IF IT WASN’T FOR DOUBLE STANDARDS, THE HOUSE OF STEPHANOPOULOS WOULD HAVE NO STANDARDS AT ALL: Does ‘The View’ Think Pelosi Has ‘Mental Illness’ Since She Says She Hears Dead People?

The hosts of ABC’s “The View” said that Christians like Vice President Mike Pence have “mental illness” if they think Jesus talks to them – but, do they feel the same way about Rep. Nancy Pelosi’s (D-Calif.) repeated claims she’s heard dead peoples’ voices?

On the Feb. 13, 2018 episode of “The View,” the show’s hosts mocked Pence’s Christian faith, leading host Joy Behar to declare the vice president mentally ill.

But, the liberal media looked the other way when video surfaced of Democrat Pelosi describing her encounter with ghosts back in August of 2012. An Aug. 12, 2012 CNSNews.com story recounts Pelosi’s claim she not only heard – but also felt – dead women sitting in a chair with her:

Also getting a pass from the DNC-MSM on listening for voices from beyond: “God, if you think I’m supposed to run, you gotta tell me, and it has to be so clear that not even I can miss it.’ And I haven’t gotten that,” Oprah tells People magazine today.

ARMED TEACHERS WILL STOP ‘DERANGED MADMAN KILLING DEFENSELESS KIDS:’ That’s the view of Colorado’s Laura Caro, chief of a citizen’s group known as FASTER. The group is behind the campaign that has put armed and highly trained teachers in dozens of Colorado schools.

“What happens in these mass killing events, is on average one person is shot every 17 seconds,” Carno said Wednesday, according to LifeZette’s Kathryn Blackhurst. And “if that’s your kid in the hallway, in the cafeteria, in the classroom, how many 17-second intervals are you OK with if you have a school resource officer running toward the scene or a police officer being called to the scene?” Every parent knows the answer to that question.

SOUTH SAINT LOUIS BLUES: Cherokee Street shop vandalized for flag supporting police, owner says.

Cherri Elder, the owner of Elder’s Antiques at 2124 Cherokee Street, said an American flag with a blue stripe on it supporting police officers has caused her, her employees and her neighbors anguish for a while now.

Elder said someone broke one of her business’ windows, leaving a message inside that read, “you’ve been warned.” It also had communist symbols on it.

The incident happened late Monday or early Tuesday, less than two weeks after someone posted a sign on her business saying “pig supporters not welcomed,” apparently referencing police.

“We’re so deep in it now, we can’t get out,” she said. “I can’t take it down.”

Elder said the flag went up as a sign of support for a handful of police officers who frequently patrol that part of Cherokee Street.

That’s the kind of gesture which ought to earn Elder her neighbors’ appreciation.

BUT OF COURSE: SPLC Targets Feminist Scholar Christina Hoff Sommers.

In a report on “Male Supremacy,” an ideology that the group says “advocates for the subjugation of women,” it included American Enterprise Institute scholar Christina Hoff Sommers, calling her someone “who gives mainstream and respectable face to some [Men’s Rights Activist] concerns.” Sommers told THE WEEKLY STANDARD that she finds her inclusion in this report “quite surprising.”

“I completely reject that,” Sommers said. “This is a group I used to admire. They once went after Klan members and Nazis and now… [they go after] people like Ben Carson and Ayaan Hirsi Ali. It’s absurd.” She adds that the SPLC has no evidence for the suggestion that she “gives mainstream and respectable face” to “male supremacy”:. “They’re blacklisting in place of engaging with arguments. They blacklist you, rather than try to refute you.”

The SPLC is a hate group.

JOY PULLMAN: Parkland Underscores How Americans Pay For Garbage Government While Doing Its Job Ourselves.

U.S. government forces citizens to support a layer of incompetent fat that impedes our best interests; and government failures force us into a burdened mode of self-government. We have to both pay for government to not perform basic functions like protect citizens from criminals and carry out justice, and accomplish those same ends ourselves if we want them done at all.

As Charles Murray says, government has become an “insurable hazard,” but only to the small proportion of Americans with the requisite money or connections to secure such insurance. The rest of us are sitting ducks. And we know it.

Read the whole thing, which reinforces a point I’ve been making for years: We have far more government than we need — and far less than we pay for.

GET WOKE, GO BROKE: GreenTech, the electric car company once led by McAuliffe, files for bankruptcy. “The electric car company founded by former Gov. Terry McAuliffe filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy this week, blaming in part a wave of negative coverage by a conservative news website for its financial woes.”

Plus:

According to its bankruptcy filing, GreenTech raised $141.5 million from investors between 2009 and 2013 as part of the EB-5 visa program that offered immigrant investors permanent residency.

GreenTech’s filing says that all the investors were advised the investment constituted a risk “and that there were no assurances that the investors would ultimately receive permanent residency in the U.S.”

I’m going to go out on a limb here and guess that GreenTech’s business model relied heavily on having a Democrat in the Oval Office.

ED MORRISSEY: 20 States Sue To End ObamaCare — And They Might Have A Point.

The original 5-4 decision on NFIB v Sebelius et al was intellectually shaky at the time, especially with its reliance on a lower-order argument on the power of taxation. Removing the tax penalties from the mandate eliminates the factual crutch used by Justice Roberts. In the syllabus to his majority opinion, Roberts expressly found that “the individual mandate is not a valid exercise of Congress’s power under the Commerce Clause and the Necessary and Proper Clause,” on which he expands shortly afterward.

Without the tax penalty, the entire structure becomes problematic — at least if we go by Roberts’ opinion that carved out the constitutional niche in the first place.

So yes, the removal of the tax does make the mandate ripe for a court to strike down. The mandate, though, is also meaningless without the penalty. The question is whether striking down the mandate would cause the court to strike down the entire ACA — and that seems unlikely.

This wouldn’t even be an issue to discuss had the GOP fulfilled its longstanding promise to repeal ObamaCare.

SHOCKING NEWS FROM THE WORLD OF SCIENCE: Women Report More Rudeness at Work From Other Women. “Across the three studies, we found consistent evidence that women reported higher levels of incivility from other women than their male counterparts. . . . In other words, women are ruder to each other than they are to men, or than men are to women.”

Where’s the campaign to do something about that?

As H.L. Mencken said. . . .
