QUOTE OF THE DAY: “All I know is that I went to bed in reality and woke up in a world where Lindsey Graham, Mitch McConnell, and Susan Collins are awesome.”
SEEMS LIKE THIS MIGHT VIOLATE SOME LAWS:
YES: Debra Saunders: In Their Zeal To Stop Kavanaugh, It Was Journalists Who Came Across As Partisan And Unprofessional. “It’s the lack of self-knowledge among journalists as to how bad they look when they toss aside their own standards that makes it so easy for Americans to hate us.” Journalism is one of many American institutions that is failing because its members are performing for their peers rather than focusing on their jobs.
BREAKING: BRETT KAVANAUGH CONFIRMED TO THE U.S. SUPREME COURT.
After weeks of a tense confirmation battle, the U.S. Senate confirmed Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court on Saturday afternoon, in a 50-to-48 vote. The vote followed party lines, with two exceptions: Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.V.) and Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska). Sen. Steve Daines (R-Mont.) was absent for his daughter’s wedding. In honor of his absence, Murkowski withdrew her vote.
Even as Vice President Mike Pence, president of the Senate, called the roll for the vote, protesters shouted from outside the chamber.
And just think — this was merely the out of town dress rehearsal for the show trial awaiting the judge who will replace Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
Related: No police report, then? Christine Blasey Ford will not pursue her allegations any further.
THE HYSTERICALLY SCREECHING DEMOCRATIC WOMEN IN THE GALLERY WERE A NICE TOUCH, as Kavanaugh is confirmed. I figure each one was worth 10,000 votes to the GOP next month. Who thinks that’s a good idea? Kavanaugh confirmed 50-48.
As someone points out in the comments, Dems have dropped from +11 to +2 in the generic ballot in the last month, leaving them within the margin of error.
HEALTH: ‘Broken Heart Syndrome’ Warrants Careful Monitoring.
It’s not a heart attack, but so-called “broken heart syndrome” still puts patients at high risk for hospital readmission and in-hospital death, a new study suggests.
Broken heart syndrome — also called Takotsubo syndrome — causes symptoms similar to a heart attack, including chest pain and difficulty breathing.
But while a heart attack is caused by severely blocked arteries, broken heart syndrome is typically brought on by stressful events and involves sudden weakening of the heart muscle.
Although the syndrome is thought to be temporary, the study found subsequent heart problems were not uncommon.
“Takotsubo patients should be given a detailed discharge plan and counseled on potential reasons to revisit their doctor, such as difficulty breathing or swelling of the legs,” said the study’s co-lead investigator, Dr. Nathaniel Smilowitz. He’s an assistant professor of medicine at NYU Langone Medical Center in New York City.
“These are very sick patients who need close follow-up,” Smilowitz said in a hospital news release.
Mind/body.
GOOD: Staffer who ‘doxed’ GOP senators faces nearly 50 years in federal prison. The only thing that will stop this mob-madness is a dose of consequences.
Related: Cosko Is Not An Unpaid Intern.
In the mainstream media, Cosko is being portrayed as a hapless overzealous intern who didn’t even have the smarts to cover up his criminal act. His former boss— Rep. Sheila Jackson-Lee (D-Texas) has denied she knew anything about Cosko’s activities. . . .
Yet, Jackson-Lee still has some explaining to do. While she claims Cosko was an “unpaid intern” in her office, the Washington Post reports that Cosko was actually a “fellow.” This was confirmed by Cosko’s lawyer, who said his client was a “fellow” in Jackson-Lee’s office and that he was being paid by an “outside institution.”
What “outside institution” paid for Cosko’s fellowship? Did that entity know about his illegal activities? What other fellowships does this “outside organization” pay for? What other House or Senate offices are hosting fellows paid by this organization?
“Intern” and “fellow” are not interchangeable because they aren’t even close to being the same thing. While internships are reserved for inexperienced college students, fellowships are usually serious policy positions and are typically filled by professionals working within other federal agencies or the private sector who are brought to a congressional office for a short stint to help a member of Congress better understand the agency or business for which that member has oversight responsibilities.
I’d like to know who was paying him, and I’d hope to see that entity questioned by the press about his behavior.
I WONDER WHERE IT CAME FROM? Downtown Los Angeles hit with outbreak of flea-borne typhus.

WHEN MEN ANONYMOUSLY SHAMED WOMEN’S SEXUAL BEHAVIOR ON BATHROOM WALLS IT WAS CONSIDERED BAD. THIS, HOWEVER, IS ABOUT “JUSTICE” AND “EMPOWERMENT” BECAUSE REASONS: ‘Make them scared’ website posts uncorroborated sexual assault claims against male students.
RICHARD FERNANDEZ: The Global World vs. The Global World. “Rather than being a safe, rule based system of myth, the ‘global world’ was widely corrupt and rife with reassuring lies. It is now in danger of falling apart.”
HIGHER EDUCATION TAKES SIDES: Students, faculty stage nationwide anti-Kavanaugh protests. When taxpayers grow tired of subsidizing these schools because they see higher ed as a political-action tool for one party, we’ll be told it’s because of “anti-intellectualism.”
