WHAT DID YOU EXPECT FROM ABC, THE HOUSE OF STEPHANOPOULOS? “Advocates raise concerns for future of women, LGBTQ candidates after Rep. Katie Hill’s resignation.” Note the disparity between the headline of this ABC article and the reason why Hill resigned:

She resigned amid allegations of a relationship with a campaign staffer, for which she apologized, and with a congressional staffer, which she has denied and which was under investigation by the House Ethics Committee. A relationship with a congressional staffer would be a violation under a new rule put in place in the wake of the #MeToo movement.

LOOKS LIKE CAPITAL RESEARCH CENTER’S (CRC) “NO SAFE SPACES” IS A HIT: The documentary film starring Adam Carolla and Dennis Prager “opened in its first theater this past Friday in Phoenix, AZ, and shot to near record-breaking box office. DeadlineThe Hollywood ReporterIndiewire, and Fox News covered the film’s gross of $45,000 on only one screen, becoming the second-largest opening weekend at the box office on a single screen for a documentary of all time, behind only Michael Moore’s Sicko released in 2007,” according to CRC.

Kudos to CRC’s Scott Walter, Kristen Eastlick and Joseph Klein for the success of their “Dangerous Documentaries” productions, which require a tremendous amount of creativity, persistence and managerial skills to produce.

PAST PERFORMANCE IS NO GUARANTEE OF FUTURE RESULTS:

As the Media Research Center reported in 2009, “At President Obama’s 100-day press conference on Wednesday night, White House correspondent Jeff Zeleny [then with the New York Times, now with CNN] became a mini-celebrity — or a national laughingstock — for asking President Obama…‘During these first 100 days, what has surprised you the most about this office, enchanted you the most about serving in this office, humbled you the most and troubled you the most?’ This is not a question one would associate with a Gray Lady, a prestigious daily. It sounds more like an question from Access Hollywood.”

THIS JUST IN: ‘Sexual liberation was a complete con:’ She became infamous for her taboo-busting nude scenes. But Helen Mirren reveals why she felt objectified, embarrassed and exploited in every one of them.

Flashback: Hugh Hefner, Gangsta Rap & the Emerging Moral Majority: “Slowly, however, the elite of our culture seem to be drifting toward a new, far-more jaundiced and suspicious view of popular culture from the 1960s to the 1990s.” And other related links regarding the people who brought you the ‘60s and ‘70s.

A BIG FIRST AMENDMENT WIN IN MISSOURI: It took five years, but unpaid volunteer Ron Calzone’s right to express his views on public policy issues to Show Me state officials without first filing as a lobbyist was finally upheld. Institute for Free Speech explains why you should be elated by this even if you don’t live in Missouri.

QUESTION ASKED: “Are there really 20 Republican senators who would commit political suicide in order to please Chuck Schumer, Nancy Pelosi, and Adam Schiff?” Roger Kimball is Doing the Impeachment Math.

JANE FONDA MORPHED INTO PAULINE KAEL SO SLOWLY, I HARDLY EVEN NOTICED: Jane Fonda of protest critics: “Those people don’t matter.”

Fonda is now a month into her four-month commitment to live in Washington, D.C. and protest every Friday on the steps of Capitol Hill over climate change. The protests are called Fire Drill Fridays and it’s an American version of 16 year old Greta Thunberg’s Friday protests. She’s an actress, you know, and she performs weekly. She brings along her Hollywood pals for support and added star power to garner attention.

Hanoi Jane, it turns out, has no respect for those of us who are calling her out for being just another rich and bored celebrity looking to create some buzz. It’s true she has a long history of protesting (and betraying her country along the way in her most famous protest in Vietnam) but a random four-month commitment to protesting climate change hardly screams “take me seriously”, does it? Also, she says we aren’t “good people” for doubting her motives.

As Pauline Kael, the New Yorker’s film critic was quoted after the 1972 election, “I live in a rather special world. I only know one person who voted for Nixon. Where they are I don’t know. They’re outside my ken. But sometimes when I’m in a theater I can feel them.”

But think of the carbon footprint of dry cleaning the 81 year old actress’s presumably massive existing wardrobe!

IT WOULD TAKE A HEART OF STONE NOT TO LAUGH: “Greta Thunberg has traveled halfway to Chile, but will need to turn back to make the COP25 summit after it was moved to Spain. The activist, who refuses to fly due to high levels of emissions from air travel, has put out a transportation plea on Twitter.”

As Twitchy notes, “What the carbon footprint of her failed trip? We already know that her original trip involved flying crew members all over the place to reposition the yacht. And now this?… And this, campers, is why we don’t let 16-year-olds set public policy.”

AN OLDY BUT A GOODY: So the memorial service for Helen’s mother is this afternoon, and last night we had a lot of family over. I had a bunch of people to feed and not much time, so I made the Pasta with Tomato, Basil and Chevre sauce. Easy, delicious, and since we’re normally low-carb it even felt slightly sinful.
