PC CLAIMS ANOTHER VICTIM, THIS TIME AT COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY: Andrei Serban, an award-winning film director and a professor at Columbia University, left his tenured position because he can no longer abide the multiplying signs of the school’s swing to communism.

Serban fled his Romanian homeland when it was under the Soviet version of communism, so the man knows evil when he sees it. Matthew Vadum has the details at The Epoch Times. When was the last time you recall a tenured professor leaving for any reason other than moving to a more prestigious campus or going to that great lecture hall in the sky?

DON CHERRY’S IMMIGRANT COMMENTS AND CANADA’S HIGHLY SELECTIVE CULTURE OF FORGIVENESS: “The driving spirit of most current criminal justice reform is that we’re all more than the worst thing that we have done. And earlier this fall, the Canadian public decided that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s multiple occasions of wearing blackface can be forgiven. But apparently that mercy is only available if you’re on a particular side of the political divide.”

MEANWHILE, OVER AT VODKAPUNDIT: Weather Underground Baby Elected San Fran DA, Chaos to Follow. “Weather Underground tried to destroy America through a bombing campaign, but that’s small-scale destruction compared to what you can do to a city, once you grab its reins of power.”

‘VICTIM-SHAMING:’ Nike makes things worse after runner Mary Cain’s abuse claims.

Former middle-distance runner Mary Cain, once dubbed “the fastest girl in America,” detailed her tragic experience as a member of Nike’s Oregon Project in a video for The New York Times published Thursday.

The 23-year-old Bronxville native recalled the physical and mental abuse she endured when she was 17, while training with Nike’s Alberto Salazar, claiming that the highly touted track and field coach forced her to lose weight and ignored her acts of self-harm.

“I joined Nike because I wanted to be the best female athlete ever,” Cain said in the video. “Instead, I was emotionally and physically abused by a system designed by Alberto and endorsed by Nike.”

Multiple prominent runners, including New York City Marathon winner Shalane Flanagan, have spoken out in support of Cain. Olympic runner Kara Goucher backed up Cain’s allegations and criticized Nike’s handling of the situation on Twitter Friday.

“So [Nike] responds to [Cain],” Goucher wrote. “Takes the time to victim shame Mary, before saying they will investigate. I hope you come to me, because I have stories to match all of Mary’s claims and so much more. Don’t let this be more lip service, actually do something.”

Nike got the Betsy Ross flag cancelled — isn’t that caring enough for one shoe manufacturer?!

HARSH, BUT FAIR:

That’s from Complete Colorado, which is a local version of Drudge before Drudge got all panicky.

DO PATIENTS GET A SAY IN THIS? Google’s ‘Project Nightingale’ Gathers Personal Health Data on Millions of Americans.

Don’t be silly. Of course patients don’t get a say.

Google began Project Nightingale in secret last year with St. Louis-based Ascension, the second-largest health system in the U.S., with the data sharing accelerating since summer, according to internal documents.

The data involved in the initiative encompasses lab results, doctor diagnoses and hospitalization records, among other categories, and amounts to a complete health history, including patient names and dates of birth.

Neither patients nor doctors have been notified. At least 150 Google employees already have access to much of the data on tens of millions of patients, according to a person familiar with the matter and the documents.

Yours is not to wonder why, yours is to cough up data and die.

Related (From Ed): “It’s uncanny how closely the Western elites have come to resemble their unlamented Soviet counterparts,” Richard Fernandez tweets, regarding the suitably Orwellianly named Project Nightingale. “Mass surveillance, propaganda, special academies, secret perversions, etc. But how could it be otherwise? Power creates one face with minor variations.”

ARMED HOG LEAVES VEGAS: Well, an A-10C Warthog takes off from Nellis Air Force Base (which is just outside of Las Vegas). But “armed Hog leaves Vegas” has more snap. “Armed Hog splits Vegas” is another option.

WHAT IN THE WORLD IS WRONG WITH NORTHWESTERN’S STUDENT NEWSPAPER?:  If Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism isn’t the most prestigious such program in the country, then it’s darn close.   Yet the editors of its school newspaper recently issued a cloying apology for covering a very newsworthy visit to the the NU campus by Jeff Sessions.   The coverage of the visit and the accompanying protests was evidently triggering for NU’s snowflakes.

Glenn posted something about this last night. But I wanted to re-post it in the morning when more readers would see it.  As a Northwestern grad, this makes me want to burn the place down.   If you have a mind to, please leave comments on the Daily Northwestern web site.  These students need to hear from as many adults as possible.

JIM HANSON: Alex Vindman Is Living, Breathing Proof That The Deep State Exists, And It Is Corrupt. “Vindman gave the game away with his prepared testimony. He believes the permanent bureaucracy should reign supreme, and if some elected politician gets crosswise with the solons of the state, then they must act. So he did, as he detailed in his prepared statement and testimony to Congress.”
