BY ALL MEANS, PLEASE KEEP TALKING: Under fire for Farrakhan donation, D.C. lawmaker Trayon White says he’s ‘not backing down.’

A defiant D.C. Council member Trayon White Sr. (D-Ward 8) on Saturday took to Facebook Live to tell his followers that he was “under attack” by the media and vowed to push back against any effort to reprimand him as criticism mounted over allegations of anti-Semitism and a donation he made to the Nation of Islam.

For the last month, White has been trying to survive a national uproar and local political fallout after he spread conspiracy theories that the Rothschilds, a Jewish banking family, controlled the climate and government.

His efforts to make amends began unraveling this week after The Washington Post reported that he abruptly left a guided tour of the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum and that he donated $500 to a Nation of Islam convention where Louis Farrakhan bashed Jews — spending that has drawn the scrutiny of campaign finance officials.

In his Facebook Live video, White said he was done apologizing and stood by his donation to Nation of Islam.

“I am not resigning, I’m not backing down, I’m not discouraged, I’m not depressed, so run all the media stories you want because my people are going to support me,” White said.

Yesterday at Power Line, in a post headlined, “Anti-semitic and dumb as a rock, Part Three,” Paul Mirengoff wrote, “I find it significant and depressing that somewhere along the way, White ‘learned’ that rich Jews control the weather, but he never learned enough to interpret correctly images from the Holocaust. As I said in a previous post on the subject, there’s a problem here that can’t be alleviated by attending Seders.”

But I for one can’t wait to hear what conspiracy White will be opining on next. As Jim Treacher once wrote, “My rule of thumb is: Liberals want conservatives to shut up, and conservatives want liberals to keep talking.”

DARKLY CONSPIRATORIAL HILLARY CLINTON: “I Knew They Would Never Let Me Be President.”

The Daily Beast has another damning quote — “Basket of Deplorables” was no off-the-cuff line. Hillary routinely used it as a laugh line in big-money fundraising dinners in swank places like the Hamptons… Funny, I don’t remember [Amy Chozick of the New York Times] or anyone else covering Clinton during the campaign reporting that little nugget. It’s almost as if they were trying to protect her from herself, and deliberately hiding relevant information from the public they were allegedly helping to make an informed choice.

PAST PERFORMANCE IS NO GUARANTEE OF FUTURE RESULTS. MSNBC: Get It? Trump Is Like the Mob Boss in The Godfather:

Trump is like mobster Don Corleone in The Godfather because he kinda quoted a line from the classic gangster movie. Twice (so far) on Thursday, MSNBC played a clip of Marlon Brando saying, “I’m going to make him an offer he can’t refuse.” This was to introduce discussions of the President.

Why? Because Trump said of the possibility of re-entering TPP: “Unless they offer us a deal that we cannot refuse, I would not go back into TPP.” Not quite the line, but close enough for MSNBC hosts apparently. Co-host Willie Geist opened Morning Joe with both the clip from the film and Trump. He marveled, “Going right to The Godfather this morning.”

And of course, CNN, with no memory of their past excesses, in February, saw Trump as “a mafia boss gone mad!” But why is that a problem to them? I’m old enough to remember back when a president posing as a gangster was seen as being cool, hip and desirable by the MSM, including this 2010 headline at CNN by Rev. Wright acolyte Roland Martin: “Time for Obama to go ‘gangsta’ on GOP.”

CAN I RECOMMEND ORCA COOLERS INSTEAD? Orca’s even based in Tennessee.

Now Marion Hammer’s set her sights on YETI.

The National Rifle Association is targeting YETI after the Texas-based maker of high-dollar cups and coolers dropped its sponsorship of the Friends of NRA Foundation Banquet and Auction events around the country, according to an alert issued by NRA Florida lobbyist Marion Hammer.

The YETI coolers “have been a hot item for sportsmen” at the events for years, according to Hammer’s alert.

“Suddenly, without prior notice, YETI has declined to do business with The NRA Foundation saying they no longer wish to be an NRA vendor, and refused to say why. They will only say they will no longer sell products to The NRA Foundation. That certainly isn’t sportsmanlike. In fact, YETI should be ashamed. They have declined to continue helping America’s young people enjoy outdoor recreational activities. These activities enable them to appreciate America and enjoy our natural resources with wholesome and healthy outdoor recreational and educational programs,” the alert reads. “In this day and age, information is power. We thought you needed this information.”

The NRA Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, charitable organization, according to the alert, which also includes a link to YETI’s online contact service.

Dumb move, Yeti. Your product is popular with people who don’t support lefty politics. Sounds like your management cares more about its standing with other businesspeople than the opinion of its customers.

AND I DON’T: On Earth Day, you shouldn’t feel guilty about your plastic trash. “This year’s Earth Day is focused on ending plastic pollution, but the problem isn’t you or me. Asian countries and messy fishermen are destroying the world’s oceans.”

But shaming normal Americans for fun, power, and profit is the goal here, as with all lefty movements.

PLAYING IT OVER AND OVER AGAIN: How Casablanca was made.

Although I’m not sure I trust a journalist cynical enough to consider Casablanca to be “camp.” As Roger Ebert wrote when the film turned 50:

This is a movie that has transcended the ordinary categories. It has outlived the Bogart cult, survived the revival circuit, shrugged off those who would deface it with colorization, leaped across time to win audiences who were born decades after it was made. Sooner or later, usually before they are 21, everyone sees “Casablanca.” And then it becomes their favorite movie.

It is The Movie.
