EVEN IF YOU’RE NOT OLD ENOUGH TO REMEMBER TOM HAYDEN: You should sit down with Bradley Birzer’s excellent survey in The Imaginative Conservative of the many reasons why the political correctness destroying the American political consensus is very much the prime legacy of Hayden and the New Left of the 1960s.

THIS CAN’T MAKE KAMALA HAPPY: Willie Brown says no 2020 Democrat can beat Trump after debates. Quoth Brown: “Harris got all the attention for playing prosecutor in chief, but her case against former Vice President Joe Biden boiled down in some ways to a ringing call for forced school busing. It won’t be too hard for Trump to knock that one out of the park in 2020.”

THE NEW CIVILITY:

“Let us attack you a little or we’ll murder you in front of your children” seems to be A-OK with Twitter’s Trust and Safety Council.

ANALYSIS: TRUE. If You Don’t Stand Up for Andy Ngo, You Could Be Next. “What you just saw was a pack of privileged white dudes in masks beating up a smaller guy who’s a minority (Ngo is Vietnamese-American) and a member of the LGBTQ community (he’s gay). These cowards punched him and threw things at him in the middle of the street, in broad daylight, because they knew the cops wouldn’t stop them. It might as well be Alabama in the ’50s. The only difference between Antifa and the Klan is fashion.”

Plus: “Jim Acosta gets a microphone taken away by a female White House aide, and they make a martyr of him. Andy Ngo gets beaten up by a mob of leftists, and they shrug. It all depends on how useful you are to the #Resistance. You will say the things you’re supposed to say, or you’re on your own.”

Remember, the press has taken sides here. View them accordingly.

Meanwhile, Harmeet Dhillon is on the case: Lawyer For Journalist Beaten During Portland Riot Posts Brutal Message To Antifa.

PUNCH BACK TWICE AS HARD (FIGURATIVELY): Ted Cruz seeks federal action against Portland mayor after antifa attacks journalist. “To federal law enforcement: investigate & bring legal action against a Mayor who has, for political reasons, ordered his police officers to let citizens be attacked by domestic terrorists.”

Plus: “U.S. Ambassador to Germany Richard Grenell, who like Mr. Ngo is openly gay, said he had asked the Justice Department to investigate the incident, tweeting, ‘This is outrageous. Where was Portland Mayor? @tedwheeler’.”

Ngo isn’t the right kind of gay, and therefore deserves whatever he gets.

FALSELY ACCUSED: Title IX investigation clears Michigan State basketball players of rape. “The attorney for one of the accused players says the fact that the investigation found his client not culpable demonstrates how unbelievable Kowalski’s story was: ‘The burden of proof is so low in these kind of cases for a complainant to prevail,’ he said. ‘They just have to believe one side a little more than the other side. They couldn’t even meet that low threshold.'”

LAST REFUGE SEES ‘SPANK ME AND HOW’ AS DEBATE WINNER: Read this and you won’t have to read anything else about the first two Democratic presidential debates. And the accompanying illustration will give you a hearty chuckle or three, too.

LIZ SHELD’S MORNING BRIEF: Police Allow Antifa to Beat Up, ‘Milkshake’ Targeted Journalist. “This story really puts the squealing by “journalists” on the left, like Brian Stelter or Jim Acosta, in context when Trump calls them “fake news.” Boohoo. Have any of the corporate media or television jesters been beaten, hit with a “milkshake” comprised of quick-setting cement, and gone to the hospital with a brain bleed?”

RICHARD FERNANDEZ: By Any Means Necessary: It Won’t Stop with Andy Ngo. “Perhaps the magnitude of Hillary’s 2016 loss is only now becoming apparent. Clinton didn’t just lose the White House, she also lost the Democratic center to the radical ornaments. The diminution of Brooks, Stevens, Kristof, and even Biden are the consequence of that defeat. The radicals who once served the useful purpose of putting fear into the other side are taking center stage. It’s not surprising that the French Terror began with the purge of the moderates and the urgency of virtue. As Robespierre put it, virtuous men have no choice but to employ any means necessary.”

WHOA: New White House press secretary roughed up in scuffle with North Korean guards.

Tensions escalated after the guards tried to prevent U.S. reporters from entering a room inside the Freedom House in South Korea as Trump and Kim began their meeting, according to The Guardian.

White House and foreign affairs correspondents tweeted about the encounter, saying Grisham got into a struggle with North Korean guards to ensure reporters had access to the meeting.

If Josh Ernest had defended the press this way, it would be the front-page story everywhere.
