THAT’S TERRIBLE NEWS SINCE I’M NEVER HUNG OVER: Hangovers Are Good.

OAKLAND COFFEE SHOP SAYS ‘COPS NOT WELCOME:’ It’s the Hasta Muerte Coffee shop and it’s owned by its employees. The name in Spanish means “until death.” Since every Oakland thug – both those legally and those illegally present in the city across the bay – know cops won’t be inside during a robbery, that name might have more relevance than any of the employee-owners realize.

HMM: Study links early periods to adulthood mental health issues. “Mental health problems can last into adulthood for girls who start having their periods at an early age, a new study suggests. Previous research had found that girls with early periods have more frequent and severe mental health disorders, such as depression, anxiety and eating disorders. They’re also more prone to substance abuse, delinquency and failing or dropping out of school.”

This is particularly disturbing since so many girls are getting their period much earlier.

ANALYSIS: TRUE. “Worst case, Trump paid Stormy Daniels. But he didn’t kill her. That distinguishes him from the Liberal Lion of the Senate. If you want a scandal, and a cover-up that succeeded to a remarkable degree, look no further than Chappaquiddick. The Democratic Party conspired to cover up Ted Kennedy’s crime–manslaughter, in a particularly vile form–to preserve his political viability, at the cost of an innocent young woman’s life.”

Oh sure, but “‘If she had lived, Mary Jo Kopechne would be 62 years old. Through his tireless work as a legislator, Edward Kennedy would have brought comfort to her in her old age,’ wrote [Charles Pierce in a January 5, 2003 Boston Globe Magazine profile of Kennedy]. The quote was recognized as the worst of the year at the MRC’s DisHonors Awards in 2004.”

THIS IS CNN:

● Shot: CNN Upset That Breitbart News Has ‘Not Given Prime Placement’ to Porn Star Articles.

—Headline, Big Journalism, Thursday.

● Chaser: CNN’s Bizarre Blackout On Democrats’ Farrakhan Scandal.

—Headline, the Daily Caller, yesterday.

“CNN’s on-air coverage of the Farrakhan scandal has been limited to a one-minute segment on Jake Tapper’s ‘State of the Union,’ and one question that Wolf Blitzer posed to Ellison at the end of an interview in February. Aside from those two brief instances, the Farrakhan scandal has been entirely missing from CNN’s on-air coverage.”

Tapper ticked that box off for the year. What more do you want from the network?

DAVID FRENCH: Civility Isn’t Surrender. Nope. And as Robert Heinlein observed, you can be a gentleman and still be a cast-iron son of a bitch when it’s called for.

But I think it’s a fair critique that too many conservatives have seen surrender as a form of civility.

BYRON YORK: In Trump-Russia probe, what’s with that meeting in the Seychelles? “The story baffled some Republicans who have been following the Trump-Russia affair, for two reasons. One, the core question of the investigation is whether the Trump campaign and Russia colluded to influence the 2016 election. The Seychelles meeting took place on January 11, 2017, more than two months after the election. One thing that is certain is that the participants were not colluding to influence the 2016 election. . . . The second reason Republicans were baffled is that even if Prince were representing the Trump transition, and even if he were trying to establish a back channel with the Russians — two points Prince vehemently denies — there would be nothing illegal or improper about the incoming Trump administration setting up a channel, back or otherwise, to speak to a foreign country, including Russia.”
