time a tragedy occurs. Loesch is the Left’s favorite pro-gun pundit to hate, and the unhinged attacks she receives online are deeply disturbing. Yet the graceful way Loesch handles such vicious personal attacks is the epitome of class.”

FAKE NEWS: These Two Shootings Defy Traditional Political Stereotyping. The Media Is Trying to Squeeze Them In.

The shooter in Ohio is an Elizabeth Warren fan, which means the media will focus far more on the El Paso shooter. But the El Paso shooter, who is very anti-immigration and believes the country is under invasion, also has a significant degree of concern about ecology and the environment. Neither of them fit within standard boxes of politics.

Unfortunately, the media is so used to putting everything in R and D boxes and defaulting to blame Trump stories that reporters are trying to force the stories into standard boxes and are willing to discard or downplay inconvenient facts that prevent standard narrative building.

This is a bad thing for them to do because it makes it way easier to amplify claims of bias against the media. Likewise, it gives both sides partisan talking points to avoid dealing with the larger issues involved.

Perhaps the largest issue is just what a lousy press we have.

HMM: We Found Out Why BMW Charges $80 a Year for Apple CarPlay. “This after-sales support is a relatively new problem that automakers are facing. As cars become more and more intertwined with electronics and software, the interactions and potential for errors increase exponentially. This is less of a problem for a company like Apple, which sells a phone for hundreds of dollars that gets replaced after a couple of years. Automakers like BMW, on the other hand, are expected to build a car that works just like the day it rolled off the showroom floor for hundreds of thousands of miles in all kinds of conditions.”

IT’S COME TO THIS: “McDonald’s has admitted that its new paper straws, rolled out last year to help ‘protect the environment,’ can’t be recycled — unlike the plastic versions they replaced.”

As Steve warned in April of 2015, “McDonald’s is almost certainly doomed. Or at the very least, [Steve] Easterbrook is the wrong guy to head up the burger chain — any burger chain, for that matter. To understand why I’ve come to this conclusion, read the very next line from the story: Easterbrook plans to unveil his plan for turning McDonald’s into a ‘modern, progressive burger company’ on May 4.”

ANALYSIS: TRUE. Liberals have good reason to ditch Obama’s lousy legacy.

This fissure within the Democratic Party is directly tied to Obama’s legacy. The former president inflamed progressives, empowered and normalized them, but never quite delivered on his lofty promises of change. Even as Obama set the stage for his party’s hard-left shift, he was forced — to his endless frustration — to live within the realities of a representative republic.

Even recently, Obama — just like the progressives running against his legacy — praised Medicare for All as a “good new idea,” despite the fact that its success would mean the repeal of his signature achievement, ObamaCare.

If Obama doesn’t believe in his legacy, why should his ideological progeny cling to it?

The Montagnards always turn on the Girondists, to coin an Instaphrase. But it wasn’t that long ago that Obama, now a Girondist in comparison, was one of the Montagnards.
